Athena5217 October 2, 2019 Share October 2, 2019 Quote Cookie confronts Damon about why he lied to her; Andre is forced to deal with an unforeseen family complication; Becky and Giselle try to get the star power they need from their first Bossy Media artist; Tiana helps Devon find his sound Andre has the worst luck. This storyline was so similar to Rhonda’s I couldn’t get into it. Where was Hakeem? Hiding in Lucious’s wig? 5 1 Link to comment
Kaiju Ballet October 2, 2019 Share October 2, 2019 This episode was…..not good. I ff’d a lot, so maybe I missed this: When did Lucious find out his “rescuer”’s dad was Damon? (Plus I was so distracted by his Predator wig, I missed almost every other thing he was saying) I am SO over the storyline about bedroom youtube girl miraculously able to impress at karaoke. This whole situation relies on characters we know are much fiercer and smarter, suddenly being stupid. IF you can believe that Becky would risk her partnership/Giselle’s trust to make a deal using up all their capital (still can’t), I can’t believe that Giselle’s not doing more than just grousing. She’s been reduced to a foil for Becky ultimately being right, I guess, but rather than a triumphant moment it feels more like a time-filler/waster reason to get the characters on screen. So the baby and Teri are ok? Or is it another hallucination? Nice that Kingsley’s mom seems to have disappeared from the storyline, to be replaced by Kingsley claiming credit for saving Teri and the baby. Ugh, they are both so unnecessary. I’m more interested in them doing something consistent with Andre’s character from earlier seasons – his struggle with God, mental illness, proving himself despite the fact that he’s the not-musical Lyon. Trai Byers is more than up to it. It was also super painful watching the scenes between Andre and Quincy. The script sucked and the actor playing Quincy can’t pull off the unbelievable lines he was asked to deliver. Not that I want to see Hakeem, but wouldn’t he be there at the hospital? Or pretending he's in charge at Empire since he's the only Lyon available? This seemed to have been the most explicit confirmation of and reference to when Andre and Teri got married. Mario’s character/Teyana—am I hatewatching Star again? I know Mario was elevated to a regular, but that whole thing seemed tacked on, so we could check off the box of having a music performance with gyrating dancers and also the box of creating (or fixing) a song. At least Maya didn’t bug. I can’t keep up with the time jumps. I don’t think that’s the only reason the episode felt so disjointed and all over the place, though. It wasn't all bad though. Brava for Cookie getting into Damon’s phone. They do have chemistry, enough to make me worry about what’s happening next. And that baby was really adorbs. Oh, and Porscha! Love whenever she shows up. 2 Link to comment
tennisgurl October 2, 2019 Share October 2, 2019 So did we exchange Hakeem for Luciouses horrible wig? I am sorry, I just cant take any scene with him seriously when he has that stupid ass thing on, it looks like he stuck burnt kalimari on his head. Its not even a good disguise, everyone can obviously tell who he is right away! He is an extremely famous celebrity, people can see that its you dude! Could Andre catch just one single break on this show? I guess I have to be happy that Terri and her baby survived, and he wont have to lose yet another wife and baby, but its always freaking something going wrong for him. Or him killing or trying to kill people, of course. And now he has a freaking ghost stalking him. Maybe ghost Rhonda can show up again and kick his ass all the way back to the hereafter? Also, I am really stretching to see why Quincy could blame his moms death on Andre, especially after he told the doctor to try and save both Terri and the baby, and I got nothing, beyond emotions make people say stupid things. 2 Link to comment

Brava for Cookie getting into Damon’s phone. They do have chemistry, enough to make me worry about what’s happening next. And that baby was really adorbs. Oh, and Porscha! Love whenever she shows up. I actually liked the episode for the most part. Lucious knew either through plotting with Andre or through Thristy that Yana was Damon’s daughter and that essentially she was the way to get to Damon’s money man Uncle Ray, which he did. I laughed my ass off when he opened the safe and say the MP3 player there, hit the note that said “Press” and “Snitch Bitch” started playing. At that point Damon knew he’d been played and that Lucious had not only gotten at him & had the laptop but that he’d also gotten to Damon’s daughter which will be the unforgivable sin among sins as far as Damon is concerned. While getting the laptop and info to clear him ticked him off the fact he’d gotten to his daughter no-no-no, that’s a bridge to far for Damon. I loved that Cookie bitch slapped him back this episode as well by not only telling him to stay in his own lane but when he fell asleep she got his phone and managed to find the email from Conway thanking him for the monthly $100,000 donation to her campaign for governor which will screw over that bitch as well and clear Lucious. Super glad that Teri and baby are both going to survive. The scenes with Quincy were a twitch uncomfortable. I thought he & Andre were pretty tight but I thought the whole situation when things went off kilter in the L&D hallway were somewhat forced and not natural. I’m hoping that this is survivors guilt over having Kingsley’s heart and not a psychotic break by Andre and it will be revealed that he is the one (spurned on by memories of Kingsley being in his head) that actually shoots Lucious. I thought the scenes with Andre and Cookie however were really good. I also hope that they address why Damon has been so fixated on Cookie. Last season it was hinted at during a couple of episodes, I think actually the one where Thristy was picked up by Conway & the feds, that Damon who was watching Cookie from the balcony at Leviticus was asked by the woman he was with what he was looking at. He replied looking at both Lucious & Cookie “my future”. Why? Why would he say that? Then for most of that episode it was Thristy reliving his interactions with Damon and how he got closer to Cookie. So I hope they address that at some point. So overall I liked the episode Link to comment
mtlchick October 3, 2019 Share October 3, 2019 Sadly, this show has gone from "MUST WATCH. IF YOU BOTHER ME, I WILL CUT. YOU!" to "This is Us in on, I'll PVR and get to it whenever I can." Lucious is no fool when it comes to his enemies. He is a damn fool about that mop he has on his head and thinking that's going to fool anyone. I had a feeling once the Jussie situation was taking some weird turns, the producers had to find a new screen partner for Becky as a contingency plan. Gabby and Nicole are a hoot and I love them. I'm going to keep with this show until the end, but it's evident the best days are well behind them. 7 Link to comment

That makes sense, although it was really lucky for Lucious then that Cookie didn't go with him on that plane. I can't imagine Cookie being ok with that plan. But wow, that's serious swagger even for Lucious. "I'm going to get a horrible wig to disguise myself while running from the Feds and get a specific, beautiful rich girl young enough to be my daughter to fall in love with me, while I'm pretending to be a rando who's not Lucious Lyon." I did LOL when Andre stopped his gravedigging to take a call from Lucious. I'll probably picture that the next time I call someone who sounds out of breath when they answer. I was also taken out of it because I'd imagine Andre would have taken the battery out of his phone, or not had it with him in the middle of nowhere burying his victim. 16 hours ago, mtlchick said: I'm going to keep with this show until the end, but it's evident the best days are well behind them. SuzieQ October 4, 2019 Share October 4, 2019 This show gets more ridiculous by the second!! Lucious makes me burst out laughing in every scene when he looks so comical. If it wasn't the final season I think I would have given up on it already. Link to comment

This was my impression as well. The only other thoughts I have on this is I hate how angry they're making Andre at God. I get bad things happen to people which make them turn on God (been there, done that myself), but the conversations Andre is having about God and then Kingsley taking credit for Andre's miracles (yes, I know Kingsley is Andre's hallucination) seems almost blasphemous to me. I wanted to stick with this till the end since I've watched from episode 1, but if they keep up with this certain cringe factor of mine, I'm out. Oh, and ewww at Andre cutting himself attempting to give back his heart (?). I'm too squeamish for all that! 1 Link to comment
