The mods could use your help!  There is currently a plan to have a live chat in the episode thread of the season premiere.

Our question is whether that will be enough of do we need a separate thread so west coasters aren't spoiled.

So do you plan to be around to live chat on Thursday?  And which coast are you on?

Thanks!

East Coast and I'm okay with whatever the mods decide on what to do.

Another thought before the season starts - I hope they give a mention to at least one or two of the prior main characters who are no longer there - I want to know where Lupo is now and where Cutter is. We know Rubirosa is a federal prosecutor now as she showed up on SVU in that role, and I assume Van Buren has retired, but I hope we find out about Cutter and Lupo.

Also, I really wish they could find a way to pay tribute to Adam Schiff somehow, since he was such an awesome character and such a big part of the show, I would love if they managed to reference him in some way.

West Coaster here!  I'll watch live on air on NBC because I'm not sure Hulu has it and Peacock seems to be wanting money for live airings on the Roku app.

I don't want spoilers so I'll not participate in a live chat.

Do you think they might write her out, by just showing her tombstone? In her last few episodes, she was trying to recover from cancer. This will make it more kinder and respectful than some of SVU's departure of characters.

I want to hope Van Buren is retired, married to Ernie Hudson and living her best life. I want Jack and his daughter to continue having a happy ending and not something bad to have happen to damage the relationship again.

I wouldn't mind if Bernard has some contact with his kid due to him finding Bernard is his Dad by doing the 23 and me DNA test. 😅

I assumed Lupo went back to being a lawyer again like he was in season 17 finale. 😉 Since Lupo was studying law,  I assume he switched careers. Maybe he and Cutter have a practice together 😅

But Anita was already retiring in the final episode, before they even knew it would be the final episode. Wasn't the last scene her retirement party?

She recovered from her cancer in the 20th series/season finale. Merkerson wasn't going to return had the show been renewed for 2010-2011. In my head, she beat the cancer after all those chemo and radiation treatments. And that phone call from her doctor confirmed it. Hence her "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you," at the end.

No, it was a fund raiser to help pay her medical bills. But I suspect had the show renewed, we'd learn she retired to spend time with her new hubby, Frank.

@Door County Cherry, for the live chat, if you go with one, you could do what other shows, like Arrow and Game of Thrones (also I think,) did. Create a separate live chat thread that stays open while the show airs and lock it when it ends, and the regular episode thread for those of us who dvr and watch to fast forward commercials and the West Coast watchers.

Yes, and My 600 Lb Life episodes here have worked like that.

Oh I know about the different forms it can take which is why I asked the question to determine which one to use based on interest.

I think we're going to stick with the original plan.  The episode thread will open when the show starts if people feel inclined to share a thought while viewing but no big to-do.
