I was happy for someone to finally say how they manage to deal with visa, citizenship, etc. Most European countries have rules for how long you can stay on a tourist visa, and it's never mentioned!

RuPaul's Drag Race?
Her makeup isn't good enough. I have a friend who competed...it's not just slapping foundation and false lashes on. :)

Even with Tyler’s cheese sauce recipe, that mac and cheese looks revolting. They just ladle the cheese sauce on top of the macaroni. Ugh. I’m done with this show, the remaining two teams haven’t made one thing I’d eat.

Another show where I wish the longhaired contestants would tie back their hair! My mother would have been horrified.

Austin to Spain
When the husband listed his rules for housekeeping (an efficient way to load the dishwasher?!) I thought better her than me!

I have never heard of them being used as a bread substitute in a sandwich and really wonder about the consistency, because they are not firm enough to hold ingredients inside.
I’ve had a taco in a Cuban restaurant that used fried plantains as the shell. Delicious!

It wasn’t so much the dark color, but the fact that it was a truly ugly green.

I think the mud flat was a salt marsh…so most of the day it would actually be pretty. I think they picked the house that suited them best.

So if you rent that place are you responsible for feeding the chickens?
Also, did they put central AC in? I saw that the portable AC unit in the main bedroom was gone.

I hated the hood in the first kitchen. It looked like a tongue hanging out of that stone arch. The banquette seemed like a good idea, but the execution was terrible.

What was the name of the Canadian dish that Capt. Glen was raving about in the mess? Something about gravy, curds and chips (French Fries)? Looked really good
Probably poutine. It is good!

I didn’t know that they sold that much Botox in Canada.

Another bad kitchen…at first I liked it, but then I saw the overhang on the island. If you put stools there, you’d be hit every time someone opened the refrigerator door. How are they so bad at this? The Seattle housing market must be even more competitive than Boston.

I thought this was a great re-introduction to the show. Konnor did a good job, it was right to let the Russian go, and Maci’s story and dance were really moving. I was wiping away tears.

Those guests were so horrible…Dr. Nipples puking, Dino the mortgage branch manager being such a d-bag, and Dr. Nipple’s husband just a clueless jerk. What a waste of $60K.

I kind of love that she’s using the BCH background with the Make Way for Ducklings statues. I hope that they’re happy here!

I didn’t understand having the family bath all the way across the house…they kept calling it a guest bath, but it was the only bath aside from the en-suite.

She also claims she’s “Harvard trained”…ummm, you’re not Harvard trained unless you did your residency at a Harvard hospital. Harvard undergrad doesn’t count.

Well their featured dish for dinner was pigeon. Still didn't try it. I understand it was a good way to improvise and get proteins but it's not the Middle Ages any more and it's not my tradition.
I have Italian friends who rave about horsemeat. They've eaten it in front of me, even (horse risotto). They just don't see why I won't try it. There is just absolutely no way. I'm guessing pigeon/dove would be kind of like quail? Tried that, not my thing.

Haven't even tried porchetta, though I've been to Italy many times.
In Padua there’s a restaurant on the main square that has porchetta sandwiches to die for. It’s all they make, and they make them perfectly!

I *hated* that black tub crammed into the corner. Tubs like that are supposed to be a sculptural element, and you lost all of that impact. And the bed in the bedroom crammed into the corner too. I think I only watch this show as a "what not to do" object lesson.

Can you imagine going to Dr. Nichol’s practice with the vision of her in the nipple baring suit in your mind? I wouldn’t care how good an injector she is, that was just classless.

Then they say their budget is $350k. Gold Coast does have a CBD type of area, with high rise buildings.
I read CBD as pot, and imagined a bunch of surfers getting high.

I think they bought the house for $250,000 so $435,000 (plus the rental income over the past 11 years) seems like a good deal to me?
Do the twins pay to have all the holes from hanging the typewriters on the wall fixed?

The Great American Recipe - General Discussion
in The Great American Recipe
I wonder how much of Sylvia’s hair has ended up in the food?
