Anyone have anecdotes?

It was pouring rain when I left work, I couldn't make a turn because of two cars blocking the end of the road, so I had to keep going straight, which if I kept going would force me onto a highway I really don't want to be on in blinding rain in the dark (it wasn't fully dark at that moment but it would be soon) during rush hour (or really any time, actually), so I turned at a light intending to find a place to turn around and backtrack. So I was on a street I'm not familiar with and it was raining so hard I couldn't even see the lines on the road (I think it was two lanes..?), so I pulled into the first parking lot I could and sat there for about ten minutes before the rain let up a little. By the time I made it back past the road I wanted to turn at, there were police and tow trucks, so I kept going back to the next light (which I could have turned at in the first place but didn't because I wasn't going to get through the green arrow; it's right by the turnpike entrance and there's a lot of traffic and sometimes it's easier to just go to the next light). So I finally got over to the road I needed to be on, which sometimes gets flooded spots but thankfully wasn't too bad. Got out to the highway, made it to my exit, got around the jughandle and around the bend to find I couldn't go straight, and the cones and arrows wanted us to turn right but I wasn't sure where that would take me, so I turned left into the grocery store instead, cut across to the highway I had just gotten off of in the other direction, went down to the bookstore and cut through their lot to the road that I live off of (about a mile and a half away) only to find that there was a flooded spot just after the next side street. So I turned down that street, down another road, out to Main Street, down another side street to a light by a school to get back on my road, and finally made it home. Normally it takes me about 30-40 minutes to get home; I left work at 5:34 and got home at 6:47.

What an adventure! Glad you got home safe.

I might get fired from my job this week, so I need some snarking and laughter. Thanks everybody!

Oh no! That is the worst feeling in the world. At the risk of sounding Pollyanna-ish, could it be a blessing in disguise? You'll find yourself something better where you're happier and people appreciate you? I know you'll land on your feet because you are awesome!

Whenever you land, they’ll be lucky to have you.

😊 Thank you! I think so too.

Will you be able to collect unemployment? I mean I know that's not much either. Shit. I'm so sorry.

I'm in North Carolina, and the unemployment here is skimpy, if I even quality for it.

Jughandle? You must be in NJ!
I once thought of a sign as you enter the state that says, “Welcome to New Jersey, keep right to turn left”

Emotional Support Twinkies!

I like Chocodiles (they're like chocolate-covered Twinkies), but I haven't seen those for a while.

She can burn some calories blinking her eyes with those hefty eyelashes!

That looks like a salad with a lot of mayo. I'm pretty sure that's not on Dr. Now's diet.

Chocodiles are extinct, alas! 😱
