Maybe! I figured she might be driving the ship because she's in the wrong time and wants to get back. Since Dinah had a place to live already and Laurel doesn't (a review says we get an idea of where she might live) I figured she just showed up for reasons unbeknownst to her, but I guess we'll see. I don't really care either way since I'm not going to watch this show if it gets picked up lol.

The IBI Times' review mentioned one person planning their trip to the future and one person definitely did not - I think Dinah is there on purpose (since she has a place to live and presumably a bar although why she's there who knows!) and Laurel is the one who didn't plan on being there/is there accidentally.

It has to be her graduation party since William mentioned her having a seat at Smoak Tech. And I took it to mean she as crashing the party too.

My desire to see a nicer future and be a S8 completionist vs the knowledge that tuning in means willingly subjecting myself to a double dose of Dinahs...bleh.

Yeah, the one who wrote the Hypable article definitely talked about a "heartfelt" moment between Oliver and Laurel in the first ep. I can't remember what else he wrote about her, but I remember that one because if he thought that was heartfelt...yikes.

Oh yeah, that's kind of what I meant. That Laurel (assuming she's the one who's stuck there and doesn't know why, since Dinah has a home and seemingly a bar) would be driving the decisions because she's trying to figure it out/get back to wherever she's supposed to be. Wouldn't they all be aware of what could happen to Star City in a couple of years if they have their pre-Crisis memories? Although I guess that would just be Mia since technically Old Dinah and Old Laurel wouldn't have gotten there yet.

I've read so much stuff about this episode over the past couple of days that I can't remember where I saw this but I could've sworn I saw a write-up where the reviewer mentioned that it was unclear why one of the characters was in 2040 Star City and that they thought that mystery might span the first season if it gets picked up - but maybe I'm misremembering. Since Mia and Dinah have places to live (and I guess Dinah owns that stupid fish bar) maybe Laurel is the one they can't figure out why she's there (which...lol) - since it doesn't seem like she has an established place to live.

Maybe the new earth’s Star City just happened to be less of a garbage can for exactly as long as it took Mia to get to the age where she could suit up.

They’re trying to spin off a show that can barely get a million viewers anymore. TPTB can’t possibly care about ratings.
