It’s a brutal 20 degrees her in NYC tonight.

18 here in MA right now, 2 with windchill and expected to get worse.  I keep my house at 67 but the thermostat is upstairs (it's stupidly one zone) so it's 64 downstairs and I have turned on an electric space heater so I can watch TV in my living room and not freeze.

It's a balmy 24 degrees here but the wind has been KILLER. At least the sun finally came out. It's been so gloomy!

Was in the 20s here today, too, and walking up the sidewalk at work felt like a wind tunnel. And the badge scanner isn't working so either the receptionist has to let us in or we have to buzz and security will unlock the door remotely if no one's at the front desk yet. Luckily today she was straightening up the little coffee cart in the lobby which is near the door so she saw me coming and just ran over and opened the door as I walked up.

(It also means the gym is closed until they get it fixed. Apparently it's a software issue and I think this is the third week of this.)

It's cold here in Vermont too. I am in my lycra tights and fleece-lined windbreak pants, a long sleeved shirt and a zippered pullover, with my favorite merino wool Darn Tough socks and LL Bean fleece-lined bootie slippers AND I have the heat cranked up to 71° AND my lovely furry cat on my lap.

Wow! I'm in fleece lined leggings and a sweatshirt, but I'm also in bed, with THREE comforters, two of which are down.

I have sheepskin slippers! So cozy! I also have the cutest fluffy soft bunny slippers.

I just swapped an old worn out pair of sheepskin slippers for brand new one.  The old one was worn not just to the point of not having fur anymore, even the leather cracked in places so it was down to rubber.  No wonder my feet were freezing when I wore them.  Once I noticed a month ago, I got new ones.  Such a difference!

I bow down to you, my queen!

I am the Queen of Blankets, anyway. I have to be forcibly restrained from buying more, all the time. I have the three on my bed and I also have a huge Ugg Sherpa throw up here, in case of emergencies. I have a storage ottoman in the living room, full of blankets. And a basket in the corner, with another half a dozen (these are the everyday blankets, the ottoman has the extra). But I refuse to turn my thermostat over 65 so blankets are a must. Fortunately my house is well insulated and has all new windows.

I don't have enough real blankets, but I have a lot of smaller throws. I keep buying ones with cute prints so I can make them into cozy pants, but then I just use them like they are, and I really don't need this many throws.

If anyone hates getting into a freeezing cold bed, I recommend getting an electric mattress cover. It’s heavenly. I set it for one hour ()other wise it gets too hot for me) but I no longer shiver when I get into bed. By the way, my bedroom is right above the garage. It’s the only bedroom on the main floor (which I love and why I bought the house). I also bought a Vornado space heater, because I don’t like the two that I already have.

I hate having anything on my feet, so the most I'll do is thick socks.

I am a sock addict so I have a bunch of those fuzzy socks with the grippy dots on the soles but I can't wear them with slippers so it's one or the other. Tonight it's wool socks and slippers. Tomorrow it might be grippy socks.
