She sent him to Texas to his grandparents, who had him scraping and repainting swimming pool bottoms one summer (with no pay.) I'm also kind of surprised that Pastor Rob is a Baptist. With his, cool, hip style, I'd have figured him for Unitarian or even Presbyterian! ;-) Edited November 13, 2021 by kwnyc Additional thought 2 Link to comment

Probably not connected to a system, but each machine standalone, with, I'd guess, some kind of random number generator, that Sheldon could figure out how to get around. (but I'm not a professional gambler, I just play one on TV). Thanks for the infomration. I doubt this would happen in the series, because Sheldon would have to be in the room and taking apart the device to see how it worked and then trying to tinker with the random number generator software. I can't picture Mee-Maw and Georgie involving Sheldon. 1 Link to comment

Now I'm picturing Meemaw and Georgie spending a night in jail because Sheldon blabbed the wrong thing to the wrong person. Like, maybe Sheldon got caught checking out the machines after hours (was mistaken for a burglar) and spilled the beans on the operation in a very matter of fact way. I'm glad Dr. Sturgis got fired. Didn't he admit last week that it was getting tiresome? Now he can go back to being a scientist. Yeah. I know. IRL it's not that simple. But that's why we have Tee Vee. She was being targeted by both adults and peers for, basically, not being totally ashamed of and negative about sexuality, and asking questions. I thought her crying alone in her room was anything but bratty And her mother not only thought it was a good idea to include her brother in what should have been a private mother-daughter discussion, she then intended to discuss the subject publicly with Missy's entire Sunday School class. 5 Link to comment

It was actually the youth pastor's idea to do that. Mary got involved after he mentioned how it was Missy with the most questions. 1 1 Link to comment
Johannah November 14, 2021 Share November 14, 2021 I don't think any of them are qualified to discuss sex with the kids. I'm appalled any of them thought they were. Maybe individually with their own children (although I doubt that would be more than their own opinions on 'when'), but none were qualified or, in my opionion, knowledgeable enough to teach a class. 6 Link to comment

I do wish the show had him tell Missy he was uncomfortable answering her questions about his personal relationships and would not be answering them AND that he hoped she and all the kids in the class would feel like they to could tell others when they felt uncomfortable with a subject. But this show and his role aren’t like that. I assume that at some point the Asst. Pastor is going to be the "bad" guy on the show. 1 Link to comment

He does have that 70's porn look to him! Spoiler I read that on an upcoming episode we will get to hear grownup Howard talking to grownup Sheldon in the narration. They will explain Sheldon's disdain of engineers. I can't wait! This is the kind of information I want to know!! Edited November 16, 2021 by ChitChat 3 2 Link to comment
UncleChuck November 17, 2021 Share November 17, 2021 Quote I have no doubt that Sheldon has the technical skills to reprogram the machines. I don't think he does have those skills. I remember when he thought he was smart enough to "fix" the refrigerator and only managed to take it completely apart and scattered all over the floor, but he had NO CLUE how to get it back together. He also has no respect for the engineers who actually can build and repair things. Sheldon is a genius with facts and theoretical math and physics, but has no "hands on" talent. ...Unless it has something to do with his trains... 4 Link to comment

John Potts June 21, 2022 Share June 21, 2022 Some great quotes: “You mean S.E.X?” “Who you spelling that for?” “G.O.D!” ...because God is famously unable to spell? “The topic is procreation and she has clearly procreated.” - I’m sure there are few topics that make teenagers more uncomfortable than the thought that their parents have (or are having) sex, even though they are the proof that they did. “I think you’re as normal as I am.” (Dr Sturgis) - Well that's certainly true! On 11/12/2021 at 2:07 AM, ams1001 said: I wonder if this is the beginning of [Dr Sturgis'] path back to the university. That was my thinking, too. Meemaw was totally unreasonable. 5% commission would be fair for getting her business back running even if Georgie wasn't helping out. 1 Link to comment
