  1. I don't know if he's on anything or not, but I don't for a second think he was asleep on Candace's shoulder while they were awaiting the verdict. I think he was shutting out the room because he was upset and knew he was about to be auf'd. He didn't want to be a part of the chatter.
  2. I hate that Swapnil gave up, and he clearly did. And I don't disagree with the auf'ing or the no Tim Gunn save. That having been said, what the hell crawled up Swapnil's model's butt?? She disliked everything he showed her, but never (that we saw) tried to explain what it was she did want, besides that she wanted her arms covered. He did that, on two different tops, and she didn't like the sleeve on either top. She acted as if he were personally offending her on some level. I just don't get it.
  3. Nooooo! I just saw a commercial for a new show called.... Chopped Juniors! A whole show devoted to rugrats. On a positive note, maybe it will keep them off Chopped. Poor Ted.
  4. Eddie posted yesterday about being in NY for some really cool project he couldn't talk about yet.
  5. Yeah, I'm pretty sure now that all of the "celebrities" were contracted for a specific number of episodes and they know exactly who's going home each week. I absolutely don't buy Urkle going out before Barry. Did we even get a closeup of their chopped veggies after they were done? I thought the first episode was amusing but I could barely be bothered to look up at the tv when this episode was on, so I'm really not sure.
  6. I wasn't sure where to post this article but I found it fascinating and wanted to share it here to see what you guys thought. It's a Salon article by a woman whose mom was an anti-hoarder and slowly stripped away everything in their home, and then began removing them as well. BTW, what would you guys think about a thread here on the Psychology of Hoarding?
  7. Paron, thanks for the update. Interesting that none of Blake's team have been montaged ( so far)
  8. I know! "I really want to get a 4-chair turn. If I don't turn all 4, it'll be like that B I got in high school." Gag. (And I'll say that as a former Lisa Simpson "evaluate me!" grade whore). It's immaturity, and she'll likely grow out of it, but it's off-putting. I also found her singing to be very affected. "I've got a brand new pair of rollershkites..." /end mean rant
  9. I really, really loved the first girl who sang tonight. There was a quality in her voice (Dolly? Emmy Lou Harris?) I just couldn't get enough of.
  10. I love these too! I especially love the ones where Ted gets to cook.
  11. Just when I thought it was safe to come back to Chopped, they follow the kids tournament with the kids redemption show/tournament. They need to get off my lawn. Is it over yet? I want my adult cooks back.
  12. Really?? When The Pho girls had to sell 100 items in Greek town instead of 50? What exactly did they do to "submarine" the Waffle truck?
  13. Maybe I'm an easy mark, but I found this one really touching. The friendship between Riley and Maya and among all the core group (please more Zay) was really believable and rootable. And I really loved that they had Corey take a moment and acknowledge all of the other students in the classroom and that they have their own stories and dramas going on.
  14. Did I hear Heidi call the guest judge Coo Coo?
  15. He made me think of Garrett from Community. A lot. (He also made me cry a little. I thought he was awesome. Jordan, that is)
  16. I know it's exactly what the show wants - he did get the pimp spot after all - but I'm all about Barrett. MaryPat Shelby, I thought the same thing. I kept thinking he should record a country version of Don't Speak.
  17. I don't think Separation Oscillation refers to Leonard and Penny. Sheldon and Amy break up in the 1st or 2nd episode, I think.
  18. Thanks for reminding me of this! I thought that was awful. I have a brother who's paraplegic and I have a visceral reaction to people using handicap parking spaces or scooters when they don't need them. Probably just being young and stupid/unaware, but I hope he catches hell about that when he gets home and learns better.
  19. I'm glad you said this because I was mentally composing a post this morning while getting ready for work (it's official; I have no life) and came to much the same conclusion. My issue with the Waffle brothers comes down to the sense of entitlement I feel from them. I'm not sure if I can articulate the reasons why exactly, but it's a combination of things like half-assing most of the cooking challenges, closing down to go to church, telling people not to order the challenge dish. It's as if they feel like God is their invisible teammate, and that gives them an advantage over the others. I'm sure my status as a former fundie may by influencing my feelings quite a bit on this one, and I'm honestly not saying there's anything wrong with having faith and living by it. It's more a vibe I get from the brothers, that their faith makes them superior. That vibe was reinforced by their TH about the car show and how their method of "shaking hands and looking people in the eye" and coming across as honest people gave them the advantage over the other 2 crews. WTH? We saw the other two crews also going car to car and meeting people individually just like they did. What made them come across as less "honest?" The fact that they had signs with their menu items on it? Do they Waffle brothers actually think they *are* more honest than the other 2 crews? That seems to be what they were saying.
  20. One thing I appreciated about Swapnil was his attitude after being in the bottom. When the judges asked if he ran out of time he just said something like "There were some amazing garments made in the same amount of time, so I'm not going to use that excuse." I thought it was refreshing.
  21. I know we heard Swapnil's strategy from the man himself, but I don't buy he's been no-humming it all this time. I DO buy that he's been careful not to shoot his wad all at once or peak too soon, but I don't think that's the same thing as not trying. What I saw tonight had producer manipulation all over it. Combine the strategy "confession" with clip after clip of Swapnil sitting or standing still or taking a smoke break and a few shots of what appear to be other contestants staring bemusedly in Swapnil's direction and you have a narrative. No one else took breaks? Of course they did. We just didn't see them in this episode because it didn't fit the narrative. That said, Swapnil, stop smoking. You're much too pretty to stink and have yellow teeth.
  22. I suspect it has something to do with the hurry up and wait nature of filming a tv show. They probably have to be at the winner/loser announcement location for hours and on camera filming for just a few minutes. It probably something he keeps around to while away the boredom and when it's time to film he just slings it around his neck.
  23. Looks like all the trucks in the shopping center parking lot had to pack up and move.
  24. Typo. http://youtu.be/Pubd-spHN-0
  25. I remember an article about the word awhile back. Shonda Rhimes didn't actually make up "vajayjay." It was already in use at the time but not well known. She chose to use it because the censors wouldn't let her use the word "vagina" (although they'd used the word "penis" many times on the show without a problem).
