ShowsILoveToHate February 22 Share February 22 I liked tonight’s episode a lot. It showed how Alice ended up on the recording with Colton. And the very last scene! Whoa! I punched my poor husband in the arm and he had cardiac surgery this morning. lol I don’t like that they’re playing the Kat and Elliott game again. Geesh. I’ve come to the conclusion that the only flakey Landry woman is Kat. It’s not that I don’t like the character, but she’s the impetus for so much of the drama. But hey, SHE brought Jacob home, so I think I’ll have to forgive her everything else. lol 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8587960

He deserves a woman who wants a real long-term relationship and is "all in." I'm not sure Kat will ever be that way with anyone. When she was college age, she intended to leave Brady because she had grown bored and wanted adventure but got back together with him and married him because she turned out to be pregnant with Alice. She's again showing she wants constant drama and adventure, rather than cooking dinner together or talking about boring (non tt) subjects with guests like Elliot's past teaching experiences. She risked her life again by going back to 1814, without a thought for Alice. The one moment that I thought was especially contrived for this Show was teen Colton showing up again in 1814 at just the right moment to save his future son from the burning Landry home. I guess now we know for sure middle-aged dying Colton recognized Kat from 1814 and must have seen the "My Katherine" painting while he was hanging out with Evelyn at Lingermore at some point (because evil Goodwin never destroyed it). I was amused he figured out from the painting and a look that Susanna is in love with Kat, yet Kat still has no idea esp. because she's pre-occupied going between Thomas and Elliott. Young Colton knew and even Cyrus knew. Hell, WE all know! However, Kat doesn’t? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8588798
Artsda February 24 Share February 24 Kat really obsessed with the pond more than anyone in her life. Elliot deserves better. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589591
bunnyface February 24 Share February 24 My mother said "So apparently the whole universe revolves around Colton?" Made me think "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589709

Right? Honestly, Kat seems more committed to Susanna than either Elliot or Thomas and is absolutely more focused on her well-being. I had thought Kat was in love with her too, and maybe she is. But at this point, I'm not sure it matters what the nature of Kat's feelings for Susanna are. The relevant issue is that Kat is NOT particularly committed, devoted, or even able to focus for a sustained 30 minutes on Elliot and is barely more attentive to Thomas. Last season, Kat's willingness to repeatedly abandon her daughter and to risk potential permanent separation from Alice if the pond decided to be a dick was really wild to me. I had hoped that it was because of her need to bring Jacob home, something rooted in her trauma experienced as a teenager that was making her act like an impulsive, immature idiot and take risks with her life with Alice. But, no. Kat is just a drama junkie and cannot help herself. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589852

And then I think...if I had the ability to go back and see things...see myself younger, see my parents younger, see my grandparents...would I be able to keep myself from doing that? I mean, thus far, the pond has never stranded them in an alternate time. They always been able to get home. Sometimes it's kept them from going somewhere, but never from coming home. So seemingly no real danger from the pond itself. Would I be able to keep myself out? I don't know. That's probably why I've enjoyed time travel stories in the past. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589897

If it was just the relationship drama, I would find her immature. It's the constant disregard for her daughter (occasionally not considering whether she would ever see Alice again) that I find difficult to sympathize with. Last year, there was a point when Thomas literally had to remind her that she had a life to return to. She had, otherwise, been considering abandoning her life in 2024, Alice included. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589919
sskrill February 24 Share February 24 We all had that Kat friend when we were 21 .. no matter where you were, or what her relationship status was, she needed attention from someone. Most outgrew it by late 20s ... I originally like her character as she seemed like a good person just trying to navigate a difficult time in life. Now she's that 21 year old that I never cared for. Shows need conflict, and that's fine, but this is stupid and boring. Did we ever find out why they went to 1971? (or whatever yr it was) Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8589947
sskrill February 25 Share February 25 Was watching Air Disasters the other day and found good ole Colton Landry as an NTSB investigator. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took to realize where I knew him from. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8590292
Artsda Tuesday at 04:45 AM Share Tuesday at 04:45 AM Kat said it shouldn't have to be that hard? Maybe it is hard because she's jumping in the pond everyday to time travel. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152024-s03e08-smoke-on-the-water/#findComment-8597430
