Andrea receives devastating news.

Well this time the promo was actually true to the story shown. But they missed her bigger story since she isn't on a Mickey case, her Chief Deputy DA cock blocking Micky while they are going with DA's and their investigators, and  defense attorneys being antagonistic out of court with each other.

Anyway, wouldn't the abusive ex have had a policeman with him the whole time?

If I remembered the plea deal correctly he was only getting a year in jail and probation. If that memory is correct given how the jails are run  I doubt if the Sheriff would put a deputy on him

Good question.  I did find this online, specific to Los Angeles County.

The following inmates are not eligible to attend funerals:

  • Homicide suspects
  • Potential two or three strike inmates
  • Inmates classified as an “escape risk” or “dangerous”
  • Inmates with “no bail” designation
  • Inmates with previous or current restraining orders
  • Inmates with previous or current domestic violence charges
  • Inmates with weapons violations or any violent crime convictions

That guy should never have been allowed out of jail.

Something about this season - so far - seems overly complicated and convoluted.  Maybe they are trying too hard to set up a twist - but it seemed that things were always leading back to the crooked cop.

The dance studio drama seems unnecessary. Why bother with that?

It may be a directing decision or acting choice, but Andrea is not believable as a government employee. Her whole vibe is fashionista attorney at a firm that caters to corporations and wealthy clients.

I was thinking about that, too. My guess is that the show wanted more for her character to do. She was driving Mickey and then being promoted to office manager, but that's not a lot for a popular character. (I assume she's a popular character. I know I like her a lot.)

Could Eddie be working for whoever is following him? Probably not.  I wondered if someone was watching his twitch stream, too, and could tell where they were.

That's the first thing I thought when Mickey discovered he was being followed and Cisco didn't find any tracker on his car. Also, I think they all share waaaaaay too much information in front of that kid, a lot more than they did last season when Izzy was Mickey's driver.  My money is still on him being the spy.

I can't remember what it's called when a prisoner is let out for something like a funeral -- a Cruz something? -- Anyway, wouldn't the abusive ex have had a policeman with him the whole time?

Yeah that was a big plothole I think. Of course when Andrea forgot to make the phone call we all knew immediately the poor woman was gonna die, but to let a prisoner out for a whole day without being escorted everywhere by a policeman really seems like too much of a stretch.

Yes. By chance I attended one day of a big murder trial in NYC last week.  The two women DAs were wearing dowdy gray skirt suits.  It’s not only about the cost but also the appearance.

You wouldn’t want to look like a fashionista at a murder trial.  It would give the wrong impression.

Not only this, but her failure to notify the victim was inexcusable. Mickey was really taking it too lightly trying to make her feel better.
