At the risk of sounding mean, the young woman with the blue braces and the afro -- I sat watching her audition trying not to laugh because it was so horrible - and  then they let her through?  I was really confused.  Am I just wrong on this?  (I think she sang Who's Loving You by the Jackson 5).

Franklin singing "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac was very sexy.

The young woman singing "Crazy" by Patsy Cline was a really cool moment.

Hollywood Week begins, the best part of the season.

My DVR is set to record the Idol series, but trust me, it wasn't prepared for the Monday night airings.

That last story was bittersweet. I'm glad that she'll still be in touch with her daughter and her adoptive family, though. 

Certainly wasn't expecting Gilbrato's performance, but he was fun and seems like a sweet guy. Interesting outfit :p. 

I feel bad for all these contestants, because things are going to get halted by the time the live rounds come around, depending on how all the current craziness with this virus plays out.

Weird...Mollie Isaacs, daughter of Gabrielle Carteris ("Andrea Zuckerman" of Beverly Hills 90210) has been hinting she auditioned for American Idol, and confirmed she has a golden ticket just now...but she wasn't on tonight? Aren't the auditions over? (I listened to some of her songs. She's pretty good).

The auditions are over, but they don't show every golden ticket audition.

Amber (the pregnant redhead) was my favorite by far. I have a feeling her baby's arrival will interfere with the Hollywood week timing, unfortunately. 

Please tell me I wasn't the only one who thought Rozzo was a squatty, homely man. She had a good voice, though; I actually prefer 'church' voices to the ubiquitous yodel-y, scoopy pop voices there were so many of last night.

In what world would a hideous sparkly rainbow tank that shows off ALL your upper body hair be a good choice (Gilberto)?

How does Homeless Busker Mom and Daughter afford hair bleaching, wigs, fake eyelashes and fingernails, and costume changes? And they had to leave the island for some safety reason, which they can't talk about, but they CAN appear on national TV and mention it?

Aliana (tall girl with bulldog) looked 30, not 18. I didn't understand her sob story: her mother was a nut who started her own religion(?), then grounded her when she dated somebody who wasn't in the cult. This somehow caused her to attempt suicide, so now she needs a support animal? Good (no, not Whitney-level, Lionel) voice, though.

"Homeless Busker Mom and Daughter" sleep (live?) in a beauty salon owned by a relative, so I'm thinking the "hair bleaching, ..." are free.

Maybe what the pair fled was sexual in nature (molestation, trafficking, etc.) and they felt it was not appropriate to mention on the show.

True.  My sister-in-law's cousin got a golden ticket in Savannah, but wasn't shown.  She has been in Hollywood taping. Her name is Paisley Howell.

Congrats to her :). Hopefully we'll get a glimpse of her as the season continues.

They end up giving out 150-175 golden tickets each season, so we don't see a lot of them. Generally the really good, the spectacularly bad, and some earnest kids who are told to try again later. Funniest things this episode, the first guy who was flailing all over the place and couldn't sing, and the shirtless mullet dude who crashed their s'mores roast.

We will hopefully be spared Katie next year as she should be giving birth when they usually  film.

That is fantastic!   The family must be so excited.   I'll be looking for her in Hollywood.
