I loved Heen in Howl's Moving Castle. What a deadpan little scene stealer he was! I also really dig the character design.

I know little yappy dogs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I did love Walter in To Die For. He was such a cute little powderpuff. Suzanne didn’t deserve him any more than she deserved poor Larry.

I’m so glad the hitman at the end had some standards and didn’t kill him along with Suzanne.

Brutus the Great Dane and the dachshunds in The Ugly Dachshund are so cute!

Still, I'd advise against watching this movie if you're a hardcore doxie fan, because they're painted to be little jerks who like to get others in trouble for their mischief.*

*Unless there's truth to this portrayal? To any dachshund owners out there, feel free to weigh in!

Buster in Toy Story 2. One of the best things about that sequel is that it completely subverted the expectations set up by the end of the original movie when Andy got a puppy for Christmas: Woody and Buzz thought they were screwed because it was going to be Scud Part 2. Instead, it turns out that Buster is a sweet puppy who knows the toys are alive, loves them, and is willing to come to their aid when they need it.

Also give a shout-out to Charlie, Iris’ dog in The Holiday.

 

[Fool to cry]

As bad as I feel about the cat who got fried in Christmas Vacation, it balances out Aunt Edna's dog being dragged to its death in the first movie.

Sadly, it might have been best for the cat. Who's owner wrapped him in a box as a present in the beginning of the movie. The poor cat probably faced death every day living with that woman. Although if I had been there I would have  taken him to the animal shelter or a better home.
