Looks like we're "danger close" to the finale. And I'm . . . not caring that much.

Is it wrong of me to think that this episode's MVP was whomever lined up the schedule so that Ryan would have to fight for his place in the game on his late sister's birthday? That was brutal. Fortunately, he got a game with cinder blocks . . . and since Johnny wasn't a target, Corey wound up getting sacrificed to the Challenge Gods.

Mission was decent. It looked like it was a bargain as well.

They had everyone wearing helmet cams but didn't use any of the footage from them as they went over the cliff and then got dropped to the water and swam 500 meters?

Surprised that Cara was such a poor swimmer or she didn't even try.

This Daily kind of looked cool, with the car making a big splash as it hit the water.  Otherwise pretty simple and it was purely about swimming, though the puzzle apparently did in Derek.

The elimination wasn't about who was better at puzzles. It was about strategic thinking on their feet.

Corey tried to carry as many blocks as possible but he wore himself out and probably wasn't able to concentrate and probably didn't want to lift the blocks again because he was tired.  He didn't even come close to finishing the puzzle.

Even if he had won, he might have compromised his ability to compete if there was a Daily the next morning.

The rule said they couldn't work on the puzzle until all the blocks were transferred through the guillotine door.  However, Derek was basically solving the puzzle and carrying the blocks to reconstitute it on the platform.

So he didn't adhere strictly to the rules?

Kind of strange that they would change venue before the final Daily and Elimination.  They have the set up for the Elimination there.  Would the new place have the same setup?

The rule was you couldn’t lay the pieces on the sand and start organizing on the destination side until you brought them all over.  It didn’t say you couldn’t be smart about the order you brought them in.  Derek did his organizing on the starting side.

So presumably they didn't use 10 different cars, but somehow hoisted the car out each time, but I'm thinking they CGI'd out the ropes or whatever?  I wish I could have seen that!

Jenny...a little entitled IMHO to assume Derek would save her based on something that happened a million challenges ago, while in between she clearly became part of a tight-knit group that didn't include Derek.

I did laugh when they showed Derek and his brother talking and it said Bo Derek.  Did their parents realize they were naming the two kids after the actress?  Sad about his sister :-(

Oh, Cory.

I was thinking "girl... bad timing. You just made him a target. That favor doesn't mean shit now."

Sad to see Cory go, I think he was having a great season. I do think that Derek is having a good season too though so at least someone I like won the elimination.

I thought the conversation with Bananas and Kyland about the final was interesting, good strategy. Try to psych him out before they get there. I don't think Kyland is going for it though.

Wish Derek picked Michele as a target instead of Cara because I'm still not a Michele fan.

No more challenge for the rest of the year? Now I'm sad.

I think Johnny was being genuine about this thoughts on the final. If my memory serves me correctly, he's said that same thing about finals on podcast interviews before.

He was never going to pick Michele. Even if Cara didn't volunteer herself, it was going to be Cara.

They could have wrapped up this season this year if they really wanted to. 🙄

Reddit is saying this will be the last episode of the year. Next week's episode is apparently an All Stars Sneak Peek.

That's what I hear. It isn't even the holiday season yet. How stingy. I was good this year, I don't deserve a lump of coal in my stocking lol

Does anyone recall Cara being bad at swimming?

Yes I knew Cory was in trouble when he had that bad technique in the elimination. That's too bad. Happy for Derek but sad for him.

Oh, Cory.

Yes Jenny. Nice person but terrible at the social/strategy part of this game.

Yes. Cara is notoriously bad at swimming. Do you guys not remember Paulie telling her to practice her swimming in WotW2?

I think Derek said Johnny talked Jenny into talking with Derek about saving her.

I was confused on the logistics of this challenge, too. CGI'ing out ropes to hoist the car back up doesn't seem feasible to me, and I doubt the same car could take repeated plunges without sustaining any damage. But if they didn't use 10 different cars, I have no idea how they did this.

Also, all the players were wearing shoes when they went over the cliff, but they all showed up barefoot on the beach after completing the swim. Did they give them additional time to take their shoes/helmets off after they got in the water, or was the time spent on that included in their total time?

I’ve always liked Michele, but even I’m impressed that she’s still here. Even if you put aside the fact that she’s less experienced/less of a gym rat than most of this cast, she had a shit ton of enemies coming into this season (Amanda, Laurel, arguably Nurys, Kyland, Horacio, Jonna and Cara Maria).

How did production manage to dry the car for the next player after it was repeatedly dropped in the water?

I don’t know what to make of the Cara and Rachel dynamic. I feel like they started off the season super friendly (especially about the Laurel blow-up), but now they’re just taking pot shots at each other in confessionals. What happened?
