Survivor 50 Spoilers and Speculation

Season 50 spoilers and speculation thread.  I know it’s still a ways off from filming but odds are we’ll start getting info for this season sooner rather than later.

S50 is confirmed to be a returning player season, the first since Winners at War (40).  No idea if there will be a specific theme or just a generic type season celebrating the show.  It’ll be filming this coming spring (probably end of May/June) and obviously players are already being contacted and shortlisted (which is why I think we’ll be getting spoilers soon).  I found this on Reddit and it apparently comes from Redmond (I know he’s been talking on his Patreon and I think other accounts about the season).  Take it for what it’s worth.

Here’s a couple of articles from Jeff talking about the season:

Found this on Reddit-per Redmond some more casting news.  When calls first started going out, based on the names he was hearing he thought S50 might be another Second Chances type, as there were no winners or multi-time players in the mix.  That’s apparently changed as he’s hearing that multi-time players have been contacted.  Nothing’s finalized yet but he says many are far along in the process.

He didn’t say whether he heard if any winners were going to be included.  If not I wonder if S50 might be an unfinished business type season.

Can't wait for the casting to pretty much get to where we know all the players that will be participating.  I do wonder if the show actually trends toward having everyone staying in the game due to the ultimate jury twist or whatever they did in WAW.  I might not agree if they do since Season 50 is slated to feature some great or memorable people that didn't win.  Hopefully a mix of those that did as several of the winners of Survivor had memorable segments in seasons that preceded their winning one.

And I just feel like I've done everything I wanted to do in the Survivor space, like, as far as playing. Like, to go back and just go through the motions again doesn't feel like it makes sense, you know? I won the show. I met my wife on the show. I got to play with all the winners... Like, I've lost the show. I've done all different... things... I had a big statue of my face, which is ridiculous, but still pretty awesome. So, I mean - I don't know. If there's another way to be involved in the 50th season to help celebrate it, I'm open to that. But as far as, like, just going back to play again, I don't - I don't need that."

I kinda do.  He knows when to quit.  After he finally won, he just came back for the all winners season.   He has his podcast and he is branching out to other shows.  I can’t see any way coming back would benefit him.

I do believe him.  He's an instant target (and is on other shows as well) and not in the same physical shape as he used to be (he was amazing in his earlier seasons).

However, I will point out that he said "as a player" and "if there's another way to be involved" so I think he is open to continuing as part of Survivor but in a different way.  Even the Island of the Idols season involved him (and Sandra) in a different way.  Do I think it's the end of Rob as a player?  Yes.  Do I think we will see him on Survivor in a different way?  Yes.

Jeff Probst Gives Important Casting Update for 'Survivor 50'
The host and executive producer says they're looking to cast "all types of players, spanning all the eras" on the upcoming milestone season of the CBS reality series.
Mike Bloom   Feb 23, 2024
https://parade.com/tv/jeff-probst-survivor-50-casting-update

Quote

"Trying to figure out who we want to represent Survivor 50 has been the most exciting, I would say, and simultaneously, single-most difficult thing any of us have ever done," he admitted. "We've had 750-something people play this game. How many are on a season? 18, 20. Not many. So we started with a list of 200 people, these people representing the season. And then we got them to 100. That was the first difficult time where we're all like, 'Man, now it's getting tough.' Then we get down to 50."
*  *  *
"People will say, 'Well, do 50 players,'" he said. "You can't. You can't because of math. You just do 70 episodes. It just doesn't work. We would love to do it. You also can't track 50 players. You can't have 50 energies. You can barely track 18 players. So it's just math. It still has to be a small."

Probst clarified that production is still at the stage of 50 players in contention, trying to assess what the next steps are. And, while he did not divulge how they are going to proceed, he did give some valuable insight as to what they're looking for in the 18 to 20 players that will eventually make it onto the cast.

"This is what we're trying to do, because we want to satisfy you," he explained. "We want a cast that represents all types of players, spanning all the eras. An array of people who have slept bled this ever-changing game design for the last 25 years. Because, really, Survivor 50 is a representation of everyone who has ever played and the fans who've been with us for the entire time. So that's what we're endeavoring to do. So you can see how difficult it would be to get it down to a handful of men and a handful of women, very difficult. We hope we get it right. Just know we're we're we're trying. That's what we're intending to do."

I want to ask you about a few specific things to see if these will be on the table for the fan vote. Is 39 days on the table as an option for season 50?

No. It's simply a production situation. We like this game and I can tell you that even if we wanted to, we already have our leases, our land agreements with Mana Island. 39 days isn't even an option.

I didn’t think this was something fans would vote on but I assumed the reason for 26 days was more budget related than anything having to do with lease agreements with the Fijian government.  I wonder if there would ever be a point where they’d go back to 39 days or try to expand it past 26 at least if those agreements expire or they decide to film somewhere else.

Forgot to echo earlier how I too think that's it for Rob as a player.  Unless he has to prove that he can overcome being a decent target, he has nothing to prove.  Take away the blunder in Season 20, and who knows what could happened.

One of the best if not the best in Season 8, and then despite winning over not the greatest of players, it's still winning.  Newer twists in the game that can alter it in Rob's favor might give him a chance, but he's not getting any younger, as mentioned.  Meanwhile, the competition that's younger is a better version of young & athletic than ever before

Survivor 50 voting results: Fans get some bad news
By Ryan DeVault   March 21, 2025

The results won’t be revealed until Survivor 50 has been filmed.

The producers want the Survivor 50 cast to begin the season blind. It’s an interesting strategy to ensure the players don’t know what’s coming.

Keeping the rules and twists a secret should add to the excitement level of the new season.

Will Parvati Shallow Do ‘Survivor’ 50? Fan-Favorite Reveals Her Decision
Kelli Boyle   March 21, 2025
https://www.tvinsider.com/1182763/survivor-50-cast-parvati-shallow/

Quote

Following her elimination from the latter, TV Insider asked what’s next for the ubiquitous reality star. Survivor 50, she says, is not on the list.

“No, you’re not gonna see me out there,” Shallow tells TV Insider of the odds of her participating in “In the Hands of the Fans.” This is largely because she’s ready to move on from reality competition series and get “into creative development” instead. She doesn’t say if she’s spoken with Probst about the 50th season.

“I’m moving out of reality competition, and I’m moving into host and executive producer roles and creating,” she explains, noting that her upcoming memoir, Nice Girls Don’t Win, chronicles her reality TV history and personal story up to this point. It “tells the origin story of how I became the Black Widow, what led me to this point in my life, and then moving through getting married, a divorce, and the challenges that I went through there, and then coming out, falling in love, going on Traitors, and then what’s next. So it’s a very current, up-to-the-moment story that I worked really hard on, and I’m really proud of.”

Her new creative endeavors will be time-consuming, making a Survivor 50 appearance difficult even if she were interested in participating.

“I started a podcast called Nice Girls Don’t Win with story producer Amy Bean, who was out on Deal or No Deal with me, and we’re interviewing interesting people and having really fun conversations there,” Shallow says. “I’ve moved into a whole new arena of creative projects, and I’m really excited about what’s coming next.”

Take it for what it’s worth, but the rumor going around is that CBS told Probst and casting to cut a bunch of new era Survivors from the S50 casting pool and that they want more big names from earlier seasons.  Redmond doesn’t have all the names yet so no idea how many new era people we will ultimately get (people are saying there’s only 3 but I think it’s because Redmond only knows of 3 and doesn’t have the set list yet).

Carolyn (44) and Jesse (43) were reportedly cut.  Carolyn posted on her IG stories about having her summer wide open and tagged a couple of shows.  Maybe they are trolling, too.  Rome (47) reportedly is out as well (considering he spoiled his season I’m surprised he would even be in consideration).  But that one I hope is true.

Here’s some of the names in the mix as of right now, based on their original season (I’m a little skeptical of a couple):

1: Gervase (I’ve also seen Jenna and Greg being floated around)

2: Colby, Jerri, Elisabeth (she was certainly not on my bingo card so not sure how accurate this one is)

4: Sean (seriously hoping!)

10: Stephenie

12: Cirie

15: Amanda

25: Abi-Maria, Malcolm

32: Tai, Cydney

37: Christian, Angelina, Davie

38: Rick

42: Jonathan

46: Q

Spencer Bledsoe was very vocal on SM the other day about being cut and clearly not being happy about it.  Rumor has it that Genevieve was also in the mix but got cut.  In addition, there’s always the chance someone gets bumped because S49 will be filming right before S50 and we could get back to back players  ala Malcolm, Russell, Zeke, and Michaela from seasons past.

There were rumors that no one from the 20s era of Survivor was going to be on but since Redmond still doesn’t have all the names not sure if that’s the case (he also supposedly only has 3 new era names so not sure what we’ll be left with if Probst was told by CBS to go more old school with casting).

'BLOOD IS BOILING' Carolyn Wiger ‘furious’ after she’s ‘cut’ from Survivor 50 – and thinks producers are ‘punishing’ her for Traitors stint
Nicole Chenoweth   Mar 27, 2025
https://www.the-sun.com/tv/13883003/carolyn-wiger-furious-cut-survivor-50-producers-traitors/

Quote

A source claimed: ”Carolyn was told she had a spot on Survivor 50 but now it's not happening.

“It wasn't signed yet but they verbally told her she would be on but just cut her. Without warning.”

The insider added that Carolyn’s “blood is boiling” and she is “furious” about the decision.

“She’s upset mainly because of the reason - she fully believes the producers have a chip on their shoulder about Survivor players who go on to do other shows.
*  *  *
“Carolyn wasn't the only one cut, a few other players from more recent seasons also found out they didn't make it.”

Drug counselor and life coach Carolyn hinted at her anger toward the CBS team in an Instagram Story she posted on Wednesday night.

“Schedule just cleared up for the Summer. Does anyone have a contact at Deal or No Deal Island or Survivor Australia,” she wrote over a clip of her from The Traitors.

She appeared to be taking another stab at the show as the 50th season of Survivor will be filming this Summer.
*  *  *
Carolyn then posted a clip of Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst admitting that he “rolls his eyes” at other television programs “stealing” contestants from his show.

“I do get a little territorial, I’m not going to lie because it’s vicious. It’s tough.

“You got to keep the show as good as possible. You’ve got to be ahead of everybody else.

“I try to remind myself to stay cool, I’m working on it. I really am working on it that we’re not in charge of anyone’s destiny.

“That just because someone went to play Traitors, it doesn’t mean they can’t come back and play Survivor,” Jeff said in a snarky tone with a noticeable smirk at a Survivor fan event.
*  *  *
The longtime face of the franchise continued: “I’m being completely honest that it has bothered me. It doesn’t bother me with Cirie, Cirie is Hall of Fame.

“Cirie can do whatever she wants but if you look at it from our point of view, we might have a returning player in a season in store.

“And then they want to go do this show and that show. It’s a bummer.”

Maybe Carolyn can try to get on Dancing with the Stars.  The same person who casts that show also casts The Traitors.  I do think that Jeff has some weird territorial gate keeping thing about Survivor contestants going on other shows that aren’t Survivor.  It’s like he expects them to be waiting by the phone in hopes he graces them with a call to potentially return to the show (only for them to get passed over by someone whose coming back to play for the 18th time).  But in this case I’m wondering if she was a casualty of CBS wanting older players.

On that note, I’m surprised at the amount of people who think New Era players are getting a raw deal being forced out for potential 3+ time returning players (other than people being concerned about the diversity mandate, which CBS doesn’t have anymore).  I feel like S50 isn’t just a typical all-star season but really a celebration of the shows legacy going back to season 1, and love it or hate that may include bringing back some of the most memorable players for their 10th trip.  I wonder if after what happened during S40 and the casting skewing more recent with winners (who in turn steam rolled over the old school players) if that’s why CBS wanted a better balance.  If it does turn out that a lot of new era players got cut then Probst should try to do another all-star season in a couple of years that skews more towards new era.

I just realized too that S49 should start filming any day, which means S50 will be starting up soon too.  So I wonder if a lot of these contestants were initially locked in or thought they were and now things have changed because CBS wanted something different.

This may actually be the last time some of the earlier seasons players would willingly return as they are all (just like me) getting older and, even though the seasons are much shorter, don't want to put up with some of the inherent conditions of the show.  Maybe they also aren't as good at puzzles and throwing sandbags (there is sarcasm here that doesn't necessarily translate into written form...).

I can see a lot of earlier seasons players not wanting to get involved again.  Boston Rob stated that he wouldn't return to Survivor as a player and I'm sure there are others.

It will be interesting to me to see who they bring back (or who is willing to come back) from the earlier seasons.

All of the Survivor players not in the Survivor 50 cast
The list of players not competing in Survivor 50 is getting longer!
By Bryce Olin   April 3, 2025

So, let's get to it! By my unofficial calculation, there are 10 players who have officially ruled themselves out for Survivor 50. We don't know if they weren't interested in playing or if they were cut by production in each case, but it definitely seems like some of these players were cut after being told they looked like they could return.

Here are those 10 players:

  • Benjamin "Coach" Wade
  • Parvati Shallow
  • Spencer Bledsoe
  • Rome Cooney
  • Jesse Lopez
  • Carolyn Wiger
  • Natalie Tenerelli
  • Jessica "Figgy" Figueroa
  • Caryn Groedel
  • Wanda Shirk
  • Russell Hantz

*  *  *
We've also seen Kass McQuillen, Boston Rob Mariano, and Tyson Apostol trolling about Survivor 50 on social media, too. It's been a lot for Survivor fans to take in over the last few weeks. There's also been tons of rumors about CBS getting involved and cutting many new era players who were in consideration. I don't know where that rumor started, but who knows if it's true? We'll just have to wait and see when the cast heads to Fiji in a few months!

Survivor reveals third round of fan voting categories for season 50
How twisty do you like your "Survivor"? Time to vote and find out.
By Dalton Ross   April 16, 2025
https://ew.com/survivor-reveals-third-round-fan-voting-categories-season-50-11715239

Quote

Which is to say, it’s almost time for another round of Survivor 50 fan voting. The latest round of fully sanctioned fan interference will once again be available when host Jeff Probst officially opens the round three voting during tonight’s episode of Survivor 48, and then folks can go to https://survivor50cbs.votenow.tv/ to vote.
*  *  *
While one Survivor 48 player will win the coveted immunity necklace on tonight’s episode, fans will actually be able to vote on the look of the season 50 immunity necklace, making the island jewelry the latest design element viewers can control. (Fans also decided the tribe colors in the first round of voting.)

The necklace itself may not impact the actual gameplay, but the other categories open for voting will. Viewers will also vote on if the players will be given supplies like a pot, machete, and flint as in early seasons, or if they will have to earn them via a challenge, task, or some other method, as has become standard in the post-Winners at War new era of the show.
*  *  *
The final category open for voting is sure to be the one most open to debate among fans, as the question centers around just how twisty they want Survivor 50 to be. Do they want lots of twists thrown in to shake things up, or would they prefer to see a pure, old-school Survivor experience? The third category takes aim at that, posing the following question to fans: “The right twist at the right moment can change the game for players in exciting ways. But some fans prefer a more straightforward game where strategic alliances are all that matter. Which are you?”

So that latest scoop on the cast, per Redmond (this post also includes people that were cut).  It doesn’t list names, just gender and season, but is probably easy enough to figure out.  Whose apparently in that Redmond feels confident about:

-Australian Outback: 1 man and 1 woman (likely Colby and the women who were being speculated were Jerri, Elisabeth, and reportedly Alicia)

-Palau: 1 woman (has to be Stephenie)

-Panama: 1 woman (most likely Cirie)

-China: 1 woman (Amanda has been rumored)

-Heroes/Healers/Hustlers: 1 woman (probably Chrissy is my guess)

-David vs Goliath: 1 man and 1 woman (might be Christian and Angelina, as I’ve seen their names speculated a bunch)

-Survivor 45: 1 woman (reportedly there’s no winners don’t wouldn’t be Dee)

-Survivor 46: 1 man (some people think Q or Charlie, although Q claims he was cut I believe)

Other possibilities: Cook Islands (2 men, one might be Ozzy), Survivor 42 (1 man), Survivor 48 (1 woman).  Redmond is reportedly 60-70% confident on these whereas he’s about 90% confident on the others.

Apparently CBS did have a hand in overriding Probst, who wanted more 1-time players and more new era contestants.

Although it wouldn't ever happen-I'd love them to bring back some of the older survivors who don't want to 'play' again but would like to be a part of the 50th season celebration as judges or jury members.  Bring back the 'build the best shelter' and make the 'best SOS sign' challenges and have former survivors judge who win.  Heck, bring back the former chef contestant (Keith?) to judge who makes the best fish meal.  Maybe put a couple of Survivor alumni on the jury to serve as jury 'foreman' or something.  Bring them back in other capacities-these are the people I want to see, even if they're not actually playing the game.

They did something similar a few seasons ago with Rob and Sandra. They did not play, but acted as some sort of counsel. Made no sense to me, but maybe someone else can fill you in on the details because IMO it added nothing to game.

I've seen on Reddit and Sucks that David's new girlfriend may possibly be a woman named Sara Wilson, who was the first boot from S41.  Some people were saying "there was a Sara on that season?"  And I'm sitting here saying "we had a S41?"

While I get where people are coming from with new era Survivor's getting the shaft for S50, I think they are missing the point that it isn't just a regular all-stars season.  I totally see why Jeff wanted it to be more new era; after tonight I can definitely see why CBS vetoed the idea.  I think there will still be a decent amount for S50, just probably not everyone people wanted to see.

Funny.  I remember Sara very well.  She lost her father to COVID.  I felt so bad for her, and even worse when she ended up being Ua's first boot when she really did nothing wrong that first week.  She's one of the few early boots who simply got booted for being a bit unlucky.

Some more news from Redmond:

-He’s hearing of 7-8 new era players in the mix (before it was 3-4).

-there’s now a 48 male in the mix and still a 48 female

-1 additional player form 46 (he believes it’s a male player)

-still no winners that he’s heard of but won’t rule it out completely

-no male contestants from 41

Casting should probably be getting finalized by now.

So it seems like the cast is being revealed Wednesday (poor S49, they are this era’s Koah Rong).  The last 3 IG posts (including Kamilla’s reel) seem to indicate this.  Guess they know it’s inevitable the cast will get fully spoiled so might as well reveal it.  If that’s the case through I’m wondering if anyone from S49 is on, because that might be a give away how well that person did.

So if the rumors are correct, winners are back in and the cast will have more new era representation than previously thought.  Guess we’ll find out for sure on Wednesday!

Though it’s probably unlikely, Redmond thinks there’s maybe a chance there will be some kind of vote for who people want to see on the season.

So take this for what it’s worth but this is the rumored cast for S50.  It comes via a spoiler source at Sucks (Survivors Unite) who had gotten pretty accurate spoiler info in the past.  I think I remember some of their spoilers for WAW were wrong, but they were misled by their source.  Anyway, we’ll see if Redmond has his own list that differs or if we get surprised on Wednesday!  I did hear they might have a bigger cast for this season, though 22 seems like a lot (wondering if any of these folks are alternates).  I am disappointed by the amount of new era rep, especially 3 people from S48, and I’m still wondering if we get someone from S49.  If this list is true, I hope they split up Q/Tiffany and Joe/Kyle/Kamilla in the beginning.  I just don’t want a repeat of WAW with the new era steam rolling over old era.

ETA: Ron Clark (S37) said on his IG story that this list is wrong, but then deleted his post about it.  I’m trying to read through the comments at Sucks so I’m not sure if this person knows 100% if this is the accurate list or not (especially new era people).  Most of these names I can see but some are surprising.

1.    Q Burdette (46)
2.    Charlie Davis (46)
3.    Colby Donaldson (Australian Outback)
4.    Cirie Fields (Panama)
5.    Emily Flippen (45)
