In my not so humble opinion, no screen couple has ever pulled off his n' her G-strings as phenomenally as Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan in Tarzan and His Mate (1934). Hot damn.

Pretty sexy even for back then!

In light of the announcement of a Carrie series (Mike Flanagan is good, so I’m curious), the one thing that is consistently good in all versions of the movie is that Carrie’s pink dress is absolutely beautiful.

All versions of the dress are lovely, but I have a soft spot for the original 1976 gown, because that sleek sheath was a swan among those tacky frilly 70s prom fashions. 

Also, take that, Andy from Pretty in Pink, Carrie makes way better prom dresses than you!

And ITA about the 1976 version of Carrie's dress. I've said it before, I'll say it again: one could absolutely wear it today and receive compliments.  Light pink certainly isn't everyone's favorite color, but I think it's a color that looks good on nearly everyone.

I’d kind of like it if the Mike Flanagan series changes the dress back to red like it originally was in the book. Stephen King described it as made of crushed red velvet with Juliet sleeves and a princess skirt. So…a different look than the movie pink gown, but one that could still look good.

I've never seen the remakes.  I don't like that second one at all (or the shoes!) but I've always liked the original and the third one looks really nice, too.

I’d argue that the second one is very much a homemade style dress and thus wouldn’t stick out in modern fashions, and as for the shoes, let’s remember that Carrie didn’t have a lot of money. I think they’re fine though.

The actress in the second movie (in that picture, anyway) looks like the answer to "What if Marcia Cross and Jennifer Garner had a baby together?".

Cinderella (2021) was absolute trash, but Minnie Driver's ensemble at the ball wasn't! I have to say, she easily outshone Camilla Cabello!

That actress behind her reminds me of Maisie Williams and her facial expression is saying she is about to go all Arya on Minnie's ass ("Should I use her own tiara to kill her or choke her with parts of her own outfit?").

I griped about the awful bonnets in 1940's Pride and Prejudice in the Fashion Don'ts thread, but here's an example of a bonnet done right: Melanie (Olivia de Havilland) in Gone with the Wind: just the right size, frames and flatters her face, cute little lacy detail, and completed with that pretty pink ribbon. A+, Walter Plunkett!!

Ginger Rogers's "Let's Face the Music and Dance" dress from Follow the Fleet has been living rent free in my head lately. It's one of those dresses that shouldn't work, but does. The fur collar is not my thing, but Rogers pulls it off well, and I love the neck to toe sparkles, form-hugging fit, and the bell sleeves (which allegedly smacked Fred Astaire in the face all the time).

Yeah, At Long Last Love (1975) is a legendary bomb, but at least the wardrobe is something to look at, especially Cybill Shepherd (center)'s ensemble here. The feathered hat is too snazzy, and who else is coveting those two-toned pumps?

She briefly wears it again in the TV series, and I can’t understand why her wedding dress in the third movie didn’t have that kind of neckline instead of those damn shoulder pads? It would have made it look so much prettier.

She primarily wore animal skin shifts (and, in one film, a scandalous two piece), but Maureen O'Sullivan's Jane got to sport some cute, "civilized" outfits in the Tarzan series.
