Maks dressed up as a dwarf could make this whole season worthwhile! ?

I think there are people who watch for the pros --- some of them (Val, for instance) have huge fan bases. But I don't think Maks is one of the pros people watch for anymore. The majority of his current fan base seems to consist of Peta's fans who tolerate him because he married their queen.

They're also trying to sell Maks and Peta as this great love story and I don't know that anyone but her fans are buying it. LOL I'm saying his interactions with her looked phony to me. Of course that may be biased by several of the tabloids having photos this past week of what appeared to be them arguing.

Yet Maks and Peta aren't even their first competing spouses. The show seems to forget all about Edyta/Alec and Anna/Jonathan, who competed against each other for a number of seasons.

I noticed that too. I also noticed that while he (or his PR team) put together a gushy Instagram post today with pictures of the two of them performing, Vanessa's post a few hours earlier was a picture of just her.

Vanessa also recently hosted another juniors reality show.

I much preferred it when it was tell a story through your dance. Somehow that morphed into tell a personal story through your dance and then tell us about your most memorable year through your dance. I liked story week but when it started to become personal (around Season 11 or 12, I think) it got annoying. I think if anything Maks was/is expecting to be head judge, not a host.

Erin always picks one female each season to gush over. If she can't find one she likes, she falls back on Peta and Sharna. I've read she's a total diva that's ticked off the whole cast and crew.

That would be enough to make me stop watching the show permanently. I read somewhere that they were considering her for the co-hosting job on DWTS Jr, not Erin's job, but she probably lost it with all that went on last week.

Well, I think their whole relationship is phony but in this case he didn't just affect himself with his temper tantrum. She's dancing with his partner's husband and even if the two of them are staying out of it, it has to make things awkward for and around them.

In their red carpet interview after the show, Maks didn't even talk about her dance...just how beautiful the whole night was. It didn't look like he had much interaction with Vanessa or Peta that wasn't forced/phony.

Bummed that Derek went home. I thought Nick should have gone before him. He looks like a water buffalo when he dances. I liked Lindsey, Jordan, Frankie and TO. Really enjoyed Emma and Drew and his brother with such a peppy little number. Maks could not be any less enthused to be there and it was even more painful to watch him in that black see through blouse. Why is Erin even there? She only did two or three interviews tonight because Tom was doing them all down at the judges table. Which, frankly, annoyed me. I love Tom, but I find it monotonous when he keeps talking to them down there. Erin may not be the greatest host in the world but she does lighten things up and at least gives a change of scenery and tone, which I think was needed on such a somber night.

I don't think Peta has that kind of influence over him.....or any influence at all.

Can anyone else just picture the producers hands guiding Maks's over his phone as he gritted his teeth and typed out that tweet today? ? Amazing how quickly People, US Weekly and the others were right on top of that tweet with a story. They didn't waste any time after the tip off that it was coming.

I was shocked Alfonso wasn't up in the sky box for the interview with Erin like they did with Erkel a few seasons back. Your mistake is in thinking Maks cares about anyone but himself.

Not only that, but his edited post today about Alan stepping in did not mention Vanessa at all. Nor did either of his posts say she did a great job and encourage people to vote for them.

The family owns the chain of dance studios so it would affect the rest of them. This is all now getting Maks just what he wants...attention and publicity. He craves that.

Yes. While everyone was so excited about a seemingly good cast with no real front runner, I find this season to be very boring. I'm thrilled that Mark and Cheryl are back but while I like Lindsey, Jordan and Derek, none of the cast really excites me.....unlike in previous seasons where in the first week or two someone would really catch my eye and make me root hard for them.

I don't think Vanessa is a big enough star to make demands like that. I can see that it got so ugly in rehearsals that TPTB told Maks to take the rest of the week off. So much for the softer, gentler Maks that getting married and having a baby supposedly brought out. I personally think it's more than just the show/Vanessa that Maks is not happy with. Yes he has the kid he's always wanted but at what price?

Maks was chowing down with Val, Peta, Jenna and his parents last night after the show so I don't think there was any family emergency or anything to do with Vegas. Personally I believe the People article, or something very similar. It's been clear to me from the start that Maks doesn't have much use for Vanessa or the whole married couple thing. I'm with you that she wanted to do the show and the show used that to get Nick on as well. They'd probably been trying to get him for years. I don't know too much about her either other than she used to date Derek Jeter and Orlando Bloom.

If there's any truth to the People article then it must be really bad because he didn't even walk out on Hope Solo and we all know how bad that one was. I've always said Maks is fine when he likes his partner, thus his great seasons with Mel B, Erin, Kirstie and Meryl. The problem lately is that he can gush all he wants but it's been pretty obvious he didn't have much use for Amber, Heather or Vanessa.

I agree with this but it's kind of funny when you think about the fact that Maks was the first one to do contemporary on the show.

Vanessa spent at least half the dance dancing without a partner while Alan played various supporting roles. That was all Maks. And I'm betting his "personal issue" was a hissy fit over his inability to do jazz. Ugh, they butchered both of those songs something awful! They're definitely pimping her for some reason and I'm not sure why because Maks couldn't be any more checked out this season and doesn't deserve the mirrorball. Also, because I was so critical of her last week, I have to say Erin looked great tonight. But why is she only doing about 1/3 of the interviews after the judges comments? I can see it in the first week when they're pressed for time but it's really getting noticeable. If time is still an issue, they should just do all the interviews in the red room and not waste time going up all those stairs. Or, better yet, how about if the couple that just danced goes over to her and starts the interview rather than high fiving, hugging and kissing everyone in the sky box? That's always driven me crazy.
