AimingforYoko July 24, 2024 Share July 24, 2024 Quote At the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, a young Bob Dylan shakes up his act on the folk music scene by going electric and siring rock as the voice of a generation - defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th century music. Trailer: That's some pretty good mimicry. Not Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles good, but pretty good. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/148827-a-complete-unknown-2024/
Spartan Girl July 24, 2024 Share July 24, 2024 Are you freaking kidding me?! Chalamet not only gets to play Laurie, Willy Wonka, and Paul Atriedes, now he’s playing Bob fucking Dylan too?! I mean, this isn’t exactly bad casting, but still!!! Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/148827-a-complete-unknown-2024/#findComment-8419072

He apparently wants to be the white Chadwick Boseman. 1 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/148827-a-complete-unknown-2024/#findComment-8419111

AimingforYoko December 25, 2024 Author Share December 25, 2024 This was really good. I liked that they weren't afraid to show Bob as the prickly asshole he sometimes was. Chalamet did a great job, but everyone was quite good, and I have to give Edward Norton(speaking of prickly assholes) mention as Pete Seeger. His expressions of astonishment when Bob started connecting with audiences was some great acting. There was some messing with the when's and where's of particular events, but all in all they pretty much got it right. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/148827-a-complete-unknown-2024/#findComment-8540298
Browncoat December 28, 2024 Share December 28, 2024 I saw this this afternoon, and agree it was really good. I questioned casting Ed Norton as Pete Seeger, but it worked well. In fact, after seeing it, I have no quibbles about any of the casting. Everyone did a good job -- the guy playing Woody Guthrie did some amazing face acting, too. I loved that they weren't afraid to show these people as the assholes they could be. I mean, Pete Seeger is a folk hero, but he was also a flawed human being. And I think it's pretty well known that Bob Dylan is a real piece of work. Talented as hell when it comes to songwriting, but an enormous jerk. I know the cast all sang, but did they play the instruments? Did they know how before filming, or did they learn? It's not hard to believe someone might already know how to play piano or guitar, but banjo's pretty unusual (Steve Martin notwithstanding). I know Chalamet and Barbaro were really playing (they had years to prepare due to production delays). 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/148827-a-complete-unknown-2024/#findComment-8541825
