Bugs related to 1/8/24 site update (show-topics to show-forums migration)

I keep getting randomly kicked out after I log in. It happens a lot after I try to make a post. It started happening after the big update—I’m on iPad Safari—and it’s really annoying. Can you fix this.

Thanks for reporting. We're not able to replicate this bug on our end. If anyone else reading this is having the same issue, would love it if you could weigh in with your platform/browser.

I never log out on my Chromebook and I had this happen over the summer. When I tried to log in it said  error code. SilverStormm tried a couple things during a dm session and couldn’t figure it out. Someone last spring had an issue like this and desperately started a topic for help. I think they were finally able to fix it for them after they begged for help but so far my issue hasn't been tackled. I can log in as guest on my Chromebook and sign in and also on my iphone but not when logged in on Chromebook.

Three glitches since last behind the scenes and seemingly still ongoing update:

Are dm’s disabled? I can add person/subject but the post box does not open. The poster is aware that I was going to dm and approved me doing so. I also tested using several mods as options with the same result.

Add files option doesn’t have “insert” so the file, in this case a screenshot of what is happening in the above dm question, can’t be loaded. I waited two minutes to see if it would auto load and it didn’t. 
 

Usually when a post posts it automatically doesn’t show up again when you open up to do another post. In this case my post above was still in the reply box and there is no “clear editor” or however it used to be worded option. So I manually deleted what was there.

I sent a test message to you but could not do an attachment. Later I will go to the testzone and see if I can play around with it. Right now inserting attachments isn’t working for me. 
I have a screenshot attachment on the file box. I will post and see if it automatically shows up now. Perhaps the update just doesn’t show “insert file” anymore, just automatically does it when you post?

edit to add: the screenshot showed up so yes it seems that a file is automatically inserted after you hit send reply without having the “insert file”  showing up before you hit reply.

Shows that I previously unfollowed (in some cases years ago) are suddenly appearing under "My Shows" again. Do I need to go in and unfollow all of them manually?

Sorry to say that yes, this was an unintended consequence of the recent site update. You will indeed need to unfollow each of them manually.

With show forums like Community that got vaulted and converted into a single thread, could those vaulted forums please be un-vaulted and merged with the new forums for the show?

We've been talking about this.  We want to do it in a considered way, but the short answer is yes!

I'm bummed anew about the entire M section of the vault going poof in that huge site update years ago, so those archived threads can't be brought back, but happy to hear there's discussion about how to bring back at least some of the rest -- there's a lot of great discussion gathering dust in the vault.

Not sure if it's the same issue, but this has been happening to me a lot lately (I log in only on my laptop, with GoogleChrome). Especially when I opened some topic or category in a new tab, I got logged out. It seems to be ok for now once I started to keep the "Remember Me" box checked when logging. I used to always uncheck the box before logging in, but so far it seems like I don't get logged out when it's checked so I keep it that way for now.

I posted a picture as a spoiler, so readers could choose whether or not to be offended. The picture is showing up on the right side of the screen with the other preview stuff. I blurred it in my screenshot. I'm not sure if this is a new problem because I don't believe I've ever used a spoiler.

Thanks for flagging this. The issue you're encountering with the spoiler image showing up in the preview area is indeed stemming from a recent site update. The system wasn't originally designed with the consideration that images might be posted as spoilers. At this time, there's no immediate fix available for this problem. We'll update if there is a fix in the future.
