  1. so I've obsessively watched and read so many things about Squid Game after completing it, but have not seen a single message of the cop/frontman's exchange and why cop said "you know" when frontman asked why he couldn't come with him. Did I miss something that I was supposed to know? Or is it just the obvious "you know I can't let you not kill me when I now know you've killed hundreds of other people."
  2. This episode was so dark and so soft that I felt like I didn't actually SEE most of it. I had the volume up so loud that the commercials were BLARING. That said- I liked Negan leaving Maggie to die, and I'm sad that she probably didnt. I also kind of love Princess, even though she's annoying as fuck and batshit crazy (the actress seems like she may be a little unhinged herself, from what I saw on talking dead). But observing the intricacies of all the relationships was very HER and turned out to be very useful as well.
  3. sadly, those kinds of cuts are from what we call "non-suicidal self injury." People do this as an unhealthy means of dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, etc. It's sad and makes me wonder what's up. On the other hand, I could definitely be wrong, as there are other things that can cause scarring. Heck, I burn myself all the time from cooking, and have some big long scars on my arms. Hers just fit the pattern, and her emotional vs closed off vs "I've been hurt before by relationships" behaviors fit the profile of someone who cuts as a means of managing their emotions :(
  4. now i'm going to have to watch again, but I paused and stared at my bigscreen for a while. I thought it was Will with the cuts at first. But the scene is her face on left, his hand/wrist, her arm (her hand and fingernails above), then his face. It's clearly the arm next to his face (her arm) that has light horizontal lines against darker skin, which is how scars from cutting often look on non-white people.
  5. Korey and Olivia's chats with EACH OTHER are really awkward! My husband thinks they're just awkward people, but actually into each other. I just can't decide. I like Korey, but find Olivia bugs the shit out of me. Her interest in men seems to be random and fleeting. She would have happily gone with Andre had Korey not picked her first. She pretty much said as much prior to the recoupling.
  6. Oh no! In the opening sequence to tonight's show, during the opening song, they show kyra and will in bed, with their hands up by their faces. Kyra clearly has multiple healed horizontal scars on her wrist/arm. Now I'm sad for her :(
  7. this cracks me up, because they actually both live in LA! I think they actually live closest to each other of any of the couples, and are also the closest to each other of the entire cast. But, having lived in NYC for 5 years, I also know that depending on traffic, public transportation, and ease of access, sometimes even living in the same city feels like "long distance!"
  8. I totally understand why they were dumped, but man, i loved Elly so much! Her doing the cat yoga with Charlie was hysterical, especially since everyone pretty much said it wasnt that out there for her. I wish they could have done some rearranging without dumping. Trina and K-ci seemed to have some chemistry with the whole smoothy thing, and andre and elly seemed to have a similar lightness and silliness to each other.
  9. For anyone interested, i found this obituary for Josh's sister. No cause of death listed yet, other than a "sudden illness." She sounds like she was a lovely person. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/ctpost/name/lindsey-goldstein-obituary?pid=199711594
  10. Is anyone else finding it incredibly rude that the villa population cannot seem to be bothered to learn how to say Alana's name correctly? She literally said during her date with Jeremy, "It's Alana, like Alanta without the T." It kills me hearing her name said incorrectly over and over, by both the men and women alike!
  11. I liked Isaiah, but I totally understand why Cash chose Korey. I think the "problem" with Isaiah is that he was actually honest, which people don't always understand. For example, the "same thing he said to 3 girls" was along the lines of "I really like you, and I've been thinking about you." He may have even said "the most" or something, but keep in mind that this may be true if he meets one girl, then another, then another. It was true for each one, but he's not going back to girl one to say, "I still really like you, but now I'm thinking about someone else MORE." Same as when he first coupled with Cash and told the guys, "if I'm with her, then I'm giving her my attention" (paraphrased), only to follow it with saying "well, if you're pursuing someone else, then that changes how much I invest into us." To me, he's not being a player, he's saying truths. But people don't want honest, they want praise and "loyalty." As we can see with Shannon and Josh, loyalty makes good TV, but bad relationships. I'd rather have Isaiah be honest to me, than to be Josh, pretending to not be attracted to anyone else ever so he doesn't face the wrath of Shannon, while Shannon runs around telling every new guy that comes in how immature all the guys are and that said new guy is her type and better than Josh, etc...
  12. I have really enjoyed this season, especially with June in Canada. She's an imbecile for taunting Serena however. Perhaps it hasn't fully dawned on her that if Fred was able to impregnate Serena, then June's baby may not actually be Nick's. If Fred is the father, he now has some claim over the child, which is the LAST thing June would want. Had she kept her mouth shut, most likely, Fred and Serena would have focused on only Serena's pregnancy, and cut their losses with June.
  13. i'm so glad that friends addressing Zoey's selfish, judgemental behaviors is a theme, and not in a "but it's charming" way (for example, like in House, where it was FUN to see him be an ass). Zoey is a pretty, rich, charming girl, so it makes sense that she attracts friends like flies to honey, but thoughtful college kids learn what they really want out of friendships and relationships, and she deserves to be called out. It's unfortunate that she seems so unable to LEARN from being repeatedly called out though. Someone up thread mentioned that Aaron could defer loans while in grad school. That's part of the preying upon students that loan companies do! I started with a $175k loan for school, and was lured into "just defer it" during my post-grad years, only to be SHOCKED when the loan was up to about $250K when I had to start repaying it. They leave out how much interest will accumulate by deferring. If he's working for the university, he should see if he can also get university housing, and put as much as he is able to towards paying his loans- at least towards interest- as early as possible so it doesn't creep up on him. I'm at a point where i owe as much on my loans as I owe on my house, and it will take about the same amount of time to pay them both off. it really sucks.
  14. so wow, I really dislike adult Kate. Watching her list off to Toby what foods their baby can eat, and repeatedly questioning whether or not she should take him was like she was talking to a babysitter, not the FATHER of the child. Maybe this is the real reason they haven't bonded. Toby is completely reasonable in having the fears and sadness he has about his son's disability, but Kate takes over so completely, even in the face of his grief, that she doesn't even allow him to BE with their child. I saw last episode's retreat without Toby as being more about him not being able to handle HER than not being able to handle baby Jack's blindness yet. I've actually enjoyed the teen Kate/Marc storyline. He's abusive, but in that way that people honestly don't always notice at first. He has a "hot temper," but he keeps apologizing. He lashes out when he's angry, but then is also very open with how much he loves her. From the outside, we all see how bad it is, but when you're in it, the good can still feel better than the bad, and especially when you're already recovering from trauma, the good can feel SO good. It was very telling also that Kate said "he's the first guy that's ever liked me" as part of why he was so important. We actually know this isn't true- there was that one flashback episode of her at the pool, where the girls tricked her into meeting the wrong boy for a kiss, but the BOY actually knew/wanted to meet her for a kiss, and told her so! I also know that Jack was Saint Jack, but didn't he have some outbursts that we saw during his active alcoholism days? Living with that in your youth can definitely make you more prone to accept emotionally abusive behaviors as an adult, because you're able to separate their bad behaviors from their feelings of love towards you. So everything teen Kate was believable and sympathetic to me. Everything adult Kate to me comes off as entitled, whining, shrew. Also, I didn't know I would, but I kind of LIKE Madison and Kevin together 🙂
  15. I am very grateful that I had read the last episodes's posts and had someone mention the alternating timelines, because I did NOT pick up on it myself, and have also had a very hard time keeping track of names/characters other than Geralt, Yennifer, and Ciri. When I saw the bloody queen Calanthe this episode, I had my husband pause the show to confirm if that was the same woman as Ciri's Grandmother, and told him what I had read about the timelines. then HE had an a-ha moment, and the whole episode made so much more sense with the knowledge that we were seeing different time lines within the same show! I don't know if we would have figured it out as quickly without these boards! Also, yay to "Law of Surprise!" What a fun concept! it's like secret santa, but with your life!
  16. OMG, the note to Snake Lincoln saying "Ssssss" made me lose it. This was one of my favorite episodes of all time due to all the snake absurdity. Snake Jazz is my JAM!
  17. Has Jessica always been obsessed with Christmas? I don't remember it. I remembered her creepy Chinese "Santa" costume from a while back, but I thought it was in part a jab at Xmas, and not her actually liking the holiday. Please correct me if I'm remembering wrong!
  18. can someone tell me what happened in the flashback scene with Kate and her boyfriend? I don't know what I was doing, but all I remember is them leaving, and Kevin and Randall commenting "what does she see in him?" What actually happened in that scene?
  19. I liked Kate's boyfriend, so I'm wondering where they're going. My guess is either abuse or drugs, or both. Abuse would explain the weight issues a lot more- something for him to pick on her for, a way for her to bury her shame, a way for her subconsciously feel less attractive so she has an excuse not to date later. I struggled with over-eating for years, and was single for many years, and it was always easy to say to myself, "well, if I were thinner, dating would be easier." I always speculated that that was part of why i repeatedly failed to lose weight- what would it mean if I were thinner and people STILL weren't interested? An abusive relationship could DEFINITELY lead to Kate developing that mentality, especially since weight management has always been tough for her. Speaking of which, adult Kate looks heavier than she's ever been. Not sure if they're trying to make her appear more comfortable with herself by dressing in ways that almost flaunt her size, or if they're really emphasizing it to build up the resentment towards Toby for losing weight.
  20. I totally did NOT get the ending with Jack/Diane and her nightmares, until I saw the end text, "in honor of..." Had to Google, but it looks like one of the producers had two children die together in a carcrash by a drunk driver. My only guess is that the end scene with Jack/diane was about them? It REALLY didn't fit in with any of the rest of the episode, and was a very weird place to end though. I suppose it was nice for the writers to put a memorium of some sort into the show though.
  21. the actress playing the mom is GORGEOUS, but looks nothing like her Black-ish older counterpart. The older version is multiple shades lighter than the younger version. I'm not aware of people "fading" with age without having full-body vitiligo!
  22. I felt like even though Dany questioned Jon's sources for the information about his lineage, that she also quickly accepted it, as it made her brother back into the person she knew/believed him to be- kind, loving, peaceful, a hopeless romantic- rather than a kidnapping rapist. So then she was left with "what does this mean now?" Just earlier this episode she had told Sansa that ALL she has focused on for the past several years was getting that throne, and now Sansa's brother is telling her something that to her means she can't have it! Ideally, if Jon is fine with the incest part, I think the best thing for them to do (after hopefully surviving the Night King) would be to marry, so they can BOTH have the iron throne. He'll be entitled to it by birth, and she'll be entitled to it by worth (as the show wants us to believe. as would Jon also, really, but we know he doesn't really want it).
  23. I wondered if Dre meant cut-off entirely, or just cut-off from Room and Board? I can see the folks continuing to pay for her education, but not for her partying lifestyle, especially since that's what appears to be interfering with her education. And he's not entirely wrong. I guess there's a reason why many schools don't allow kids to live off-campus until senior year unless they're living with their families! Although, I think this was some swanky on-campus apartment or something, wasn't it?
  24. I do not get the love for Slavic or for Jensin. Slavic has zero personality and his dancing bores me to tears. In every genre including his own. You can barely tell he's attractive because his hair covers most of his face too, and I feel like a grandma saying that out loud. Jensen on the other hand has tons of personality, but her entire personality is "look at me! aren't I cute? Don't you want to believe you can sleep with me?" Everything she does looks pageant-y to me and slightly plastic and artificial, and I just can't stand to look at her. She smiles at all times and it's annoying. I was super glad they had 3 girls go to the finale, only because I couldn't stand the thought of her beating one of the other 2 girls that were left. the idea of Slavic winning over the other two boys was a travesty also. I still don't know how the other boys ended up bottom 2, but perhaps they didn't. Maybe they were bottom 2 boys, but not bottom 2 of the final 6, and an executive decision was made to keep all 3 girls for dramatic reasons, or to prevent one from winning, or even to prevent Slavic from winning. Because there is no way he should win over any of the 3 girls that are there, even Jensen.
  25. I HATE that June didn't let herself get rescued for "reasons," but at least with Emily escaping, she now has plausibility that Crazy Emily killed Lydia and stole her friend's baby before running away, and June somehow had nothing to do with it. June had better kill the fuck out of Fred when she goes back to the Waterford house though, otherwise, what the fuck is the point of her not-escape from the house? Serena is going to be wicked pissed at "her" baby not being with any of its mothers now though isn't she? Just hopefully not pissed enough to send someone after Emily to get her back. I think I'm ready for Season 3 to be the end of Gilead and this Tale though. There's only so much of Offred the Martyred I think we can handle.
