  1. I love this show so much. The writing is smart, the acting is great and I love the little village they shoot in...which is Grantchester, I believe. On the PBS website, they have lots of extras and some interviews with cast members. One person mentions how the town is a character and I kind of agree. It’s so pretty. The music for the show is by John Lunn who did all the music for Downton Abbey and won lots of awards for the show. I bought the soundtrack. I just love it. Yes Amanda is a challenging character and her “situation” is fucked up. But Sidney loves her and those who love Sidney see how happy she makes him. I bought the books but haven’t read them. Somewhere I read the show has not stuck to the storyline. I don’t know how they will deal with this but I do feel for her character. It took a very strong character to walk away from society and be someone that wasn’t in your same social circles. She was young and let outside crap influence her. But her bad decision is going to affect them both...and not in a good way. I am interested to see how this all plays out. I also LOVE that there is a gay character on the show. The household knows he’s gay but don’t care because he’s family now. At least that is how I see it but this is another storyline that will be interesting to watch. I am sad that the season is over. It felt shorter than Season 1. Beadgirl - Thank you for mentioning about love. These shows depict romantic love. The line Leonard says about waiting forever when you love someone. Damn. I was a heap on the floor. So good.
  2. Did you see how crowded that class was in the photo? Damn. Ms. Kitty does a heck of a business.
  3. I agree. Michelle has a lot of fans on this board and we are the audience for the show. She’s teaching classes at Kitty’s studio and we all see how many DCC and would be/wanna be DCC’s show up to her classes. It would be amazing if she was brought in instead of country Zumba/Jazzercise lady from last season. Yes she is a contributing choreographer but was never a member of the squad.
  4. She did/does have an ABC contract. CMT is owned by Paramount so not sure if she could have two contracts but maybe ABC is done. I forgot she was contributing correspondent on Good Morning America. They sent her to cover a lot of red carpets including the Academy Awards. She also did The Bachelor and co-hosted the first season of Bachelor in Paradise with Chris Harrison. I still feel there are better mentors out there.
  5. Melissa was just a member of the squad for two years. She was not a star while there. So bringing her back, and yes, she did do two seasons of Dancing with the Stars as well as a short stint with the traveling show, does seem odd when there are better choices out there. Better dancers, women who have chosen dance as their career. But we all know why she is there. Celebrity, no matter how small, means something I suppose in ratings. She doesn’t bother me. Yes, I would rather have Michelle Keys mentoring the girls but nationally, she has no name.
  6. Sorry but Michelle looks awful. I think only folks with a deep tan or darker skin can pull off yellow. Not loving the hair nor make-up either. She is such a gorgeous woman, she needs a new team of stylists.
  7. Amensisterfriend and Northhanger Abby - I agree with you on so many points! I realize I didn’t say what I liked about the show, which as I pointed out, I watch every day and love. Regarding Season 6, I agree about Robert and the puppy. It is a favorite moment. Robert gives one of the best faces. Ever. My other favorite moment of Season 6 is Mrs. Patmore running to see Edith and Bertie off. I get goose bumps every time I see. It’s adorable and funny at the same time. Edith at work is a joy to watch...something completely different for the show. The show gave away that Bertie and Edith were going to be together with the comment from Season 5, “Poor Mr. Pelham. We all sort of feel sorry for him.” Ding, Ding, Ding!!!!! Edith’s soul mate!!! Ha! I will write more when I think of more...thanks for all the positive feedback!
  8. I have watched the final season, all the seasons actually, over and over and over and, well you get it. I turn it on every day. Yes every day since March 2015. So here are my thoughts on the last season. 1) The dialogue - so bad. It has really devolved after 5 seasons and so it is just as well that the show ends now as Julian seemed out of gas. Rose and Atticus’ dialogue in the last episode was simply, stupid. I found it embarrassing for the characters. The actor playing Atticus didn’t look great and each time he said something, the purse just fell out of his mouth. I thought, what has JF done to this character? Robert yelling at Rosamund when arguing about telling Bertie about Marigold, “How long are you going to stay? Surely your cold has cleared up by now.” Is that an English saying? If not, he said the same thing to her several seasons back when arguing with her. 2) Making Carson and Daisy odious. Daisy always had her moments but she was insufferable this season and came off as entitled...which doesn’t make sense considering her status in the house. After mouthing off once, almost twice then rifling through Mary’s bedroom and taking the hair dryer, wouldn’t that be just wrong in those days? And no one thought anything of it. Carson, who was hard but was always shown to be sentimental, had no heart this season AND HE GOT MARRIED, which would imply he would be softer, yes? He said horrible things with a smile on his face like he was giving someone a compliment. So much so when at the servant’s table and Daisy tells the group that Mosley is a natural in his teaching, Mr. Bates comment, “Your a kind man. It’s about time you were rewarded for your kindness,” he looks at Carson when he is done speaking. No one says a word. I caught that after watching a few times and thought, is he throwing shade at Carson? 3) Julian’s obsession with food. This is really an observation about the entire series. The amount of time devoted to meals on this show, the show should be titled Mealtime at Downton Abbey. It is always time to eat. They’ve just eaten. Lunch isn’t for a half hour. Why don’t you have breakfast in your room? You missed lunch but how about a cup of coffee? We’d better get back or we’ll be late (for a meal). Dinner is at 8. We’ll be back before tea. What about a tray? Has the gong been rung? Is breakfast finished? I've thought this for a long time: How is this family not a bunch of obese alcoholics? They drink at lunch, dinner and after dinner (more or less). Everyday. 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Year after year. And all the while Michelle Dockery looks like she’s about to fall over from starvation. 4) The actress who played Lily. This another overall observation. I don’t know her real name but she was on the show for five seasons, all but Season 6. She muttered ONE line of dialogue her entire time on the show: “Hurray up” in the opening of Season 1 talking to Daisy when they do the 2 minute single shot of the servants in the house working before the family comes down. What a champ. 5) Nothing for Maggie to do. I believe JF ran out of gas for Violet years ago. He should regret: the endless hospital storyline, the chicken broth storyline, and lastly, the missing letter knife/ivory figurine/gardener kid storyline. JF loves Maggie. Loves writing for her. Why he failed her season after season makes no sense. To her credit, she did great with what she was given but she deserved better. The best thing he did was after seasons of ho-hum plot lines, introduce an scandalous love story into her storyline. It was kind of brilliant. When Mary utters, “Granny has a past” it was an adrenaline shot to her character in the best possible way. But these others? Sheesh. I’m sure there is more but these are my opinions....would love to hear what others think. Thanks!
  9. I love this show so much especially Maggie Siff. I have a huge girl crush on her. I’m buying the dvd...if there is one.
  10. I don’t think you are...that’s the point.
  11. There’s a ferry that runs between CT and the Hamptons though. But I don’t know where in CT it leaves from.
  12. Maggie is gorgeous. But she needs to change her hair. Just sayin'
  13. The music at the end when Sidney was giving the private sermon to the woman in the wheelchair was gorgeous. The music has been used before but I just love it. James Norton is a complete babe. Amanda knows she screwed up and married the wrong man. I don’t mind her so much, I just wish she would make a decision instead of putting Sidney in the middle. He’s done nothing wrong. He should tell her how he feels and then get on with his life. She won’t divorce Guy, that’s for certain (wasn’t divorce scandalous in those days). I didn’t like Hildegard (at least, I didn’t like the actress they cast) so happy for now that she is not in picture.
  14. Or on Project Runway when a designer gets annoyed that he/she is having to design for a woman with curves.
  15. I asked because if they are in CT, then wouldn’t the state of CT handle AXE Capital? I assume there are US Attorney’s offices in every state but I have no clue. And Chuck heads up Southern district. Is that Southern district of Manhattan where Wall Street is located. I am confused because of the locations....
  16. Lots to say here: 1) I hate Chuck’s father and don’t feel it was easy for Chuck to say he was sorry. Who wants a father who watches over you like a hawk and dissects whatever you do then tells you to your face what you are doing wrong or right? That is one fucked up relationship. 2) Who was following Chuck? I cannot believe he just left the club without asking lots of questions. 3) I don’t get what Wendy sees in Chuck. Once in a while she will tell him that she loves him but he’s a mess who cares more about winning than his marriage, even though he was complaining to his friend that he knows his marriage is in trouble. I wonder if this is the end for them. 4) Lara’s sister acted like an entitled asshole in last night’s episode. "I wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for you.” or whatever she said. She’s a child and her sister gave her her own restaurant. 5) The ‘we came from nothing and need to remember that’ is getting old. 6) I’m confused about the locations. Where is AXE Capital located? The NY suburbs? 7) Lara’s statement, “I question Wendy’s continuing value to the firm” (paraphrased) sounded like a line out of a bad Sci-Fi show or cult film.
  17. I love, love, love Wendy Sipps and she plays her character so well. Her lack of knowledge of the Donnie situation makes Lara look like even more of complete bitch than she already is. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight.
  18. I love that you caught that too! I thought it was so cute!!!! I’ve watched the whole series over and over and over and over and I have to say some bad things about Carson. I think he was likable in Season 1 and 2 but after that I hate how he is written. The character got more and more stuck up and completely unsympathetic. This last season he was insufferable. I kept thinking, why the hell is she marrying this guy?
  19. Helena monster and proserpinas65 - I watched it again twice and there it was. Sorry all.
  20. So PBS re-aired the Christmas episode last night and showed two scenes that were not in the original airing: - Bertie’s mother talking to Bertie about Edith being damaged goods after Edith reveals her secret. - Edith talking to Robert and Cora telling them she told Bertie’s mother the truth about Marigold. I live in LA and neither of these scenes were shown in when aired two weeks ago. I have on my dvr but since this was my third or fourth time watching, I was surprised to see these two scenes. I will watch from my dvr again tonight to check. Anyone else notice this?
  21. Unpopular Opinion: I thought Holly was awesome in that video.
  22. That was Taylor Kelli called out. She was in training camp at the time so it makes sense they are keeping an eye on everyone...in every way!
  23. This issue was touch on on the Former DCC thread but I want to continue it so I thought I would move it here. As far as the DCC posting stories on the website, Jackie Bob was the winner in my book. She was the first to make her posts interactive with the fans, turning the tables on them and asking them fun, silly questions about all kinds of things. And she was funny (a novelty in those posts). Her personality beamed through. They should have made her in charge of social media. With that said, it brings to mind something else so thank you Jackie Bob for inspiring this. I know there are stalkers and we are in a social media OVERLOAD on this planet but I believe there is still a way to connect with fans without having to reveal your most personal thoughts/phone number/boyfriend’s name. The DCC site is so bad as is their Facebook page, and the cheerleaders individual Instagram and Twitter pages are just pictures posted mainly. Boring. There needs to be interviews or stories posted again. These girls are way more interesting than anyone gives them credit for. I always look at Tom Hanks as an example of someone who always has lots to talk about but never reveals anything very personal about himself. Same with Jason Bateman. They talk about sleep, travel, funny things that happen to them. Kelli and Judy talk about how the DCC is a world class organization all the time. But their online presence is embarrassing. We used to know something about the team and each girl. Now we know nothing about any of them. Isn’t that the point of the reality show? File this under missed opportunities.
  24. Sorry, you are right...they have some kind of connection though. I need to look up.
