Assuming things will be very similar to how they are in the USA and if they are not that means that your partner has deceived you is very emotionally immature. 

So true.  I started really evaluating how tough my life was when I saw stories of women carrying jugs of water on their heads everyday so their family can survive.  I'm talking about walking with them on their head for 5 miles!  Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself, I try to think about how I have water on tap in my kitchen.  And, I try to envision the woman with the heavy jug of water on her head.  And, she's not even complaining.
