txhorns79 October 10 Share October 10 Quote Simone and Lucas work to balance their relationship while competing to assist on an awake kidney transplant. txhorns79 October 11 Author Share October 11 Everything Sydney said about Ben and his inability to stick to a career path was true. Her comment about what was going to happen when Ben was distracted by the next shiny object was completely on point. That Ben threw a fit and walked away from the interview should have been the end of it. That she hired him anyways was totally eye rolling. Also wondered how DNR lady who hated her ex-husband so much that she wanted to refuse an advanced directive out of spite so she could outlive him, had no idea he was already dead. That seems like something she would have kept close tabs on. 4 Link to comment
anna0852 October 11 Share October 11 (edited) I get that Richard is upset about Catherine’s health issues, but he really doesn’t need to be mad at Meredith. When he was confronting her in the hall, I was really expecting her to tell him that she had kept quiet because she was already on thin ice with Catherine and she’s not allowed to break HIPPA Edited October 17 by anna0852 5 1 Link to comment
Pepper the Cat October 11 Share October 11 If someone wants to be a full code that is their choice. While the docs were right to fully discuss the risks they were wrong to pressure her into changing her mind. 6 2 Link to comment
babyrambo October 11 Share October 11 Sydney’s passive aggressive way of communicating is annoying but she’s felt like the voice of the audience since she popped back up. She isn’t wrong about the doctor’s nepotism (I thought they brought Nick to finally revisit Adams’ ADHD but since even the writers seem to have forgotten that plot, it’s probably time to give up hope) and she isn’t wrong about Ben. Others have mentioned his indecision to him but it never makes a difference and even for TV his flip flopping career habit is ridiculous. 5 hours ago, txhorns79 said: That Ben threw a fit and walked away from the interview should have been the end of it. I’m always happy to see her happy, and her moment with Catherine was a rare bit of regular non-villain writing for Catherine that I really liked. The revolving main cast really works for me because the interns continue to be more interesting. They’re finally setting up Yasuda’s exit and I guess a sick sibling is better than a death sentence, but for her and Jules to have so much chemistry, they sure ended on an understandable but lacklustre note. But since this is Greys, I can foresee some last minute love confessions once she’s actually about to leave, regardless of if they ring true or not. 3 Link to comment

That seems like something she would have kept close tabs on. I was thinking the same thing. "She's determined to outlive him even if she's suffering but she doesn't even know where he is?" It also bothered me that they were pressuring her so much. Your job is to make sure the patient understands the risks and, as long as she is of sound mind, to respect her wishes. My grandmother had a DNR because of her cancer. When she landed in the hospital with pneumonia, she decided to reverse it (because I think she thought she could beat it and also got scared). I'm sure they told her all the possibilities, but they didn't insist she keep it in place. She died on a ventilator which is not what she had wanted, but she was allowed to make her own decisions. I remember my dad saying something along the lines of when someone is fragile enough that extraordinary measures will almost certainly make their life worse and their heart starts to fail, "a good doctor walks slow." 7 hours ago, anna0852 said: I guess that Richard is upset about Catherine’s health issues, but he really doesn’t need to be mad at Meredith. When he was confronting her in the hall, I was really expecting her to tell him that she had kept quiet because she was already on thin ice with Catherine and she’s not allowed to break HIPPA HIPAA was really all she needed to cite. It bothers me how it only seems to matter to these doctors when it suits their goals. Her patient, while of sound mind and capable of making her own decisions, did not authorize her doctors to discuss her treatment with anyone. That's all that matters. Once she was in a position to not be able to make decisions for herself, they notified her husband. I get that he's upset but he's a surgeon and should understand the legal obligations; that doesn't change just because he sees Meredith as family. He should be angry with Catherine because she is the one who insisted on not telling him. Though I also wondered how Catherine really thought she could be a patient there and no one would find out. Like, really? 4 Link to comment

I was expecting something about that after they left the room, like, "It worked!" 5 Link to comment
marceline October 12 Share October 12 I know it's an old talking point but does this hospital have an HR department? Because the way hiring decisions get made is lunacy. I feel like somewhere there's a door marked "Human Resources" but it's just a portal to another universe. 1 7 Link to comment

You mean "I want to be chief again, just ignore what I did to get fired even though you said no five minutes ago" (five minutes, a day, a week...time matters not) "Okay." is not a realistic (re-)rehiring process? And, "oh, yeah, I hired your flaky husband even though he walked out of the interview so it doesn't look like favoritism when you take your job back from me and inevitably hire him yourself because of course you will"? 4 2 2 Link to comment
Madding crowd October 13 Share October 13 I didn’t like the doctors pressuring the old woman to sign the DNR. It’s her business what she wants to do. Meredith seems like a mannequin to me now; emotionless and robotic. I also don’t think the interns have much of a personality. The original MAGIC all had interesting and different personalities. Yasuda has a different personality every week. Sometimes she is sweet, other times haughty and bitter. The others are just there. I still like Hunt, Bailey and Richard and Nick is good too. 5 Link to comment
