This isn't really a comedy.

I enjoyed this for the most part, but I don't understand why they felt the need for the big coverup, or why they thought they would go to jail. As far as they knew, it was an accidental shooting. The daughter thought a burglar was breaking into the house and shot him. As horrible as that is, it isn't something that they should have felt the need to cover up. Maybe they were worried the police would realize Jacob was stealing from the neighbors, but still. They could have covered that part up and simply told the police his sister shot him by accident.

The ending was bittersweet. The flickering light always got to me, from the first episode on. That part of the story was heartfelt, and anyone who has lost a loved one can probably relate.

Once I started, I couldn't stop, so I binge watched the entire thing and will have to go back and re-watch so I can catch the details I missed, but I really liked this.  I figured it was the daughter who'd done the shooting (from the beginning), but the way the son entered the house was like he was being chased, so I also knew something else had happened.  When Margo just kept getting more and more evil, I figured she was the end game, and as soon as there was a second casing, I knew for sure.  But it was still fun - and touching - getting there.

I thought the ending was over the top.  Margo was a bad person, but having her get burned alive was a little much.

And add me to the people who did not understand the reason for the cover up.  It was an accident.  I don't know if the gun was licensed or properly stored, but I can't imagine the daughter was going to get charged with much if she thought she was shooting a burglar trying to break into her home.

I also didn't really believe anyone was going to pull their offer based on a years ago shooting at the house.  It was a beautiful home in what appeared to be a great area.  They'd have multiple offers.

I really enjoyed this show.  I think they did a really good job of adding new little twists each episode, everyone had some little (or not so little) secret to hide.  It was quirky enough to entertain, without going too far over the top for me.  I think the casting was excellent, too.  Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow worked great for me, and casting Denis Leary as RR's brother was fabulous.

I also figured there was something hinky with the "piano lessons", and that was a cover for something, and I was guessing pretty early that the daughter was the one that shot Jacob.  But other than that, I wasn't sure what to expect.

As to the need for a cover-up in the first place, I will disagree with everyone above.  I think the cover-up made sense.  Yes, it is highly unlikely that Emily would have been held responsible in any way for Jacob's death, even it had been her gun that killed him.  But I can see parents not wanting to take that chance.  Also, her life would have been ruined by it, more than it already was.  There would be so much press, and she would be known forever as the girl that shot her brother.  And I don't think they could have gotten away with covering up Jacob's thefts if Emily would have been subject to questioning on the death.  So, yeah, that all actually makes sense to me.

Now, what I wish they showed was Mikey's reunion with his son, and how he explained away that he's not dead, how/why he went missing, etc.  I guess it would be easy to just say "I owed people money, they grabbed me and beat me up."  But I wish they had shown that.

I don't like that Paul's drug arrest was completely dropped, save for one "oh, that crazy neighbor telling crazy stories" line.

And I'm not sure how I feel about the ending for Margo.  We're not supposed to really know who set the fire - JD or Lydia, right?  But I don't like how that ended.  First, setting a house on fire in a neighborhood like that risks the whole neighborhood going up - those houses are pretty close together.  Second, the 1/2 burned face just didn't work for me.  The Margo they showed us would never be seen in public looking like that, let alone trying to pick up men in a bar.  I think I would have liked it better if we saw JD sign over the deed, then have Margo burn the house down herself to get the insurance $, but she screws up and gets caught in it.  Then she gets arrested for insurance fraud, arson, etc.
