  1. N is for No survivors in the villages that Regina and Cora massacred (hat tip: Plankton)
  2. U is for unconscious, which he was for the duration of the 28 year curse.
  3. Without the big black leather coat, Hook's outfit looks a lot more Dread Pirate Roberts. The only way I would want to see August again is if Emma is punching him in the face. I can't think of a single reason why they would need him for a Frozen flashback, so I hope this turns out to not be true.
  4. Right, but she may have been going to the tavern because that's where she could meet strangers from out of town. That could support Shanna Marie's theory that she did not have close friends amongst their neighbors.
  5. Shanna - I see your point about Rumple leaving the Jolly Roger without putting up a fight for his wife being an example of his , but in his defense I would point out that he was one man against a pirate captain and his whole crew. He surely believed that putting up a fight would have ended with his death, leaving Milah in the same situation he believed her to be in before fighting, and leaving Bae alone without any parent to care or provide for him. That being said, what I do blame Rumple for is his refusal to acknowledge Milah's obvious depression and unhappiness and taking her up on her proposal for a compromise by moving somewhere else and starting over. To use a modern-world example, it would be like an unhappy wife asking her husband to go to counseling and him refusing to go yet expecting the wife to continue as they had been. Milah was wrong for faking her death and not being honest that she was leaving him because she couldn't keep living the way they were, but I can understand that she probably feared he would find a way to stop her if she did. She probably also wanted to avoid having to say goodbye to Bae because it would have made it too difficult for her to leave, and she was miserable and depressed and just wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP. I'm not saying she was right, I'm saying I think I understand how she was feeling at the time. After writing the last paragraph, I realized that Rumple killed Milah at the end of this episode when his refusal to try to help her through her depression and unhappiness (and I see no evidence of him trying to help her, I saw him doing his best to ignore the situation and pretend everything was fine) led directly to her running off and leaving him and Bae in the first place. Wow, I'm hating Rumple even more now than I did before.
  6. Yet she claims that "that election was a sham". Yeah, because she didn't control the results.
  7. Yeah, I've noticed that before. You can tell that Colin was "the skinny kid" growing up from his build. That may explain some of his shyness in real life. Guys can be really self conscious about being skinny, especially in their teens.
  8. Sheesh, if Robbie WERE in the Season Premiere I'd be starting to wonder why I hadn't be cast in it, and I'm not an actress. I'd be starting to feel like I was the only person in the world NOT in episode 4 x01
  9. Stealinghome - you make a lot of good points regarding Hook and rape jokes and their relationship to rape culture. I don't have a problem with people not liking some or even many of the comments that Hook has made during his two seasons on the show. I do have a problem with people coming to San Diego Comic Con with a petition signed by victims of rape or possibly domestic abuse and making an explicit plea for A & E to cease and desist with the Emma/Hook romance storyline that they have been writing and building up, without making any mention of the other problematic relationships in the show. If I were a rape victim, I'd be a lot more bothered by seeing Regina crush Graham's heart than hearing the "if I jab you with my sword you'll feel it" line. If I were a victim of domestic abuse, I probably would have been unable to continue watching the show after watching Rumple kill his ex-wife for having left him and hurting him with the words "because I never loved you," and if I had managed to continue watching I'd be yelling at Belle to run as fast as she can every time she had a scene with him. I would have much less problem with this whole petition/protest thing if they were going to bring up all these questionable moments - ones involving Hook included - rather than exclusively focusing on the writing for his character and the Emma/Hook relationship alone.
  10. I know a lot of people point to Hook's violence towards Belle during season two as an example of his character promoting "rape culture" and violence towards women. Yes, on the surface we see a man committing an act of violence towards a petite, defenseless woman (although she did manage to give him a good clink on the head on his ship). The thing is, I do not see the violence as being gender based. Hook knocking Belle out and attempting to kill her, and then shooting her and causing her to lose her memory, were not based on a desire by Hook to exercise power over her (which is what rape really is), in Hook's mind he was hurting the ally/girlfriend of his arch-enemy. The violence was not sexual in nature, it was no different for him than killing the guard outside Belle's cell. I do not view it as a gender-based crime. Regina's treatment of Graham, on the other hand, does warrant scrutiny as promoting rape-culture as she had a sexual relationship with Graham and sexual jealousy was clearly part of her motivation for killing him. Likewise, since Rumple had had a sexual relationship with Milah at one time, that played a role in that act of violence, as well. Hook committed violence against Belle, and I don't condone that and I think Hook was wrong for doing what he did, but I do not consider it an act of sexual violence simply because he's male and she's female. I put it on the same level as Regina trying to kill Snow multiple times. Shitty, yes, but not rape. Shanna Marie - I think your post has given me an excuse to rewatch "Tallahassee" again. Thank you :-)
  11. What I find ironic is, based on a lot of what I've read online, the vast majority of the fans who hate the Captain Swan pairing are at the same time big fans of the Rumbelle ship. In my opinion, if any character on this show should be fearful of becoming a victim of violence at the hands of her significant other, it's Belle. Rumple has proven himself capable of domestic violence. But let's focus on Hook's sexual innuendo and playful flirting (talk) rather than Rumple tearing Milah's heart out and crushing it in his hand for hurting his manly pride (action).
  12. I really hope Colin isn't going to SDCC after hearing about these planned protests. Who knows what these looneys might do to him if they were to see him in person. He hasn't said anything about going so far, but he's been quiet on Twitter for the past week or so. It's a shame, because he really seems like the nicest guy in the world IRL.
  13. See everyone, this is what we get for bringing up Elizabeth Mitchell so much in the first place. Now we just need to keep saying "we really hope that Marian dies and Regina and Robin are able to ride off into the sunset together" and then maybe it won't happen that way.
  14. The only way Rumple could have kept his memories would be if he had cast the curse himself. That is why Regina was the only one who had her memories. Rumple didn't cast the curse himself because he was either unable or unwilling to sacrifice the one he loved most. He didn't simply get to choose whether or not to keep his memories. He did not get to dictate who did and did not keep their memories. Do you really think he would have willingly given up his memories if he could have kept them? Someone had to come to the land without magic without being cursed who would one day find Storybrooke and release everyone from the curse. That person was Emma. Until she arrived in Storybrooke, Rumple would not be able to to search for his son. Rumple and Regina were both responsible for Emma's upbringing. Regina gets some bonus demerits for actually trying to kill Emma to prevent her from ever being able to undo the curse. To imply that Snow and Charming were selfish parents for sending their baby away rather the having her spend what may very well have been an eternity as a newborn being raised by complete strangers is really incomprehensible to me.
  15. And just how was Rumple going to facilitate the end of the curse with no memory of the son he was searching for and no awareness that he was cursed? The only thing that restored Rumple's memory at the beginning of Season One was hearing Emma's name. I can guarantee you that IF baby Emma had been cursed and in Storybrooke along with everyone else, she would have been there under a different name.
  16. You're entitled to see it that way, and I and other people here are entitled to disagree with you. It's so not worth an argument.
  17. You could also decide to see the sky as orange, that doesn't make it so. As a big fan of the character of Regina, I will more than readily concede that if Regina had had her way the day the curse was enacted, Emma wouldn't have grown up at all. As for the Geppetto/Pinocchio thing, Geppetto figured out that Pinocchio, if sent to a land without magic, would revert to being a wooden puppet, and therefore no longer "alive". THAT is what Geppetto was saving him from.
  18. It wasn't until about 2/3 of the way through that I realized she was singing "Summertime". It was an odd rendition vocally - very affected, and she kind of sounded to me like a natural Alto trying to sing Soprano. She also looked like she may have been a little drunk. On topic, Colin looked good, and looked like he was having a good time. He seems to be really happy to be able to put his musical talents to use again.
  19. I second this! While I always thought he was cute, I also though Graham was rather bland as a character. Plus, to my ears Jamie Dornan's Northern Irish accent was so thick that I really had to strain to understand what he was saying at least half the time.I also love Regina, so what do I know?
  20. Cindy - my condolences to you, your husband, and the rest of the family. I've had grandparents pass away suddenly (the first in a car accident when I was 12) so I know how this can just shake up a family. I feel for your son with his prom and graduation happening this week. He'll probably have lots of mixed emotions going on. My best to all of you as you endure what is sure to be a very hard week.
  21. Hey everyone. Another TWoP refugee here with the same user name. Looking forward to continuing the discussion over here.
