ASpring1900 February 16 Share February 16 Love this!! I think Cady and Jon will bring even more eyes to this soap. Great news. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8582189
Joimiaroxeu February 16 Share February 16 Re Cady McClain, I'd be curious to know who approached whom. Did the BTG producers recruit her or did she make the first overture? She's become a known show-hopper so I'd be surprised if she stuck around beyond the next sweeps period if that long. But anyways...All My Children fans represent for Dixie! 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8582252

I mostly enjoyed her on As The World Turns. She had a horrifying scene where her and Roger Howarth played with water glasses and it was so irritating I switched the channel lol. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8582725
ByaNose February 17 Share February 17 I think Jon & Cady are bff’s with the creator and head writer MVJ. It doesn’t say if it’s short or long term or if it’s contract or non contract. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8583337
Joimiaroxeu February 21 Share February 21 (edited) Tamara Tunie was on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night. I was stunned and impressed with her regal and imposing bearing. It was almost like she was staying in character as Anita Dupree. Colbert usually manages to crack a joke or two with every guest no matter how important they are, but you could see he was not gonna try it with TT. (Also, word may have come down from the CBS bigwigs not to say anything remotely sarcastic or negative about BTG.) cleo February 22 Share February 22 Well I have set my DVR to record this but honestly I don't know how I will fit in an hour long show, 5 eps a week. That's the schedule right? I am a soap fan, but that's a big commitment now lol. More than anything thst might affect how long I stick with it. Are there any shows that maintain that type of schedule anymore? I guess the current running soaps, none of which I watch. Those soaps I assume are existing on long time viewers. But series tend to run shorter now, even reality tv shows. I wonder if they've considered that impact in trying to get a new audience. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8588294

cleo February 23 Share February 23 Yeah I thought of thst after I posted....the difference with those is people don't have to watch every day. I mean soaps can be skipped too. Maybe it's just me, I really love the idea of a new soap but I'm pretty sure I'll be hopelessly behind within 2 weeks. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8588429

That's the schedule right? This is how I feel every year with Love Island USA- and that is 6 eps a week, each with a longer running time than 60 minutes. I'll probably end up watching a lot of BTG episodes on the weekends, or even Sunday nights, when I am usually light on shows to watch. I'll say again-- I'm so glad to see a new soap on a major broadcast network and the amount of publicity it is getting (I think I saw on Twitter that there is a huge Times Square billboard for the show). I've never watched a soap from the beginning, so this will be great. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8588677

I have a feeling this will be me after the first week or two. But with streaming, it still gets counted. The advantage BTG has is that it all will be new and shiny. The existing soaps are really tired. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8589087
ShadowHunter February 24 Share February 24 They just did a tribute at the SAG Awards to actors who started on Soaps. I'm actually surprised. I haven't seen soaps mentioned this much in years. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8589362
Irlandesa February 24 Share February 24 I expect this will get some big numbers initially. They've done a lot of marketing for it. It'll be interesting to see how long it maintains those numbers. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8589751

mbluecpa Saturday at 03:14 PM Share Saturday at 03:14 PM I guess this is technically Anticipation since it was presented on the eve of the premier: The Paley Center for Media had a sit-down hour with Sheila Ducksworth, Tamara Tunie, and Daphnee Duplaix. Some good behind-the-scenes and backstory stories of how the show came about. As someone noted above, even in a less formal Q&A format, Tamara Tunie REALLY commands a room. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150424-beyond-the-gates-anticipation/page/2/#findComment-8594698
MissAlmond Sunday at 02:01 PM Share Sunday at 02:01 PM I've seen clips of Beyond the Gates and it's obviously trying to pull me back in to the world of soaps. However, unlike Michael Corleone, I refuse to do so but do wish the show - and especially Tamara Tunie - the best of luck.
