  1. I really liked the delivery guy with Amy. Too bad they’ll never last because Jonah/Amy was always going to be endgame. I’m happy for Cheyenne that Harmonica gets to go to a daycare with no fires.
  2. Re Jonah and Amy: just get together or don’t. This will-they-or-won’t-they is tiresome. Sandra stole the show in this episode. I loved her confession and the pastor’s reaction.
  3. Whether or not evidence is admissible is up to a judge. Also, Emily lied to the local authorities, that’s called obstruction of justice. But fair enough, they couldn’t have advanced the prison arc and I’ve suspended disbelief for this show to a degree that would probably classify me as delusional. Another UO so I’m still on topic: I’ve hated all the season-long arcs this show has ever had. Foyet is the only one I can stand, and it took another 4-5 seasons before I looked back and thought, Hey, that’s actually not bad. (Btw that whole individual team member interview thing in 100, SVU did it back in 2002). This Barnes plotline is only supposed to be 3 episodes but it feels like an eternity already. I just want it to end, I don’t care what anyone’s motivation is. I still care about the characters, but I’m not really sure I care for the show anymore.
  4. Seriously, Prentiss, here’s a primer on destroying evidence: 1. Destroy evidence. 2. Don’t tell anyone under any circumstances that you destroyed evidence. Unpopular opinion: I think Barnes is hot.
  5. I laughed so hard when Marcus reasoned that if we ate a human woman then it’d be okay to drink human milk.
  6. I enjoyed the show this week, especially Heather’s segment and Jen’s segment. Greg is still really annoying but I actually liked Colleen in this one!
  7. Not a serial killer, but probably on her way to becoming one.
  8. In my view, the show never recovered from firing Paget and AJ. Season 6 was when the writing started to decline in quality. I loved the team of Seasons 3 to 5, and 7, but I’m not sure if the show would’ve been better if the actors had all stayed. If the show had gone down the same route with all the action drama, contrived family bonding moments, and pirates and werewolves, I don’t see how the golden team could’ve elevated the material. I actually stopped watching the show after Season 8 (the puppet episode was really offputting) and didn’t really tune in again until Season 12 when Paget rejoined. I watched a few episodes here and there but was not impressed. I don’t feel as though I’ve missed anything. The only episode I have really enjoyed since Season 7 is Entropy. I liked Red Light, but mostly because MGG and AP in the fantasy sequences are so pretty together. /shallow
  9. I notice your semicolon amidst all the commas, and I’m loving it.
  10. That would explain it! Gotta love the dash. I haven’t been on FFN for years, as I find the font too small and the search function impossible to use, so I’m glad you post on AO3 as well. The formatting is much easier on my eyes! (I know I can always press CTRL+ , but in my old age it’s too much effort.)
  11. I’ve been following this. What struck me particularly is how accurately you describe the symptoms of PTSD. I thought the flashback in the chapter when Reid opened the bag from prison was spot on. I especially like the mention of EMDR because I’ve done that; it isn’t a miracle cure but it does help with coping. If there is one thing I’d nitpick about, it’s the frequent use of ellipses. Stylistically it bugs me, because I was taught to use them as sparingly as possible. But style is a personal thing. I’m an abuser of the emdash myself.
  12. This entire plot is unnecessary. Instead of adding this B plot, the writers should’ve focused on writing a decent A plot. The case was .... still better than pirates. Gotta keep my expectations low. I didn’t feel sorry for the UNSUB because I’ve been sick for a month and I’d probably be first on his kill list. His motive for becoming a serial killer is so far fetched that I couldn’t muster up any sympathy.
  13. When you finally get the opportunity to tell your co-worker, “I find that I do some of my best work under intense terror,” and she doesn’t get it. On the plus side, neither of us have to do a prison interview (yet).
  14. I meant a crossover between CM and Suite Life of Zack and Cody, not CM and Beyond Borders. I wouldn’t want to watch anything to do with Beyond Borders. While I’m on the topic of mid-00s kid’s shows, I would really enjoy an encounter between Spencer Reid and Spencer Shay (of iCarly). Ha, I just remembered Jane Lynch guest starred as Sam’s mom on iCarly. I enjoy CM so much more these days when I watch it as a comedy and not, you know, and an actual procedural about profiling.
  15. I didn’t pay attention to the credits and I didn’t recognise the actress (shows how much attention I was paying to this episode) but hey, that’s the mom from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. I clearly did not watch Beyond Borders. Now I think I’ll be able to enjoy this arc more by pretending the whole thing was one giant crossover.
  16. I really liked the nerdy assistant. I find her more interesting than Simmons and she only had 4 lines. I was also pleasantly surprised that they didn’t make it in time to save the last victim. It might be the most plausible thing about the whole episode. I’m not sure I follow the COTW but I can’t be bothered to rewatch. I can’t believe they want to revisit Ninja!JJ again. I actually enjoyed JJ in the earlier seasons as the media liaison. I’ve never really been able to buy her as a profiler so making the leap to BAU chief does not sound believable to me.
  17. It was much better than the pirate episode. I find this show is more enjoyable when I keep the bar low. The werewolf bit was unnecessary. The story about a vigilante killer would’ve worked without the clinical lycanthropy. The Real Rain in Season 1 was about a vigilante killer in New York and whilst that wasn’t one of the strongest episodes of the season, it didn’t involve a storyline from Supernatural. I’m not even asking for Season 1 quality. I can live with Season 7-quality writing. Seriously, my bar is low. That said, I genuinely felt terrible for the UNSUB, and his wife. I’ve enjoyed Reid’s outfits last week and this week. He looks more dapper than usual. But I still wish he would invest in a razor and a haircut. Apparently, in the writers’ minds, he only exists at this point to spout a bunch of random facts and/or statistics. It’s such lazy writing. This season has been very unkind to Emily in terms of hair and wardrobe. I don’t really care about getting a peek into the characters’ personal lives, so I could’ve lived without Luke’s blind date. Garcia is annoying as hell. ETA: This case didnt’t need the BAU, it needed Neon Joe: Werewolf Hunter. He-yump!
  18. This episode would’ve made for absurd comedy except it wasn’t funny. I can’t believe someone actually wrote the line, “There is no crying when you’re a pirate” and other people approved it, then a whole bunch of other people produced this episode. This is right up there with the SVU episode where the bad guy was smuggling monkeys in basketballs.
  19. I’ve wondered about the practical childcare arrangements for Jack after Haley died. If Hotch is called to work in the middle of the night, does he call Jessica to come over and watch Jack? Or does he drop Jack off with Jessica before he heads to Quantico? Does Jessica work or is she supposed to take of Jack full time? At least Will is around to look after Henry and Michael when JJ is at work, plus Henry had a nanny. Topic ... I love the look of relief on Elle’s face when Hotch appears in the interview room, as well as the way he instinctive gives her his jacket and she puts it on. But seriously, these kids should never go on vacation. People die.
  20. I hear you, JenJenBosco. My birthday was on a Tuesday this year and I was going to take both the Monday and Tuesday off for an extended weekend. Unfortunately, work blew up the week before so I had to cancel my leave for the Monday - I did take leave on my birthday but spent most of the day checking my work email. I would have cancelled my leave on my birthday if I was absolutely needed in the office (thankfully, I am utterly dispensable). Believe me, I was not happy about having to cancel my leave, but that’s the job. I get why Haley was annoyed and snippy when Gideon called. When she married Hotch, they were probably young and Hotch’s job required less travel away from home (though I can’t imagine he would be coming home at 5:00 pm every night if he was working as a federal prosecutor). As time passed, I feel Haley probably started feeling resentful of Hotch never being around and that Hotch prioritized his job over his family, etc. Rightly or wrongly, it probably wasn’t the life she thought she’d signed up for. I always thought Haley was overly harsh with Hotch in In Name and in Blood but now, when I rewatch S1, I just feel sad for both of them knowing what future has in store.
  21. I’ve never liked Colleen and this episode did her no favors. This show has enough characters as it is, it doesn’t need Clementine especially now that she and Tyler are getting divorced.
  22. I laughed out loud when I saw Tyler’s straightened hair. Enjoyed the callback to all the family photos being replaced by photos of Matt and Samantha. I also liked that every character (except Clementine but I didn’t miss her) appeared tonight.
  23. I don’t live in the U.S. so I was blissfully unaware of the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories until this episode. I looked it up afterwards and I am shocked and angry that there are actual people who believe this and harass the families of the victims. On a more positive note, I rewatched the episode and the Rossi/Emily exchange on the jet about JFK is still delightful. I liked that we learned more about Tara without the episode devolving into a PSA or overwrought drama of Taking! It!Personally! as the folks would do on SVU.
  24. Definitely my favorite of the season. I echo the poster above who said this episode ide was reminiscent of the funnier episodes of X Files. I had low expectations when I first read the summary but ended up being entertained by the amusing absurdity of it all (killer coral!). Life is weird and messy, as Tara says. It was fun to see the show not take itself so seriously for once.
  25. 3rd Life rewatch today. It continues to make zero sense to me why Lindsey got so pissed off at Reid that in 10 years she frames him for murder and kidnaps his mom. But I enjoyed Green Light and Red Light so I’ll live with it. The ending to 3rd Life makes me a little sad now, poor girl never had a chance. I guess your options are limited when you’re the offspring of the Yellow Eyed Demon. I find the mid-00s flip phones endearing in a time when cellphones no longer have buttons. Prentiss wears dark purple tonight, also a flattering color on her. I’m not gonna lie, S3 is my favorite season purely based on Prentiss’ hair and wardrobe alone.
