  1. On the other hand, there are plenty of people with invisible disabilities using that stall too, like myself. So you never know why someone is using the stall. It might look like I'm going in there for convenience but the regular toilet is too low.
  2. I agree with this. It was different somehow. I don't think I liked it. Mulder and Scully need to be together. Hated Einstein. Miller can stay, but only because he's gorgeous. Agreed. He does kind of look like Krycek, sort of. I hate Ho Hey. Love me some folk music, just hate that song. Although, I guess it's better than a purple prose-laden Carterlogue, so it had that going for it. I did like the conversation at the end between Mulder and Scully, but there was not enough of that. Mulder's hallucination was way too long. Was it supposed to be funny? I didn't find it funny.
  3. Building a Mystery was very Mulder. I'd forgot all about that song. Beautiful fucked up man, indeed. My friends knew to not even call during when it was on, because I wouldn't answer the phone.
  4. I didn't think that bit about trash at the end was heavy handed either. Obviously Scully has William weighing heavily on her mind, and now she's a raw nerve on top of that with her mother's passing. When you're in that sort of state, everything and anything relates and connects back to what's weighing on you, even if there's really no connection. Like how she kept seeing William's name on her phone. They just finished a case about trash, so it worked for me.
  5. If a story uses Fox and Dana, I'm out. I can't with that. Even the other night, it bugged me to hear it the other night in the show, and if I'm honest, it was weird to hear Scully call herself Dana, even though logically I know she obviously would. I'm weird.
  6. Same, except I'm a year older than you, and I didn't make anything because I'm not crafty. When i got to college, my roommate was also into the show. Sadly, that was the only thing we had in common.
  7. Reading through this thread, I'm reminded of the many hours I spent reading fanfic back in the day. Man, there was some awful stuff. I think one of Paula Graves fics was probably my first too. Hah. I do not remember the Sound of Wind Chimes, and I'm thinking that's a good thing. I was always a fan of post-colonization AU stories for whatever reason. I've never read either of those more recent authors, but now I know what I'm doing later.
  8. So, not only is this is another thought form, it's yet another thought form made out of garbage. Yes, there was the golem in Kaddish, but there was also the trash monster in Arcadia. Wasn't that supposed to be a tulpa too? That said, Band-Aid nose man (who really needed a more terrifying name) was scary as hell. He ripped people to pieces for god sakes. That's hardcore. And one was ripped to pieces over the jaunty strains of "Downtown". Shades of Home, anyone? I thought Gillian played the initial phone call beautifully. I loved the scene when she and Mulder are at her mom's bedside and she asks if there was ever a case where someone got willed back to life, and Mulder was basically like, "I invented that." Killed me. I could still do without the William stuff, but after all this, I hope we eventually do get some resolution on it.
  9. Meetings are the worst. Training meetings even more so. Although one time we had a training on differentiated instruction (I think) and we made the presenter cry. That was sort of fun. Coincidentally, that was the last time we ever had an outside presenter come in on inservice days. Never present a graph to a room full of science teachers if your axes are not labeled. Today's work peeve is IT related. I put a ticket in the other day because my computer wasn't working. I logged off, and the next teacher logged in 5 seconds after me, and nothing happened. There was nothing on the screen. This has happened before and I figured it was the same issue. So I grabbed a student laptop to use, put the ticket in and went about my day using the laptop. The IT guy came today to do something with the laptops and I mentioned the ticket. He's like - oh, the splitter is unplugged for the monitor. So I'm like, "How did I get unplugged in the 5 seconds between my logout and the other teacher's login? I wouldn't have ever thought a plug was loose with the timing of how it happened." I'm not a computer illiterate, but no one was even near the plug. He was such a douchebag about it. Like I was a dumb ass for not seeing that, when it is not my job to diagnose the problem. No one was even near it, and meanwhile, they had recently replaced the monitor, so clearly whoever did that didn't tighten the plug all the way, or it wouldn't have randomly come unplugged. Whatever. So then he wanted the laptop I was using and I logged off and shut the screen and gave it to him because he's standing there waiting for it, and he starts in about how I shouldn't shut the lid it until it turns all the way off because reasons. Ummmm...you were waiting for it. I am in the middle of trying to teach a class. Kindly go fuck yourself, you condescending prick.
  10. That whole open concept idea is a scam so they can spend less money by putting up fewer walls. My kitchen is a huge eat in kitchen, separate from the living and dining room. If I ever move, I suspect I'm going to have to spend money to put walls up unless I move into an older home. I like separate rooms for all the reasons mentioned above, but also because you can then paint all different colors and it doesn't really have to match if it's a separate room. I kind of hate stainless appliances too. When we redid the kitchen we got black, but that's because our oddly sized wall oven only came in black, so we basically had no choice in the matter.
  11. I am familiar with Detective Manners'...colorful phraseology. I have no idea how I missed that immortal line.
  12. Loved the epitaph on Kim Manners' tombstone, "Let's kick it in the ass." How did I miss the reference to Scully being immortal? Where was it? Whoever played the lizard man was excellent. I'm one of those people that didn't love Jose Chung. But I liked this, although not as much as Clyde Bruckman. And again Scully gets a dog at the end, so they have that in common.
  13. That is one of the best things about this state. That, and decent pizza and bagels. I do use a lot of Purell, and am mindful of germs, but it's not so much for my sake as it is other people. My best friend and my mom are both immunocompromised, so I'm more careful on their behalf. Of course, I work in a Petri dish of a school, so it doesn't help much.
  14. I wonder what the ratings will look like when they add in the DVR and streaming numbers. Even without that, those seem like excellent numbers. Hooray for nostalgia. I wouldn't mind 6 new episodes every year or even every couple years. Here's hoping.
  15. I've given up on Scully ever having a desk. Right. Her whole "area" because there's not enough space for two desks unless they push them together and play Battleship. Ugh. Oooh, I missed that entirely. Must've been distracted by the Ford ad immediately preceding that. Thanks!
  16. The school where I work put a giant mountain of snow on top of 1/3 of the available handicap spaces AND the ramp I need to get down the curb, especially when there's ice. Today I hung on to a parked SUV to get down. I do not know what I will do if that SUV is not there. There is no other ramp for the building. The other building nearly half a mile away, yes. But I am sure as hell not parking all the way over there and then walking, just so I can access the curb. That's some bullshit. Tomorrow, I need to figure out who to complain to and raise holy hell, because that is unacceptable, and possibly against ADA requirements. And it's a school. I can't be the only person who relies on that ramp. If they don't move it, it's going to be there for months. It's at least a 6 foot tall mound, in a relatively shady area.
  17. I liked it. The teaser was fantastic with the birds, and the pencil scratching, and then he jams that letter opener in his ear and i actually cringed. I can watch F. Emasculata and eat dinner, so I'm not squeamish in the least, usually. One thing I don't get is, they figured out it was the kid causing it because he was the janitor one floor up when Sanjay was hearing the sound and killing himself. How did Mulder hear the sound in Sanjay's apartment? I liked the fantasy scenes and thought they were well done, but thought their placement in the episode was weird. I would've liked to leave William out of this, but since they went there, now I want to know where he is by the end of the six episodes. I kind of hate how Scully always refers to him as hers rather than ours. Clearly, Mulder is the father, and he's standing right there. Ours. As for their voices, maybe they both had colds or were just raspy from speaking so much since it was the 5th episode filmed and they were probably fried by then? I actually thought Skinner sounded a little raspy too, but that might just be me. Either way it was annoying. Now I need to turn up the brightness AND the volume? The doctor's wife had a very creepy/weird jaw and it took me out of everything she said. Scully worked in that hospital for 7 years and didn't know anything weird was going on? That's odd, considering she's an X-File magnet. I knew from IWTB that it was a creepy hospital. At least this time, Mulder got some proof from the kid's blood vial. Scully still does not have her name on the door of the redone X-Files office. What the hell, show?
  18. Good point. Nothing with her medical career is logical, so I suppose we shouldn't expect the placement of the blood to be logical either. Hah. The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am that she's still working at Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrows. Ugh.
  19. That was my thought as well. If it was a patient's blood she'd want to get it off her neck ASAP (or should I say stat, because she's apparently a surgeon now). The surgical gown should cover that area as well, since that's their whole reason for existence.
  20. I'm still digesting, but overall I really liked it. It was about what I expected from the first episode. Mulder. Scully. Lots of exposition. An opening Carter monologue. 9 years and 2 movies, we know what to expect. Even the relationship stuff made sense to me. It's been a long time since the end of the series, and even since IWTB, so it would make sense that they're not in the same place relationship wise. I love me some Mulder, but dealing with him day in and day out has got to be exhausting, no matter how much they love each other and are meant to be together. I think they are married but separated, not divorced, so we'll see how that all plays out. My favorite scene was Scully drawing blood from Sveta. When Sveta told her she had no idea what it was like to be abducted. Gillian was amazing in that scene. That and the conspiracy scene, with Scully just sitting there like, "Am I really sitting here listening to this bullshit, again?" That saved that scene for me. Once again, the "key to everything" gets blown up/taken away/whatever. Classic. How many people have been the key to everything? Never change, show. Did they really just retcon the entire mythology? I guess that makes more sense than trying to untangle that convoluted mess, even though the mythology only got convoluted to the point of being nonsensical when the super soldiers came in to it. I will have to watch it on demand again before tonight. Overall, I'm just really glad Mulder and Scully are back on my TV, so I'm along for the ride. I am pretty sure I squealed when they started the credits, and I loved that Skinner is included in them.
  21. My peeve today is snow related. I live on the end of a cul de sac. Every single time it snows, the snow plow pushes all the snow from our street right in front of my very long, very hilly driveway. This despite the fact that the opposite side of the court is wide open and could easily take all that snow without blocking us (and the fire hydrant) in with a giant mountain of snow. And it's giant - we had just about 2 feet of damn snow yesterday. So after clearing all the snow off the driveway, which is a job and a half unto itself, we somehow have to move this mountain if we want to get out. Awesome.
  22. I hate people who don't put their lights on in the rain, except now, I'm like Bastet, and my new car has the lights come on automatically, and I always forget. When it was manual, I never forgot to put the lights on. Of course, the wipers are auto too, so that's probably the problem. I don't know why there isn't an auto setting where if the wipers are on the lights come on. That would be lovely. You can leave out pine nuts when making pesto (I am very allergic so I always do) but I would definitely not leave out the cheese. I also call it French toast, or rather making French toast, and I'm also in NJ. I wonder if it's a NJ thing. We are supposed to get around a foot on Saturday, so the news reports showing empty grocery shelves and people buying shovels are out in full force. What I want to know is, what happened to last year's shovel?
  23. Well, it wouldn't be the X-Files without a monotone voiceover to kick things off, now would it? I'm ok with it. It's only a minute, and it gets new people sort of on board with the whole deal quickly so we can move on to the story. Different young Mulder and Samantha don't bother me. There are two that I think of when I think of the characters, but they've been portrayed by so many different actors by now, that it's fine.
  24. My bedroom is also butter yellow with white trim. No gingham curtains though. I want to paint it a seafoamy green color though. I'm tired of the yellow, although it is bright and cheery. They mail you the plates? Wow. I don't think they do that here. I just bought a car a few months ago, and I had to go to the dealership to pick them up. It was sort of annoying because they were supposed to call me when they had them, and they never did. I just randomly decided to pop in one day when I was heading down that way, and lo and behold, they had them. Then why didn't you call? Ugh. At least they put them on for me.
