  1. Rewatching this episode now and I'm confused about the homeless guy. He said he's been homeless and living out of the back of his truck but that his wife visited him regularly. Where was she living? And couldn't be live there too? I'm sure there's a logical explanation but I was trying to figure out the logistics and couldn't. So I wish they had gone into his story a bit more (never thought I'd say that since I hate the stories on Shark Tank).
  2. I want to try that biscotti. Sounded like the orange/chocolate was very tasty. And yes to Vikram not really understanding that he doesn't (yet) have the kind of reputation where people will pick him even when he's not offering the best deal. Very sad that the guy's laptop was stolen - you know, the one with all the pictures of this creature that doesn't exist...
  3. I would love to try the Nova Scotia Fisherman's cuticle cream but it's $11 to ship to the states. Meaning the shipping will be more than the product. Hope I can find it locally because I'm really interested.
  4. stillshimpy - I'm with you on the NPR sponsorship thing. I also heard the teddy bear thing right after the bit about the pilot and his love of rabbits and I was speechless for five minutes. Who the hell is going to buy that?
  5. I was confused why the parents, who were not born in the US, had American names. I understand if they picked 'American' names, like Eddie did, but in my experience, that would be for people outside the house. I had an 'American' name but it's not what my parents used. I do like the younger brothers. They are cute but not annoying (yet, since that's always a possibility with the young ones).
  6. I did not know this either. I also thought Sherpa was a guide so I'll give Robert a break. I guess I know better know. Who knew Shark Tank could be educational. Roast the broccoli. Everyone who has tried it that way so far loves it, even a few people who would never touch broccoli. Turns out most vegetables taste better roasted.
  7. Since there is no thread for E20, I'm going to just say it here - I cannot wait to see what happens to make three of the Sharks walk out. I find Lori quite annoying, so I'll probably be on the side of the deserters. As for today's show, I'm so tired of Kevin and his 'you're a cockroach and the big guys will kill you'. Well, that's probably true for most new companies entering a market, but some companies will make a name for themselves. I'm not sure this lipstick company will, but there are companies that make it and him never acknowledging that is annoying. Can't believe that drink holder thing got a deal. Didn't realize spilled drinks in the pool were such a problem.
  8. I am so sad to hear about David. He is my favorite. Even though I live in the US, I enjoy Dragon's Den more than Shark Tank and he's one of the reasons why. I hope whoever they find is more like David and less like the two new Dragons, because they have not grown on me at all.
  9. I'm always cold and just recently bought an electric mattress pad for my bed and I love it. Much cheaper than $500 and I don't have to see it sitting by the side of the bed, needing dusting. As to cooling off the bed, I don't have that problem too often.
  10. $9 lip balm? No thank you. And who knew you could make a business out of selling a patch of grass to dog owners. But I do wish people would stop telling us that they have to get a deal, otherwise their family won't survive. I just hate those back stories and wish they would stop. Give me one more pitch instead. I'd rather hear about another product than watch another family play on swings.
  11. Say what you will about Mark (and he can get on my nerves) but if he thinks someone is out to scam the little guy, he'll say so. He doesn't try to be polite, just calls the person out. I appreciate that, because some of these people do seem to be just snake oil salesmen. That real estate investment was basically throwing your money at someone with no history of making good investments and hoping you get a return. Quite risky.
  12. Regarding the non-disposable pads - they said women spend $240 a year on disposable pads. I would like to know how much these pads cost because mine were $6-ish and would cover a month, if not more. The ones they were selling were $45-ish for 5 or something. You have to be pretty green to want to go that route.
  13. I probably should put this in David's thread, but I just want to say - I love David. He's funny, he has great lines, he seems easy going, he's a good sport when he needs to participate in some pitch. Probably will not happen, but I would love it if he and Arlene got together romantically. They are my favorites. Although I wish he was still sitting on Arlene's right. I just like him better in that position. I was expecting all 5 Dragons to go in for the ski team. Very surprised that did not happen. And the guy with the protein bar (or whatever it was) - if your product really can do all those things, you won't need money from the dragons. People will be beating down your door. But yes, a very bad pitch.
  14. As I was watching Palin, my first thought was 'is she high?' because, wow. ATIR - I appreciate you taking the bullet and watching her whole speech - let us know how it is.
  15. Now I want to see Godfrey live. I like him but unfortunately he doesn't have any shows coming up. I thought this episode was better, so they are definitely improving. But, yeah, how can you be a woman and hopefully supporter of women's rights and not clap, no matter who is saying 'equal pay for equal work'.
  16. That was just weird. He was so against them, and rude, for no reason I could see. And I hate his overly exaggerated hand motions when he says he's out. (I watched two episodes yesterday, so I hope I'm still on the right episode). The woman with the skinny pasta was also very annoying. Between her and the furniture guy, it was 'annoying pitches' day in the den.
  17. I think the second episode was better, so I think it just needs some time to iron out the kinks. Still don't like the table and they definitely need fewer people on the panel.
  18. Just watched last night's episode and I just want to say - what the fuck is wrong with people? The state is broke, actual people can't get an attorney, but money is set aside to pretty much traumatize some poor girl who is probably going through hell as it is? This country isn't anti-women, no siree.
  19. I'm a bit behind on my DVR so I just got to the Clooney joke - wow, that was fantastic. On point.
  20. I saw the top of Kerry Washington's dress and loved it. Then saw the rest of it - and no. I usually like what she wears, but not tonight.
  21. Wow - Kiera's dress - 30 people wasted a week to make that. That was unbelievably unattractive.
  22. I don't know why, but I laughed for about five minutes after Holt said (something like) 'they don't recommend having a TV in the bedroom, which is why ... I don't'
  23. Update on the Bomba socks (and then I will start posting in the product thread). They have been washed, came out of the dryer looking good and are still staying up like nobody's business. That might not be important to everyone but it makes a difference for me, since I'm tired of my socks ending up around my ankles. Now, I wish they would make some knee socks. I will be buying a few more pairs.
  24. As an aside, I wish we had one thread for the season, instead of individual ones. I wanted to comment on a product and had hell of a time finding the right week. Anyway, bought the Bomba socks. I haven't washed them yet, so don't know how they'll hold up after washing, but so far, I really like them. They come in a size SMALL, which I need and am not always able to find, they do stay up, which the cheap ones I get at Target never do, and I was worried about the soles, since they seemed a bit thick ,and I hate those socks with the extra cushioning, since they never feel comfortable to me, but once on, I'm not able to tell that there's a bit of extra cushioning. So far, so good. Kind of expensive, yes, but if they last, and do stay up, I'll be a customer.
