  1. Well, smeg - forum ate my post. One more try:

Some last second speculation before the premiere:

Keeping in mind that Adan Canto's death is way more tragic and meaningful than anything that can happen on this silly , fictional TV show,

It just sucks that the show is losing Arman, and that there won't be a proper payoff to the Thony/Arman relationship.

However, without Arman, hopefully they'll have more focus on Nadia building her own empire.

Two of the new male characters sound like new love interests for Thony; I really hope don't attempt yet another love triangle. They had really cooled down Thony/Arman last season, so I suppose it would be relatively easy to pair her with someone new, but who knows if the chemistry will be the same.

But I'm more interested in Thony using her smarts to find a way out of her circumstances; I don't like that's she's going to be in debt to yet another criminal.

Looks like Fiona has a new love interest in the Phillipines; so I'm guessing she'll be there for at least a few episodes -- if not half the season.

  2. 3x02 synopsis:

    Quote

    "For My Son"

THONY BECOMES INDEBTED TO RAMONA ON THE ALL-NEW EPISODE OF THE CLEANING LADY TUESDAY, MARCH 12, ON FOX

Thony turns to Ramona to get Fiona back to the United States but finds herself indebted. Meanwhile, a secret Fiona has kept hidden for decades comes to light, creating friction between herself and family members in the all-new "For My Son" episode of The Cleaning Lady airing Monday, March 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (CLD-302) (TV-14 L, V)

Cast: Elodie Yung as Thony; Martha Millan as Fiona; Kate del Castillo as Ramona; Sebastien LaSalle as Luca; Valentino LaSalle as Luca; Faith Bryant as Jaz; Sean Lew as Chris; Eva De Dominic as Nadia; Santiago Cabrera as Jorge.

  3. Again I'm know I'm not saying anything new, but it amuses me that while this show tackles similar themes as Star Trek (I'm comparing to TNG mainly), it's also the opposite of Star Trek. And not just because one's a drama and the other a comedy, there's the differences in budget and special effects, a large cast/crew vs. not just a small crew but a 'small' universe with few civilizations, one is usually cerebral while the other is usually carnal, and one ordered the other chaotic; not to mention Red Dwarf's disregard for continuity! LOL

Anyway, started Season 8; and in the category of 'Lines that Did Not Age Well, from 8.03:

Rimmer (in the brig): "Two years with the scum of the universe, hardened criminals, deranged droids; people so unbalanced and debauched they couldn't even get elected as President of the United States!"

  4. Don't have much commentary for this one; but I'm glad we're back to format.

It was cool to see Marvin Jones III (the blind vet) again since Black Lightning.

Only fashion standout was Dee's sweater. (And I guess Mel's shiny pants, but I didn't really like those.)

Sorry, but I think it's more likely that Miss Winfrey did that somewhat drastic action out of pre-emptive strike over believing she might have been on the verge of being exposed for not having been totally candid about using WW (and its supplements) for her weight loss THAN her  having done this solely out of the wanting to be honest.

I don't know if anything was "drastic". She admitted to using weight-loss drugs months ago.

Plus, I'm guessing she doesn't want to specifically mention a brand as that'd constitute an endorsement.

Also this; and that would probably hurt both Oprah AND WeightWatchers in whatever deal they have.

and (at the very least) let the public including the stockholders  believe that her weight loss had been solely due to her having followed the WW program.

I don't really follow news about Oprah or WW; but, did this happen?

  6. Finished Season 7;

I'm not really feelin' the addition of Kochanski. In theory, I wanted to see what a female presence in the crew might look like, but in general they had her in conflict with everybody. She didn't really fit the Rimmer-shaped hole in the show.

Some fun scenes, but not really any whole episodes I can say are favorites; especially in the back half.

Having a recurring joke is fine but I found that they got too repetitive with this joke format: "That's [x]-er than a [way too many words]!"

I keep reading that people hated Season 8, so we'll see how this goes.

  7. When Arman mysteriously disappears, Thony and Nadia begrudgingly team up to look for him. Meanwhile, Fiona tries to manage the aftermath of her deportation to the Philippines and reconnects with an old flame.

    Airdate: March 5, 2024

Thank you, Trini.  It's interesting when he's interrogating people as if someone owes him answers.  He's not even a private investigator, so the sense of entitlement/condescension from him when he's questioning folks has me rooting against him a bit, even though it's supposedly a righteous cause. Maybe that feeling will fade.

Yeah, I know this is CBS, but this doesn't need to be another Cop Show.

  9. I'm not afraid to revive a dormant topic; anyone want to discuss Red Dwarf?

    https://forums.primetimer.com/forum/6494-red-dwarf/

I recently discovered the entire series on Tubi, and I've gotten through Season/series 6. I remember watching some of this as a kid/teen on PBS in the 90s. The series had its ups and downs, but it took big swings, and had some great gags and characters.

  10. Starting Season 7, and I guess I did catch some of this in the nineties. I vaguely remember that there was an episode that had time travel for curries, and that it was weird that there was suddenly a woman on board.

I keep hearing that there are sucky seasons after this one -- any recommendations or warnings? My plan is to watch the whole series, but I'm interested in what other people think.

I mostly watch this doing other things, so maybe I missed it - is Colter former law enforcement? Something about the way he was questioning the rich boyfriend bugged me.

Not that we know of, so far. But I'd guess that he isn't because he's supposed to be an 'outsider'.

So Ben recognized Addison cause they were tied together right?

I thought it was Hannah's code that let them see themselves than the people they leapt into.

Leapers can see each other how they really look (NOT as the person they leapt into); this was established last season with whathisname, the 'evil' leaper.

  13. Finished Season 6; man, this show used time travel A LOT. And it was different every time.

LOL - I guess the trade-off for Lister/Craig getting to make out with beautiful women was that he had to make out with some monsters as well!

I miss Holly. But taking her out does mean that everyone else gets to do more stuff.

So, we're just going to create an entire planet of Rimmers, and never follow up on that? Oy.

Wow, the one(?) time they end on a life-or-death cliffhanger, and then the show doesn't come back for 3 years -- double Oy.

Still disappointing that Cat's been here this whole time but they still don't give him any A-plots.

ETA: I know that sounds like a bunch of complaints, but I'm still enjoying the show, it's still funny!

Okay, so I realize this is at least partly to save money on guest actors, but my point still stands!

    ---

So 2 episodes into Season 6 and yay! Cat has a third trait. I don't know if it makes sense that he can supposedly sniff things in outer space, but when has anything made sense on this show? LOL!

I appreciate the attempt at a serialized story, and changing the status quo, but it's weird that they would remove the thing that's the title of the show.

  15. Also the Deadline article: ‘Alex Rider’ To End With Season 3, Premiere Date Set At Freevee

    Quote

The end is in sight for Alex Rider. The Anthony Horowitz spy thriller will wrap its run with the upcoming third season. All eight episodes will be released on April 5 on Amazon Freevee in the UK, U.S. and Germany, bringing the final chapter of Alex’s journey of self-discovery to a close.

Can another streamer pick this up? 🤞🏻

Maybe? But it sounds like the producers are good with ending it at this point.

  16. Season 5:

Another good set of episodes; although the only one that I think didn't really fit in with the rest was "The Inquisitor", which was more sci-fi than funny.

Cat's been a little more involved in things, but I'm still waiting for him to have a central story or another personality trait. I do wonder where he gets all his clothes from, though -- LOL.

I'm a sucker for doppelgangers and alternate realities, so it's cool to see the different ways they used to have different versions of the characters.

This show is also fun just to hear some British slang!

Oh God me too. I love messy train wreck, characters usually, but I like my detectives to be functional adults without personal drama or horribly traumatic backstories who also get along with their coworkers. LOL That's true of both TV and books. Just do your detecting without being an angsty, troubled drama llama or an asshole!

It's not even that I'm against this type of character, in theory, but lately it seems like EVERY new show is this SAME character.

  18. TV has got to start getting away from 'Genius/Highly Skilled Protagonist With a Tragic, Mysterious Past (who can help everyone except themselves)'.

I'm ready for some well-adjusted detectives again, thanks. (Still miss you, God Friended Me !)

  19. Sense and Sensibility:

Yeah, they just had too much to cram into the runtime, and what suffered most was building up the relationships.

And of course, if you've seen the version with Emma Thompson it pales in comparison. Speaking of -- I kinda felt sorry for the actor playing Edward who had to do a Hallmark version of Hugh Grant.

I did like that they went colorful for the costumes; although I thought simpler might have been better in some cases.

I don't know if these were the "easter eggs", but I did get a kick out of the 'Regency instrumental' versions of "Kiss From a Rose" and "Weak".

I do appreciate that Hallmark attempted something like this. While they are definitely trying to get in on the costume/period drama trend, I don't think they were copying Bridgerton (there would be way more sex, and that just isn't their brand).
