I hate these types of challenges. What part of head chef includes teaching a non-cook how to cook?

I don't care for it either, but I'll hand wave away any stoopid stuff if only to see Gordon show them how it's done. And by them, I mean the contestants.

Have Gordon and Bobby Flay ever had a cook-off against each other?

I tried to quote both of your posts because of the deep insight and importance of your statements, but the formatting didn't work.

In other words, YES-a thousand, million times YES!!!  We have waited far too long to see Gordon demonstrate his skills and food.  What's the point of any of his shows if we don't get to see him cook?  Or filet a fish?  And, yes, I have started watching Kitchen Nightmares....it's a Gordon show so of course I'm watching!!!

Oh, back to this show-I'm hoping the comedians are at least...funny.  Far too often I find comedians annoying rather than funny so here's hoping Gordon knows funny comedians.

Only speculation, but I think Whit will get totally frustrated, Kyle will 'compete' with the comedian to see who is funnier (more likely, who is more cringeworthy), Brandon will speak down to his comedian, Hannah will try to perfect the comedian's skill, and Egypt will just roll with it.

Oh same! And it's not the same watching his YouTube videos, because of the editing and fast pace! And no, I never did get a chance to try his curry in 15 minutes recipe. Life and the holidays caught up with me!

I can see Hannah is a good cook, but honestly, all her face piercings really turn me off.

Brandon having to do all that cooking on the meat station was destined to fail.  I know everyone else was doing garnish but Brandon had so much more responsibility.

He was my fave so that sucks, go Egypt, I guess.

Brandon must have been way worse than we saw for Gordon to just cut him immediately after service.  Even black jackets go back to the dorms for nominations.

Was I the only one who had never heard of any of the comedians that cooked?

After apps are done, what are the apps chefs supposed to do?  Egypt was on sides and Whit was on fish.  Since Brandon seemed to be on meats all alone, where were Hannah and Kyle?

I knew Jeff Dye because he was the host of a funny show that went on trips with William Shatner, George Foreman and Henry Winkler.  The show was all about those three, and Jeff would wrangle them and occasionally be funny on his own.

I think I’ve seen the guy paired with Whit in clips on Twitter and Judy Gold has been around forever, but I have no idea of anything she has done.  The other two, I got nothing.

That was it?  Seriously.  That was it?  Gordon, listen, all respect to you, but that was NOT the Gordon cooks demonstration I was expecting.  10% salmon?  Show us the filleting.  90% lobster?  Show us the process.  Show us how you actually make the beurre Blanc.  Gordon, you know showing us your made skills is an essential reason why we (well, at least GHScorpiosRules and me...) watch.

Was surprised that Brandon went home.  However, he found himself in the woods and didn't know how to get out of them.  Several chefs asked if he needed help and he told all of them no.  I agree with others that the meat station has the most pressure, but he could have delegated to those who worked the apps and had finished. 

I'm glad that it seemed the chefs had a good time with the comedians.  What I really noticed though?  The three chefs to had to clean both kitchens did not complain while those who had to bake two dozen cupcakes a couple of episodes ago did nothing but complain (especially Whit).  That tells me a lot about the various chefs.

Yeah.  We now know who the remaining professionals are. Brandon was actually enjoying the cleaning (maybe mostly the peace and quiet).

When I saw the premise of having comedians in my eyes rolled and I cringed, prepared to listen to a bunch of no-names trying for their 15 minutes of fame and cracking a bunch of lame jokes.  I only perked up for this when I heard the name Jim Norton.  I was a big fan of the radio team Opie and Anthony back in the day and Jim Norton was their sidekick.  Got me all nostalgic.   Nice to see Lil' Jimmy.   The rest of those people.... whatever.

I think I've heard of Judy Whatshername. The rest: nope. Not a one of them. Funny how each was paired up with their "fan." I'm not sure how teaching someone who can't cook to make beurre Blanc and ravioli is the mark of a head chef, so I am holding Egypt harmless for having a dope for a student. And not crediting Whit for being a superhero. Brandon hasn't ever watched Hell's Kitchen, has he, since he wasn't able to yell around to the team. A chef who likes a quiet kitchen is not going to succeed in a Ramsay business!

Sorry to say but this current crop of chefs have been a huge disappointment. They all seem to be way out of shape with large waist lines. I certainly would not like any of them representing my business since they make such a negative appearance. I still can't recall the names of those left. They have made such a negative influence. I really don't care who wins!!

I agree and it's a shame, although I wasn't so wild about Brandon anyway. I do think he deserved to stay over some of the others, though.

My husband isn't exactly ignorant about current comedians and the only one on this episode that he knew of was Judy Gold because she's been around forever.

I agree with the others that the challenge to teach them was dumb and irrelevant but I guess that's entertainment.

At this point I'm pulling for either Egypt or Hannah. Whit and Kyle are long past due to get off my screen. Kyle is smug and obnoxious and Whit is showing a bit of an attitude that doesn't go well with leading a kitchen.

Unless Hannah or Egypt totally mess up a service (and Egypt may still get a pass anyway), I think it's gonna be a Hannah vs Egypt final with Egypt winning.
