Runningwild January 20, 2023 Share January 20, 2023 Ian really enjoying this show. Probably the best acting and best production values I’ve seen in a Christian show/movie. 4 1 Link to comment

hiisa April 2, 2023 Share April 2, 2023 I love this show. It humanizes Christ in a way I didn't even know I needed. Anyway. Simon is BY FAR my least favorite. He is bossy and mean and it doesn't help that Matthew is BY FAR my favorite so Simon being a jerk to Matthew just grinds my gears. But as we are deep into season 3 Simon especially is growing. The season 2 premiere is still my favorite episode so far. Every time I watch it I sob. 4 Link to comment
Madding crowd June 14, 2023 Share June 14, 2023 My sisters talked me into watching this and I am really enjoying it. Some of the modern jargon takes me out of the story occasionally, but the acting is great. I also love the character of Matthew. 1 Link to comment
Kiss my mutt June 14, 2023 Share June 14, 2023 I absolutely loves this series and can’t wait for season four. It is well done and has really awakened my desire to ready my Bible more. I have a crush on Simon Peter. Oops, better repent, he’s married. Lol 2 Link to comment

Arkay September 16, 2023 Share September 16, 2023 Just started watching. I hadn’t heard of this show before, but I think they do a phenomenal job of showing Jesus as a man of his time, particularly a Jewish man. Very well-acted and with high production values 4 Link to comment
MerBearHou October 28, 2023 Share October 28, 2023 I had never heard of the series but was at a dinner last night where Dallas Jenkins spoke. He was so genuine and bright and I told my husband ‘we have to start watching this”. I just watched the first 4 episodes of season 1 and to me, it’s so interesting and makes the Bible come alive in a very relatable way. Jonathan Roumie who plays Jesus is just right, from the first episodes I’ve seen. Dallas talked about casting actors and how they imagined people in the Bible would look like. He talked about how much research they do and how Scripture is the absolute guideline, and they fill in scenes and dialogue with what would be plausible. I actually enjoy the little anachronisms in dialogue and scenes. 3 1 Link to comment
Lonesome Rhodes December 26, 2023 Share December 26, 2023 Excellent series. I particularly like how the Romans are portrayed. No dummies, they. My main criticism is that the female characters are seen as way more forceful than those patriarchal times would have allowed. Instead of being cowed and ever weary in public, I see confident and strong women. This is a serious anachronism. This is not to say they weren't intelligent and brave IRL. They had to be. To that end, they knew their place (in the patriarchy). Roumie's Christ is the best portrayal I have yet seen. I've just watched the 2023 Christmas special/movie. I very much enjoyed that we saw a slice of the sheperds' lives. The Joseph/Mary dynamic carried on the series' propensity to give us women in charge. This Joseph was certainly faithful and strong. He exhibited serious wisdom, as well. Yet. Mary was always proven out to be the wisest. The reveal at the end of this show seemed reasonable to me. It was fascinating to see a Mary in physical decline as she aged. Here again, TPTB were quite reasonable in their imagining of those scenes. For me, The Chosen is the finest dramatic presentation of those super significant times. 4 1 Link to comment
stcroix February 6 Share February 6 I've found this late but am loving it! I'm on Season 2 episode 7: Reckoning I especially enjoyed around 27 minutes in where the Roman Quintus speaks with Jesus -- both actors were brilliant in this exchange. 1 Link to comment
Madding crowd February 10 Share February 10 (edited) I went to the theater to see the first three episodes of season 4 and it was amazing storytelling. It was actually more powerful watching it on a big screen and I will watch it again when it airs on the app. Edited February 10 by Madding crowd 1 1 Link to comment

Davidxvj April 25 Share April 25 I'm starting to get upset though. It's a great show, but why aren't they airing it? They say that it's about money, but you can't even pay to see it on any streaming network. So events about money at least allow people to pay to see it on some streaming network like vudu or amc And get paid like it doesn't make sense that we're having to wait this long.To see season four it's not fair 3 Link to comment
Davidxvj May 3 Share May 3 (edited) You think they care that they're upsetting people? It's been too long for them.To not have released season 4, it's not understandable. They have their own app. They're already starting production O season 5.It's like what's the hold up Edited May 3 by Davidxvj 1 Link to comment
AnimeMania June 3 Share June 3 (edited) The Chosen Season 4 is currently on The Chosen App and will air on The CW with a two-hour premiere (2 episodes?) on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 8pm. The Chosen Season 4 will also air on BYUtv at a later date. Edited June 3 by AnimeMania 2 Link to comment
Stevenlbass June 17 Share June 17 For the most part The Chosen is enjoyable to watch, however there are several glaring defects. The two most disturbing in my opinion are Edan's miscarriage and Rehm's death. There is absolutely no way Jesus would have let either die. It's unfortunate that many people let their experience dictate their understanding of who God is rather than the truth. It is always God's will to heal. Link to comment
Lonesome Rhodes June 23 Share June 23 TPTB made a serious misstep when they showed the gang performing a skit based on Biblical happenings/Hebrew history. Thomas is still seriously grieving Ramah's death, yet they portrayed time after time folks being stabbed. This was staggering and perverted disregard by them all. As awful as that was, Mary washing her son's hair as she did when he was a boy was marvelous. For a brief moment, Jesus was allowed to have innocence predominate his thoughts. Mary had her son back, as well. Fantastic moment, imo. The stoning at the Temple was one of those instances where I believe The Chosen performs a tremendous service. The confrontation happened, but is not described in scripture to have been so brutal. It really worked for me. I've ben bothered by the seeming cluelessness of most every follower as to the horrors of what was imminent. I'm glad TPTB went there. I'm interested to see if DJ has them revert to form, or if this was a seminal moment for the characters. 1 Link to comment
Lonesome Rhodes July 1 Share July 1 (edited) So much to internalize about the Season 4 Finale. Two things I believe I will remember for a long time are 1) Jesus tearing up when he answered to the question of his use of the word, "burial." 2) The knowing and terrible conversation Jesus had with his mother when she brought him his satchel which contained the bridle. I never would have imagined Jesus weeping in front of his followers and a rabbi of the Sanhedrin as he affirmed the horrors to come for the umpteenth time. This was a super intriguing choice by DJ, and likely, Jonathan. The song, "Mary, Did You Know?" was running through my head when the conversation with Mary. Yes. She did know. She also, imo, knew it was important to force a smile of understanding and support. I was a watery mess as I watched it unfold. Overall, I commend TPTB for another excellent season of storytelling.
