Tristan, when people show you who they are, believe them the first time.

Siggy is believing her own hype. Just really too much.

S01.E06: Bridge Over Troubled Water
Juneaucat replied to OnceSane's topic in Southern Charm Savannah
Happy with the vocal fry and "like" every other word is wearing on my last nerve. #notamillenial -
Anyone else notice how Serena Joy is taller than Fred in flashbacks? I guess she allowed herself to wear higher heels. In present day, she's the same height with heels or shorter without, so she looks up at him. I guess it's hard to feel superior over someone who physically looks down on you. Just thought it was an interesting subtle detail. As heart wrenching as this show is, it's acted and produced superbly.

There were 7(!!!) sent home this week. That has to be a record for this late in the competition. I didn't think the producers would allow that because it affects how many weeks they show it. Anyone if it's typical to only be left with 6 at this point?

Really liking this show and I was liking Carl. But he majorly turned me off last night with his whole wanting a girl who isn't driven and smart. That that type of girl is too much for him. A secure man can handle an intelligent woman. I get that he can be into whoever he wants, but his reasoning just really ruined my impression of him.

The entire Chad/Lace thing made me so uncomfortable. I kept thinking "this is how a date rape happens." Just me thinking that?

S11.E04: Frozen Assets
Juneaucat replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
When Vicki said in a TH that she feels like she's failing as a mother, I yelled at the tv "because you are!" Briana was clearly spent physically and emotionally and needed sleep, not taking care of two toddlers. Vicki, you don't always have to go to work. I'm a workaholic but when my kids are sick, work can wait. -
I don't understand why I watch this dreck, yet here we are. It's all so fake. No one is arranged and they're acting about everything. I "watched" last week's episode by playing on my phone and just listening. The editors cut together almost every sentence out of their mouths. So this shit show would even be worse, if that's possible.

S07.E01: Old Friends, New Faces
Juneaucat replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
I'll give the first episode a shot but that's it. This is my least favorite housewives show and I'm unabashedly Bravo's bitch. But I can't take the nonstop fighting over family stuff and who slighted who. All the series have that element but these people are actually related. And they're willing to ruin their family relationships to whore themselves out for fame and money. Also Jac's schtick is so tired. I just saw a preview and it's the same crap for the last few years it was on. If you hate Tre so much, stop talking to her and get off any shows that feature her. Caroline is beyond grating but she could walk away. I get that she has her own crappy show but it doesn't have the draw (and therefore the money and security a housewives show has). Jac can't stand to lose the fame. -
I'm sobbing and although I'm very tender hearted, I don't usually feel this devastated when a character on a show dies (except Edith on Archie Bunker. I cried hard as a kid because I was too young to realize only her character died, not the person.) I was unspoiled so this was beyond unexpected and horrible. And the PTV recap was sh$t. I'm a longtime TWOPper and loved finding PTV two years ago. I listen to all the podcasts and usually love the recaps. But this one was horrible. It was like it was too hard to do justice to such an intense, dramatic episode that the writer chickened out. Find someone else in that case because as dumb as it sounds to say this about a tv show, reading things like the recaps and discussions help a person process difficult situations.

Thanks. I had forgotten about that. I cannot keep track all of the little current stories and back stories.

These may be dumb questions but I need answers. What were those keys to that the guards found related to Red? And was he bluffing with the 5 cut up bodies in the freezer or was that true?

Season 8 Unseen Footage
Juneaucat replied to eurekagirl mOo's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
This was delicious, especially after watching a bunch of the season 8 episodes that they just aired. I go back and forth in terms of liking Heather, but that jumping on the producers when Alexis was being kicked out to get on her friends spoke volumes to me. She is cold and calculating.- 118 replies

Thanks John Potts and profreader! That was bugging me.

What was the answer that was about jazz and Masters of Sex? I relistened several times but it just sounded like Sarah said Masters of Sex, which isn't a letter off the original. What am I missing?

Every time I see Josh, I think of Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry. Really similar look.

I'm back after falling down the rabbit hole known as the interwebs. I watched all of DeAHna's season, then various youtube clips of her and Jesse, including THE forlorn Jesse video. Got me sufficiently intrigued about Jason Mesnick, who I knew virtually nothing about. Yes, it is possible. Who knew? Watched the entire season where he was the bachelor. Fascinating!! Then read so many stories about him, Molly, Melissa, the producers, on and on. I'm waiting for Melissa's book to come from Amazon. Have listened to several of Jason & Molly's podcasts. Can you say obsessed? :) Anyway, those two seasons were infinitely better than Juan Pablo's and Andi's. The last season I watched of any of it before this year was Jillian's. Ha, so I won't need to follow up watching that. I found those seasons to be slightly more real and full of crazy. The women on Jason's seasons were just batshit. But I loved Molly and never hated Jason the way I guess everyone else did. Granted, I know that Melissa is married with a baby and Jason and Molly are too. I'm sure that colors things. But still, Melissa was no saint, even though she painted herself to be. I find her kind of loony. Honestly, I was surprised he even picked her in the first place, kind of like DeAHna (emphasis mine) and Jesse. And speaking of Deanna, just yuck. I found her so full of herself. Wish I had TWOP right now to go back and read all of the boards when those seasons were on. But I'm a big sucker and want all of these romances to work. It's fascinating to read all the behind the scenes stuff and learn how little time they get with each other, that the relationship starts when everything is over. In some ways, it's positively amazing any of them actually make it to the altar.

Anyone have a link to the article where Andi talked about how many she would have given her number to IRL?
-
Deanna's season is on youtube in its totality. Sweet! I'll work my way through that and watch Jason's, which is on Amazon Prime.

Awesome! Thanks!

Ankai, all good points. Hopefully we'll see some progress in some of those characters like Piper has had. Piper grates for sure but she has realized some things about herself, good and bad. I don't think they're all going to come around (and it would be boring and saccharine if they did), but it would be nice to see moments like Morello had with Nicky when she realized she was doing crazy things. It's a first step. I just read millenium's post. I was going off the original post in this thread that we're talking after watching them all. But if we need to spoiler, mods, please say so.

Ankai, that is so true. The rehabilitation piece is so lacking. And at that prison, which is similar to the real Danbury prison, the living conditions are so poor that that provides an additional distraction. That whole thing in the first episode with "don't eat the pudding since they scrape the mold off it first" actually happened in real life. That's not even remotely acceptable. Those parts of the prison system are just unacceptable and need to change. I guess my main complaint is that I wish Jenji was more even-handed with her depiction of things. We're meant to really care about nearly all the inmates (and I do) and in so doing, we forget that they're criminals. It reminds me of the Sopranos. I loved Tony but he was the bad guy. Every once in a while, Piper or someone will allude to the fact that they are criminals. It's not like Jenji never does that. I guess the whole Vee thing is what's bothering me too. It seemed heavy handed that Vee is for villain. We could easily hate her because she hurt people and meant to. But the implication is that the others made mistakes out of necessity, which isn't true. They often made their choices because they were the easier way out. Not every transgender person has to steal credit cards to get the necessary surgery. And not every abused woman has to defraud the government to escape. They made those choices because the alternative was harder. Part of my perspective is that I'm a professor at a community college where I see people every day who leave terrible life circumstances to come to school to improve their lives. It's incredibly difficult but they do it. They could sell drugs on the corner like their family members, but they choose not to. They are choosing a path that's not instantly gratifying and will be harder before it's easier. But ultimately, they can get out of a cycle that tears apart others (family, friends, etc.)

Hi all. I'm coming back to my Bachelor/Bachelorette addiction after many, many years away. I'm thinking of watching some full seasons on Amazon Prime (God forbid Netflix could have anything good to stream outside of OITNB). Please help me pick. In your opinion, what are the best seasons of the bachelor and the bachelorette? Edited to add: I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask this question. If not, can someone point me in the direction of a more appropriate place?
-
I guess that's my point. I do see the "little" drug activities a big deal because they contribute the larger drug problems. Piper didn't realize (in the book) until far into her sentence that her seemingly small trafficking (never saw or touched drugs, just moved some money) helped contribute to destroying lives of people like her friend who was addicted to heroin. She saw that she was a cog in that giant machine of crime and addiction. One little mule makes a difference, so to speak. And same with the "minor" credit card fraud that puts people like Sophia and Morello in prison (I don't think Morello was in federal prison for her stalking, although she should be). That fraud affects all of us who pay our bills. I don't think most of them are so far gone with their actions that they can't become contributing members of society. But as long as they have that, "I didn't really do anything wrong. I just got caught" attitude, they won't. Are they repentant or not? I would say many aren't. They feel they were wronged, not that they genuinely did something wrong themselves.
