And don't forget Captain Jack and Mickey with Nine and Ten, respectively. How much money do you think the BBC owes DC Comics for going nuts on the Superman homages? ETA: "You ate? The gem?!? [pause] That's on you. If you live forever and turn amoral, it's not my fault. Not this time."

I know, less than an hour of Christmas left, but I might as well post some old stuff. (Heroes) (the webcomic) (Doctor Who; "The Snowmen") (Black Dynamite; it was the Christmas episode. With alien bitches, Black Santa, and O.J. Simpson) (Axe Cop)

This was okay. Like Moffat wrote a story about the Doctor and Whashisface facing off against aliens who never heard of pockets and like storing weapons in their heads. Then he had to expand it for Christmas, and figured, "Screw it, I'mma do a Superman homage story. And I'll use the name of Spider-Man's annoying dome-headed B-list villain." Seriously, what is the sidekick's name? I know he was in the last Christmas special, but I'm drawing a blank. And he's going to be an official companion alongside Bill? By the way, I'm hoping the Doctor pronounces it like Blackadder says "Bob." At least we had a story in America with a happy ending. I'm surprised the Doctor ever comes to New York, especially after what happened to Amy & Rory. And the idea of the aliens filling world leaders' heads with their brains . . . promise? ETA: I couldn't resist . . . got this sketch of The Ghost last month. Asymmetrical letter aside, he had a good look.

Kept forgetting that the story was also in color/colour. Very, very jarring. Seriously, though, where did the Doctor keep getting that hat?

Merry Christmas! In light of the season . . . has there been anybody that started off as a jerk, only to become more than bearable? Other than CT, I mean. Darrell might be the closest . . . couldn't stand him in The Gauntlet and The Inferno, but I was good with him winning four Challenges. Then came the fight with Brad, and his early exit from Free Agents II. He should have called it a career after winning with Aviv on Free Agents.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Does Poco come from somewhere? And like we discussed in the episodes thread, Tonpetty's students are named after Dire Straits. While the American adaptations of future editions had material changed to avoid lawsuits, I'm guessing it was okay to start as long as the characters didn't resemble their namesakes. That means no tinted shades and Mad Hatter homage for Tonpetty. Or headbands for Dire & Strazio. ETA: Have to get this out of my system: "You would follow the example of Dio? Even after he murdered Dire?!?" "Well, I-" "HEY! Don't come around here no more!!!" -
Man, Lesterson cracked so hard. His decline has to be in the top tier of characters in the show's history, right? At least Ben doesn't seem to need more proof that the Doctor is the Doctor.

Looks like we'll be leaving Lumiose City soon. Last week, the assembled heroes saved the day, rescued Chespie, and they may have killed Lysandre. I know, its a kids show, but we didn't see him taking the perp walk, so there's a chance he's dead. Also, Zygarde/Squishy said goodbye to Bonnie. And Ramos didn't mutter "whippersnapper" once. This Week: Cleaning up! Partying! Clemont can't recover Clembot's memories, but the substitute gym leader robot holds his (its?) own against a trainer eager for a rematch. Meanwhile, Team Rocket report to Giovanni, who seems pleased with their progress. And then they ruin things by kidnapping Pikachu. Natch, this doesn't work out, as Ash and Alain blow them up.

Anybody needing a cute critter fix . . . Animal Planet is running a Too Cute marathon through 9 p.m.

Bad News/Worse News. Bad news: Funny115 goes with Dan's first few days. Worse news: Apparently, Mario is going to be writing about that oaf a lot.

It's on now . . . soon. In Japan. But we'll get it in the States soon.

Good words from Keith. We're going to miss him when he goes, aren't we? For my part, I'm not typing the name, because I am a petulant child. Much like that man, sad to say. And I support hanging his portrait upside-down, mainly because I can't light anything on fire. I don't smoke and I don't go camping. Nothing say "sad" like me putting candles in my mother's birthday cake, then having her light those because I can't work a lighter.

What's not to love? The Doctor in Paris! Leela Ward's second story as Romana! An alien madman! A tough-as-nails dummy! Leonardo da Vinci! John Cleese! A script so good, K9 had to hang back in the TARDIS! ETA: Lalla Ward. Totally what I meant. If you got a mental image of Leela gussied up like Romana (either one)? You're welcome.

Got a distressing e-mail. Apparently, 2016 is still having its way with us. Not really political, but still depressing.

Dogs wanting nothing to do with a little turtle: The boys torture their "aunt" Paddington is used to this by now The girls pose (notice only Tilly looks remotely happy) And speaking of spiders . . . here's something for Harry Potter fans.

From CBR: The 15 Best [AS} Live-Action TV Shows. I confess that I haven't seen all of them, but it's like the writer(s) of these lists wants to piss me off. I tried to add this to my last comment, but I couldn't get in. Sorry for the double-post, even though they're 36 hours apart.

Jeez. What the fuck is with that guy?!? And I was wondering what the role of the Secret Service would be in my "fantasy."

Just caught the tail end of Scrooge with Alastair Sim. It's wonderful to see Ebenezer repent his miser ways, becoming more open with his wallet and his heart, all in the span of one night. Sure, he scared the hell out of his maid, but he was a changed man. But you know the sucky part? That shit ain't gonna happen in a certain tall building in New York this year. Or ever. ETA: "And you are?" "Jacob Marley." "You're not getting in. Not with those chains." "Look, I'm a ghost, and-" "And where are your dreadlocks?" "Motherf- . .. every year with this. That's Bob Marley. I came first! And I got three ghosts behind me!" "Did they make appointments this late at night?" "No, but-" "Right. Don't make me call security."

"So. You didn't watch the fight?" "No, sir." "Really, Gon?" "I made a promise, and I stick with those." "You only found out about the result when Killua told you about it?" "I shut off the TV an hour before. I concentrated on my harmon . . ." "Nen." "Nen. Right. Anyway, I was trying to meditate, and I heard shouting from the other rooms. I tuned that out . . . and then I heard, 'Oh my Gawd!! He totally Tiened that fucker!!!' So I grabbed a heavy book and beat myself into unconsciousness." "Good boy."

I pose a "What If" from my blog. Feel free to leave me a comment there or on FB. It occurred to me while I was shopping, and I had to share it with the few dozen people who would care.

The big question: What were those people doing on a JetBlue flight? Is that like slumming for them? "No meals, but they do provide blue potato chips. Our people never bring those home to us!"

Caught Part Five last night. In the Hartnell years, were the Daleks ever funny? "I am your servant" is a great basis for a drinking game. And then you had the Dalek going off on a power rant to humans, realizing what it was saying, and going subdued with "useful." "The Daleks are reproducing! But how?!?" "My dear man, have you heard of a singer named Barry White?"

Funny, sad, or both?

Big Finish has put out several stories on audio with that premise. As for the books . . . check your library for graphic novels. Or start with the miniseries. So far, Titan has done those for Nine, Eight and Four, and the one with Three going on now is a fun read. ETA: Titan has also reprinted DW stuff from when IDW had the license. One fun story is Prisoners Of Time, where the Doctor forgets about his past lives, and sifts through a museum devoted to him to jog his memory. I have one issue signed by the artist, writer, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.
