‘Chucky’: Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind & Björgvin Arnarson Set For Syfy Series Reboot

Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak) and Björgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day) are set to star as series regulars and the four teen leads of Syfy’s Chucky, from the movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini. Jennifer Tilly, reprising her role as Tiffany Valentine from the movies, and Devon Sawa (Final Destination) will recur on the project, ordered straight-to-series last year.

The new Chucky incarnation revolves around the character at the center of the horror/slasher Child’s Play film series, the red-haired, freckled-faced doll possessed by the soul of notorious serial killer, Charles Lee Ray. In the television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

The film Child's Play (1988) was followed by several sequels including Child's Play 2 (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), Cult of Chucky (2017) and a reboot, Child's Play (2019). I haven't watched all of these movies, so I am not sure if you need to, to get the references that the TV series will make. If you want to invest the time to do your homework before the TV series is released, here is where you can find the movies.

Don Mancini, who has written all seven movies in the series \is showrunner for the TV Series. Brad Dourif returns to voice the serial killer turned evil doll, a part he's been playing since 1988. The series will also see the return of a number of other familiar faces including Jennifer Tilly, once again starring as Tiffany (and potentially even herself, again); plus Dourif's real-life daughter Fiona Dourif, reprising her part from the sequel movies Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky, and original Child's Play and Child's Play 2 star Alex Vincent returning to the role Andy with actress Christine Elise McCarthy, who took on the part of his foster sister Kyle in Child's Play 2, also returning.

TV Series synopsis: "After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster."

Jennifer Tilly’s character Tiffany Valentine debuted in Bride of Chucky and returned three more times, while Fiona Dourif’s character Nica Pierce made her first appearance in Curse of Chucky and returned for Cult of Chucky. Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon and Zackary Arthur are newcomers to the Child’s Play universe. Arthur’s character Jake Webber is described as “a loner trying to find his place in the world after his mom’s death while never connecting with his dad or his peers.”

I love a good horror series and this is either going to be really fun or really awful or…really both.

Either way I am really in.

Horror/thriller is my favorite genre of late and I watched some of the Child’s Play movies (not all of them).   Bride of Chucky is still my favorite.

I love the idea of Chucky whispering into a loner teenagers ear.  That has a lot of potential.

I raised my eyebrow at the bit of Chucky playing video games with that little girl. Also the "I'm gonna go kill your sister, wanna come?" LOL. Even when he acts "nice" he's still the worst.

Can't wait for Andy and Posessed!Nica to show up too. I loved Cult of Chucky.

Good video, but I’m not thrilled about flashbacks showing Chucky’s childhood. We don’t need any more origin stories, thank you. But as long as it’s just going to confirm him as an irredeemable bastard, I’ll be good.

In the new CHUCKY television series, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town’s deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Yes! We finally see Andy, Nica, Kyle, and Tiffany! And it confirms that Andy and Kyle are hunting down pieces of Chucky’s soul a la Harry Potter. I hope Andy and Kyle don’t die, and that there’s a way to save Nica.

LOL of course Chucky does the “I’m getting too old for this shit.”

I’m ready for some creepy good Halloween fun. This and season 3 of YOU will fill my quota nicely.

With the sexualization of kids coming into the forefront (thanks to the ongoing saga of Brittany Spears),  I was put when Jennifer Tilly described Zachary Arthur's character as "hot" at a recent ComCon. Zachary Arthur is currently 14. Straight, gay, I hate when kids (or kid characters, even if they are played by adults) get defined in words that have more of a sexually meaning, especially by people that are decades older. It is creepy.

It is inappropriate but I’m going to be generous and assume she didn’t mean for it to come off that way.

While I am happy for the remaining cast that Chucky was renewed for a second season, I hope that Don Mancini has a set end game in sight to end Chucky and Tiffany once and for all.

Seriously! They need serious comeuppance and I'm sick of the Torture Poor Nica has Endured. She needs a huge win. Her and Andy need to be there to end Chucky and Tiffany once and for all

Devon Sawa will return from the grave to play new character in Chucky season 2

After dying twice to Chucky is Season 1 as Logan and Lucas Wheeler, Devon Sawa will get a rematch as he plays a new character in Season 2. The article also has a video of Devon Sawa reading an Email from Chucky.

Ha! So Devon was at a fan convention the last weekend of April.  I got to meet him, and he mentioned that he was working on another show, but he wouldn’t say which one.  Cool that it is Chucky! I had asked him if he was the most killed member of the entire Chucky franchise besides Tiffany and Chucky himself.  He said he was getting up there in deaths, so now it’s so obvious to me!  (I added the pic of me with him because it was a very exciting moment for me since he’s my personal horror icon).  - PPS I had also met Fiona Dourif and she is pretty much the exact opposite of Nica in person.

Elaborate, please?

Oh I just feel like Nica is pretty laid back (as far as final girls go) and quiet. Fiona was very talkative and had the most amazing (and loud) laughter. Fiona was just so happy while Nica rarely is! (Part was because she was sitting next to her dad at the booths also, I think.)
