I had never heard of Made in Abyss, and I also never hated a main character so much after just one episode. So I looked it up and basically, torture porn. Was anyone asking for this? Why does Toonami think this is a good idea?

Attack on Titan. Granted, that’s more emotional torture porn.

Once again . . . One Piece! Nothing porn-like about that!

No Demon Slayer season 2. It's success has made it too expensive for Toonami.

Huh?

How expensive could it be to import? C'mon, doesn't Toonami have Time-Warner money? Maybe they could run the second season and not air . . . oh, I dunno . . . the next batch of filler in Naruto: Shippuden. I heard the Infinite Tsukuomi filler is six months long. Who needs that?

Glad to hear Blade Runner is over... No interest in that one. And Shenmue is terrible.

That really sucks about Demon Slayer. :(  I hope they could still at least afford to re-run the first season sometime. If they're re-running Shippuden, Bebop, and One Piece, I wouldn't mind seeing Fairy Tail or Bleach in the lineup again. I wonder why they've never ran Sailor Moon (the VIZ dub) or Sailor Moon Crystal--also too expensive for them?

Shenmue ends tonight, schedule changes for the next two weeks. AS will lead at midnight with an extra Shippuden, then Primal season 1 takes over. Surprised they don't have anything new on deck. We still don't have a premiere date for Uzumaki or the new horror series they announced. Dr Stone season 2 has already been broadcast in Japan so maybe we'll get that next.

Way past bedtime for me, but I should mention the second season of Dr. Stone has been broadcast on Toonami already.

Also, I think Attack on Titan is over . . . at least the latest batch from the “final season.” My fear is that Luffy will become King of the Pirates before that series ends.

So, Housing Complex C.

Lovecraft in Japan. They start with a flash-forward, then a flash-back to ancient times. I'd rather they hadn't done that, it seemed way too spoilery for me. It would have been better if they let the creepiness build on its own and have the horror blossom from that instead of front-loading your expectations. YMMV.

I was thinking it's like a Japanese equivalent of building on an ancient Indian burial ground. We didn't see Kimi's mother did we, just Kimi talking at her. Very sus. Only four episodes so they will have to move the story along quickly.

Watching the last episode now. What. The actual. Fuck. Exposition and gore in an unholy slurry, and I think a lack of knowledge of Japanese culture doesn’t help me at all.

Next three weeks, next three “events”:

THIS WEEK: Injustice, based on the video game where Superman goes totalitarian after the death of Lois.

NEXT WEEK: Justice League vs. Fatal Five, featuring the new take on the Legion of Super Heroes:

MARCH 4: This is a weird one . . . the half-hour special starring the casts of One PieceDragon Ball Z and Toriko. I’ve never watched the last one, but I did read some of the manga. Good stuff.

Not bad. Looks like we'll be sliding into that after original FLCL wraps up.

There seems to be a lot of original content coming out for the Toonami block. We got trailers for two other series . . .  Ninja Kamui . . .

. . . and Lazarus . . .

. . . . and, at long freakin' last, Uzumaki.

My concern is that they'll stop trying to bring in established series from Japan. I know, that's what streaming services are for, but I like seeing that stuff on Toonami. Besides, haven't past original Toonami offerings been hit or miss for the most part?
