Here we are at last!  I understand that Stage 2 has MOAR SIDE-BY-SIDE racing, but Stage 1 may be blissfully race-free!  We'll see!

Whoops, that should be Episode 11, but I don't think it will let me edit the header.  Sorry, y'all.

Ugh with the Mom thing. Plenty of the guys have kids and they don't make a big deal about OMG HE'S A DAD AND WOW HE CAN DO THIS THING! Sure having given birth can make it harder to stay in shape (at least temporarily if it didn't lead to other health issues) but clearly these people are motivated to do so for other reasons, like any other athlete.

And FIRST MOM! Sandy Zimmerman went down on the second obstacle. lol.

I’m minutes behind. Wait, so the top 24 qualify, regardless of whether they succeeded or not? I think that means someone could win $1 million and hit two buzzers. That feels wrong to me.

Her fall was epic. And we should note that it’s the mom narrative we’re sick about, not necessarily her.

ETA: Flip fails, but he’ll probably advance. I just saw Barclay Stockett time out. Counts as a moral victory, right?

The flip into jumping spider cost him a bunch of seconds.  He's just lucky that the fast kids weren't that fast tonight

The girl who was edited to have run first: did she not know or maybe not understand that when you are running against the clock, it's ignorant to stop and wave and people and jump up and down being so proud of herself?  We see this often enough that I wonder if they just don't listen to the "you have 34seconds to complete the run" "Now move!"

The spider splash downs are enjoyable.
Tonight we didn't see the guy with the prosthetic leg (who beat Dan Gill) and I wondered how some of these obstacles could mess with him,

Well, that was poignant.  It still had the flavor of the series that it used to be, backstories and all.  And NO SIDE-BY-SIDE RACING!

I do hope Flip makes it through to the finals.  And it's upsetting that the (stupid) new format means that a lot of seasoned ninjas weren't there this year.  I know it's unlikely they will ditch the side-by-side races, but I wish they would.

I am SO over the whole "first mom" thing.  Can we just let the woman do her run?  Also, I'm all about being true to yourself and all, but I doubt that Bob Reese's baby cares whether he does a flip or not.  A million dollars, on the other hand, would be a very nice basis for a college fund, not to mention to all of the expenses involved in having a baby and raising a child.

It looks like we get another nice trip down memory lane next week, and then onto Stage 2.

It is. She's had a tough few years, and getting back on a ninja course is one of her few pleasures. She did really well. Timed out, never fell. She knew she had no chance of finishing--too short, not strong or fast enough--but she does really well for a female.

I think she made it further than any other female last night. HUGE moral victory.

For those that aren't aware, she is one of the most popular ninjas. She travels the world, competing in ninja tourneys. She gets invited to most of the big ones. Very well-loved competitor.

I was glad that Joe Moravsky (?) made it with all those youngsters.  I hope Josiah (The Boss) gets through because he's one of the few youngsters whose name I remember.

Unless we have a bunch of superstars next week, James "the Beast", Flip, and most of the others who made it to the net should get through.

Not sure I agree. What percentage of people who finish stage 1 have won the million dollars? Is it as high as 1%? It's a remote possibility. In contrast, a great clip for social media has a known value. Going after the somersault video is a better financial bet.

Her whole identity is built around being the first mom. It is definitely about her.

She's a gym teacher, for Pete's sake. She should be physically fit.
