  1. Depending on what happens in their next three matches, we could end up with an all-Canadian semi-final in the women's tournament.
  2. And Andre De Grasse redeems the Canadian men, repeating as bronze medalist in the 100 m. This would be a positive sign for him in the 200 m as well, as that's his better discipline.
  3. Well, that's it for me tonight, good luck to Jennifer Abel -- take us to medal #14, queen!
  4. It's a shame that diving is scheduled where I can't watch it live, but Jennifer Abel has been looking good for a second medal through the first two phases of the competition. After the disappointment in Rio, this would be a great result (particularly if this is her last Olympics).
  5. Well, De Grasse certainly looked great in the heats.
  6. The heats for the 4x100 medleys are happening shortly. The US will be doing a full swap for the women's event. Canada has two of its finalists (Pickrem, our only semi-decent breaststroker, and Mac Neil, who's had a lot of downtime since winning the gold) and two people filling in (Ruck for Masse, Sanchez for Oleksiak).
  7. Canada vs. Brazil quarter final is going to penalties.
  8. There's commentary on the website. I'm not sure I can stay up for Rosie, given how late it is here, but perhaps I'll try.
  9. The medalists' party might end up being Damian Warner and a whole bunch of ladies.
  10. Masse with the touch! (yes, I know it’s meaningless in a semifinal when both knew they were going to move ahead) Ruck through! Yay! After the miserable past year or so, she really needed a final appearance here.

  12. Gee, Andrew dies in the freestyle, who could have guessed? Great effort by Scott.
  13. Top 5 were all faster than the gold medalists' time in 2016.
  14. Alright, here goes everything. Can Penny or Sarah become the 100 m's first repeat medalist in thirteen years?
  15. Liendo is Canada's most promising young male swimmer. It'd be great if he could somehow squeak into the final here as a learning experience.
  16. Champagne bottles popping at Rowing Canada.
  17. Alright, women's eight, time to save Rowing Canada's budget.
  18. CBC playing the Rosie puff piece now. She's arguably our most underappreciated Olympian in recent history, just because her chosen sport isn't one that people care a ton about. Her not being the closing ceremony flagbearer in London when she was the only gold medalist (that we knew of) was ridiculous.
  19. A lot of recent MCU projects have been attempts to retrofit established characters with more of their comics persona/backstory (e.g., Zemo now suddenly being a rich baron). This one seems like a particularly big lift, since there's a chasm between the MCU Hawkeye and the Matt Fraction Hawkeye comics that this is so blatantly drawing from.
  20. China is only the third country to ever win this event, which was first contested in 1996.
  21. Too bad for Canada. Taylor Ruck was definitely missed there. Amazing for China.
  22. I'm glad Canada is putting Summer first in the relay. She's never competed in a relay at a major international championship before, so it's better to let her not worry about the handoff.
