What I don't get is the show claiming platonic friends but then giving us this episode with all of the Ichabbie feels.

Yeah, welcome to TV "platonic" relationships. I've been here before. Either they'll never go there (but the writers have to be committed to it), or they are totally going to go there, but it will take a few seasons of ups and downs. I'm thinking it's the latter for this show.

Is this some sort of power play between the EPs and the audience? Are they telling us we better get in line and accept Laurel as our One True Princess Warrior, or they'll keep fridging everyone that gets in her way? Is this the point where these guys out themselves as legit scum people?

The only other shows that I know of that deliberately trolled their audiences are Smallville and Supernatural. Hmm... maybe it's a CW symptom.

  3. For me one of the best parts was Barry telling Iris about his secret, zipping around her while she was pouring a sugar packet.

Loved this! It was a nice unexpected way of showing his powers, and we got some insight on what he's thinking/feeling.

Okay, it's Smallville 2.0. I'm not upset about it. This is fun. That's all I ask.

What makes this better than Smallville right off the bat is that 1.) everyone is out of high school, so waaaay less teen drama, and 2.)  Barry is going headfirst into being a public superhero instead of waffling for like 8 seasons.

  4. Can someone explain to me this part about the show with the ending? I'm confused...

1.) So that assassin did just work for both Falcone and Marone? He took orders from both of them to continually kill the other guy's councilman? Seems weird?

It seems so. The show itself didn't provide another explanation.

2.) Why is Bruce upset when Arkham Asylum is still going to be opened/refurnished just like his parents wanted? I know they wanted to tear it down and still build a new mental health facility but wasn't that what the old Arkham Asylum was, a mental health facility?

Well, besides the fact that mob bosses were going to profit off of it, his parents wanted a new, modern facility to "bring hope" to the city (and tear down the old symbol of failure).

3.) Why originally was Maroney's plan to tear down the Arkham Asylum completely but now it's part of his contract to refurbish the Asylum? Wouldn't the refurbishing and reopening of the Asylum be part of Falcone's contract since he wanted it reopened and not Maroney?

    Can't help with this one....

  5. Just want to touch on two things that I don't think have been mentioned:

    1. Way to cross-promote your characters, DC. (Felicity saying Sara was an "Amazonian warrior")

    2. I would have liked to see a Single Manly Tear from Oliver. By himself or something. I figure he should get a minute to grieve; and if we didn't get it in this episode, I doubt we'll get it later.

    ----

Oh, and thanks to whoever pointed out that they put Sara in a fridge. LITERALLY.

  6. I recently noticed that in the press releases for the episodes in addition to the respective character names, they have "the future Riddler" and "the Catwoman" listed. Because stuff like that hasn't spelled out enough already. ::eyeroll::

    --------

I might not mind a "filler" episode if they can use it to flesh out some of the characters. I feel there is a lack of backstory/context for who some of them are NOW, as opposed to who they will become.

  7. A NEW STREET DRUG STORMS THE STREETS OF GOTHAM ON AN ALL-NEW "GOTHAM" MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, ON FOX

Gordon and Bullock search for the source of a new street drug that causes euphoria then death. Meanwhile, Oswald Cobblepot works his way deeper into Maroni's (guest-star David Zayas) inner circle and Fish Mooney continues to plot against Falcone in the all-new "Viper" episode of GOTHAM

  8. Also, Gotham apparently has the laziest police force EVER. They're not just corrupt they also don't care to do anything even when they have a legitimate case like this episode. I wonder when Harvey is going to learn to listen to Jim, considering that so far he's hit the nail on the head at the start of I think EVERY case so far as to the motive behind it while Harvey just dismisses things as a mugging or whatever until oops! It turns out Jim is right, again. If I were Jim Gordon I would have gotten the hell out of that city a long time ago and moved to one that wasn't already a hopeless cause that I might actually be able to do some good in. I hope they soon give Gordon a half decent reason for sticking around until he becomes Commissioner besides solving the Wayne murders.

I have this same issue with the show, too. Going into this, I thought that they'd be showing how Gotham spiraled downward so far that it would eventually need a masked vigilante to save it. But they're showing that Gotham was already pretty crappy from the start.

A few ways that come to mind: ...

Yeah, #1 and #3 were the main things I thought of, of how you make money off (corrupted) low-income housing developments. It's not really from the actual rent from tenants.
