Meredith Quill December 7, 2022 Share December 7, 2022 Quote In the past, family man Leo tries to leave his life of crime behind, but a tempting job and a persuasive partner make old habits hard to break. Link to comment
Guest January 2, 2023 Share January 2, 2023 That was dark. I really hope that Hannah is revealed to be the actually mastermind. I really want her to get a win. Link to comment
SoMuchTV January 2, 2023 Share January 2, 2023 Between this show and Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, Giancarlo Esposito really seems to be the go-to guy for playing himself at a younger age! 1 Link to comment
PrincessPurrsALot January 2, 2023 Share January 2, 2023 Young Hannah was great. I still am not enamored with the hair and makeup for this show. Giancarlo is so good but they made it hard with the excessive looking makeup and poorly fit wig. I now know why the big bad is the big bad, so that's a plus. 2 Link to comment
Anela January 6, 2023 Share January 6, 2023 Did her mum die? That one guy just taking off when he could have saved her. What a POS. Link to comment
Haleth January 7, 2023 Share January 7, 2023 I think Lily died. That was so sad. I guess being down in "the cave" she didn't smell the smoke until it was too late. I suppose Ray was blamed for the fire as well as his thefts catching up with him. I can see how he'd blame himself too. If he hadn't agreed to do the job there would have been no fire and Lily would have lived. I'm surprised she knew about Ray's career as a thief. Usually on tv the husband will try to keep it a secret. Poor Hannah. Gah. I hate the format. I so want to talk context! 3 Link to comment
leighdear January 8, 2023 Share January 8, 2023 (edited) 4th episode watched. That was the best one so far. Yeah, the hair & makeup was weird, but we got the gist. Bonus musical points for The Verve, but minus points for calling the song "Praise You" instead of the correct "Bitter Sweet Symphony". And Super Extra bonus points for NO BOB. Thank goodness. I'm glad Lily knew about Ray's burglaries, before he opened the shop. I also hate the clueless spouse trope, who only finds out after their partner is arrested that they were a criminal. Ava wouldn't have found a foster family for Hannah if Lily had been alive. So often it's the smoke inhalation rather than the fire that kills folks. Poor Ray having to watch her die. G. Esposito is such a pro at the emotional stuff. Is it just me, or does he sometimes sound like Morgan Freeman? Edited January 8, 2023 by leighdear 2 Link to comment
ZeeEnnui January 11, 2023 Share January 11, 2023 I can't get over how bad the special effects to make Giancarlo Esposito look "young" are. It was distracting. His makeup looked only slightly better than the gangsters from the Dick Tracy movie from the 90s. Also anyone rocking that hard to Sugar Ray -- I don't care if you pulled off a heist, there is no excuse for that musical bs, Rufus Sewell's terrible wig! -- is a clear villain. Link to comment
Kel Varnsen May 24, 2023 Share May 24, 2023 This was my third one and I liked how it didn't go where I expected. I was expecting just a straight double cross where Ray's partner sells him out either to the cops or someone more dangerous. But Ray wanted back in when his business was failing and his wife got fired and he chose to rob the club. Even the guy not saving his wife wasn't super cut and dry. Do they play different music based on the episode order? Because in the one I watched they were definitely playing Praise You by Fatboy Slim when Ray was cracking the safe and Roger was downstairs with the girls and the guy they were robbing.
