Right and also going: "I'm so done with acting!"
-
It's extremely common, many actors have kicked themselves thinking: "Well, my character won't last." Or they get offer in a spin off and it's: "Well, it probably won't be successful." I remember the great Michele Forbes who turned down a staring role on Star Deep Space 9, which was to be basically what Kira's role was for Nana Vistar. She thought the Star Trek piece would end after TNG was going to end. So she went on Homicide in 96 and of course stayed with it until 2000. Of course Deep Space 9 went on to 2001 and was a top rated series from the get go. She even said in a past interview: "I really should have thought it through more and I didn't like how my character ended on Next Generation. Because it felt like all the character work was thrown out." People make those decisions. Even Shelly Long kicked herself for leaving Cheers.

S04.E11: One Step Forward, Three Steps Back

Right, it's just like when you have characters just magically start doing something again, which they moved way pass because someone on the staff went: "remember when this was the norm, let's bring it back because I SAY SO, instead of just addressing we've moved on." It was like on the prom episode of the last season of The Middle. Where they had a reunion with Brick's various "friends" from 6 years before and they all "magically" just outgrew their ticks and problems. Basically saying: "Well, I'm 17/18 now and attractive, I've just moved on being odd like that." Nope, doesn't work that way. -

The whole point of the series was they moved to West port because of Anna-Kat's OCD. Then last year, they pretty much dropped any hints of it. With the occasional hints, but never focused on it. However, OCD, like ADHD doesn't just magically go away. Yes, bodies change and brain chemistry changes, but it's still there. Maybe just not as much, my son has ADHD and is on the autism spectrum. Extremely intelligent, but his hyper activity can drive the mrs and I crazy at times because all of a sudden, he just can't sit still. Then you get days where he is acting like the typical 9 year old. It's gotten much better in the last couple of years because of aging and focusing on boy scouts and bike riding where he then acts beyond his age because he has put out the extra energy. I get tired of shows acting like something like this is like the common cold or they ignore it completely and go: "We don't want to label the characters". I have an idea, how about you go to a REAL doctor or Occupational Therapist and take notes. -
I agree, why I also get tired of reality shows that stay on way past their due date. At one point, you have seen the stories and all the "added drama". Here with LMS standing, the stories were pretty much finished and even with Amanda Fuller's real life pregnancy, they don't even focus on the one person this would really effect, which is Boyd. Oh no, even after casting kid actor #3, who can actually act. They don't even deal with their reaction to everything, similar to how they just flicked Ben off after Rachel and Ross had Emma on Friends. Instead they focus on a character no one enjoys or wants on the show, and nothing against the actress, and I get it's a paycheck, but I hope she takes the deal for the upcoming Shange Chi: And the Ten Rings movie and makes a run for it.

Not to mention, sitting down with Anna-Kat and just trying to figure something out where they can give her that time she wants, but doesn't feel like they are uplifting everything into their needs. Something TV and even society want to focus on with the: "If you really care you will do this for your kids." You know constantly yelling at teachers or employers that they can't care to give criticism or a bad grade to their kid. When said kid doesn't want to do the work or feels it's beneath them. Or go the other way and be: "Oh get over yourself, we have busy lives, you'll understand someday." There is no happy middle or trying to find ways to do things. It's one extreme or the other. Even worst when you play it for laughs and you just go: "If that was real, you be dead or in prison." -
Right, even it the end, it felt that Carter still got a middle finger to his life. That everything he did, everything he tried to do, everything he rose above it. The only thing that would have saved that scene was when Kem walked away and Carter was watching her, if he would have said in a soft voice: "Goodbye". Which would have been Carter realizing he is done, time to divorce and go live his life and hope that someday Kem would move on too. The story also was back handed with the doctor who told them both they needed to say goodbye to Joshia or it was going to haunt them. Sadly, it backfired because Kem's biggest problem was; "It's always about me."

The main problem was the show runners said that she was to "replace" Eve, but be Vanessa's version of Eve. It not only doesn't work, you can't make the SAME character and then say, well, they AREN'T the same. I remember at one point where they had Kristin and NuMandy jealous of her. Why? They basically ignored their mother, in fact half the time it seemed all 3 girls wanted to piss off Vanessa for no apparent reason and think less of her. So, now they are jealous because someone actually sees and respects her? You can't have it both ways.

That's what ever made sense. I mean there is keeping secrets from family members, because they feel it might be damaging, but Bud's ex wife couldn't even tell him: "It was my brother too." Instead it made it sound like it was some average employee who pissed Bud off. Even more, Bud couldn't have said: "He has two choices. Prison or go some place else where he will WISH he was in jail." I mean you might love your sibling, but I mean they are stealing money from you and that is in turn stopping you from paying your: bills, mortgage, car, trips, ect." Same goes for this apparent "Board of Directors" at Bineford that could fire Morgan at any given time. Or these people that made Tim look like a an academic scholar. Tim had his problems with More Power or not thinking things through. But... he knew what made good TV, projects, travel, cars, tool recommendations, ect. Yet, the people running Tool Time acted like they ran some private website and couldn't tell the sky from a hole in the ground.

I agree, at least with Mark's send off and death it felt like full circle for the character. Or even with Peter, it felt more intune with the character, even years later where he ended up. With Carter, I felt it was just a horrible send off and then when he was back it was: "Oh remember, how much you hated Kem, let's show she still hasn't moved on in her life and Carter and her are still in a depressing marriage." Why? Couldn't just have it where Carter found a way to move on in life and despite his tragedies in life, he found a way to move on? Yet, Kem it was: "Oh her mother died, her son died, and she is all wo is me still." Losing a child is something no one TRULY gets over. However, at one point you have to live your life and not let it DEFINE your life.

Right, they dumped the assistant for a reason. The story was horrible, the actor wasn't funny, he played the character as someone who would have been sent to prison. now, here they go again? Just stop writers? It's not funny and who ever thinks is a great idea, needs to be fired. Go work on your own show on your "wacky character" and see how long that lasts. -
I know, I mean this was a pretty decent episode. Where have these writers been hiding? Of course at the same time, it just proves that Manny's character is just useless. They've written him to the point he is just fumbling through life and starting to see his idosyconses and his odd obsessions are just very wrong or bad. It was cute when he was 12-14, however now at almost 22, he is the guy that would say something and someone would beat him in the street and leave him for dead.
-
Not only that, but what everyone was using the code for. I get Jay and as for both Mitch and Cam, how self absorbed they are. As for what hell you want to talk about Manny and Luke. Especially Luke, where the hell this: "I want woman who are over 35." coming from? A few episodes ago, Luke wanted Manny's ex who is THERE AGE! The show is just so, so bad, I really am glad the final episode is in April so we aren't strung along until May.

Housewifely Media: Clips, Previews, Reviews and Articles

I guess ABC finally got it is a show worth keeping around. People actually watch it no matter where it goes. Moving it to Friday wasn't the smartest move and since Modern Family is finally going away and early it looks like since it's having such an early wrap up. They will keep it around, especially since Fresh off the Boat is also ending probably around the same time and has been confirmed to end after they are done with the season. ABC got a clue. -
Here is the problem, you get people and critics who pretty much say who the weakest link of a show like this is. I get they have contracts they have to honor, but I'm sorry. Then cut the characters that JUST AREN'T WORKING! The show has plenty to focus on and maybe if they stop keeping Jay Leno around or just play up the "new" business they want him to be in, then focus on that. It's not like Jay Leno doesn't have an audience while with Cousin Oliver, they tried to make her Vanessa's Eve and it doesn't work and they've had a year to show that. Not like they can't get Eve (Molly) back from time to time, so just move on with it.

I recently was reliving my teenage viewing the series. I was finishing high school when the series was on. My friends and I talked about it on a regular basis. We loved the series, especially when we were talk about the Shakespear pieces they did with the World Tour.
-
No kidding and then you add in that Ryan and Kristen are going to have kid #2, based on Amanda Fuller's real life pregnancy. Though good for her after all the problems she had to deal with. But they basically tried to make Vanessa's version of Eve and now the show seems to want to put Mike into Car trading and Kyle to seminary now with NuMandy jealous Kristen is having a baby and her and Kyle now apparently having problems. The show wants to be another show with the same characters now.

4th episode last October. They even admit that it's after Christmas, so that means she has been living with the Baxters almost a year and a half. Which, you can't do unless you are in college on a student Visa. They hammered it that Fez (Cousin Oliver 2.0) was a "senior in high school". Yeah, it's shown that it's way pass it's prime and needs to end. They keep trying to recreate the show and add in as many characters as they can. Most shows go: "We have a budget, we can't pay that many people."
-
How she is still there doesn't many sense either. You can't just STAY as an exchange student in this day and age. You meet your requirements for the school year and then leave back to your own country. I also find that interesting that Mandy who was: "I'm not ready to be a mom" last season. Now is all jealous of Ryan and Kristin having kid #2 because now she is having "problems". Jay Leno still adds nothing to the show and now they are really trying to turn it into Home Improvement #2 with the car shop. The only person who has any type of natural progression is Kyle. Him wanting to go into the ministry isn't out of nowhere, that's been a part of him since the show first aired. He was always more about his religion and beliefs, it was Ryan who is all: "I grew up in a rich family and how can I believe in God?'

My parents loved the show from day 1 and I had to watch it with them along with my grandparents who passed away just before 92. Good memories.

News Radio was a hilarious show, I caught off and on when it originally aired. I'm surprised how young everyone was back then. It's up to Phil Hartman's death that really did damage the show. Yes, it was on a downslide by his death, but you could see they were trying to get John Lovitz character up and going and sadly didn't find the footing until the end of the series.
-
Right and Jackie's problem is, she is trying to "recapture" her past to where she isn't miserable. For someone who was up until this year a "life coach". She should know she is both depressed and dealing with issues she doesn't WANT to face. Especially when we saw her acting with the Christmas Card. It isn't a question of "when" she wants to move on. More on "if" she CAN move on.
-
The restaurant idea was a good plan for Kristin considering they started her at the diner. Then had her leave with Jonathan Taylor Thomas's character eatery, since Kristin found out her boss was just lying to her all these years to keep from paying her more. However, they show wanted Kristin and Ryan back together because you know "it's a big happy family then" with wacky hijacks from Ryan and Mike fighting and Vanessa going: "But he's our grandson's father." crap. On that thought, since the show returns in a few weeks, so they are writing in Amanda Fuller's real life pregnancy. Will this go well? Will Boyd be jealous of his new sibling. Will Vanessa be creating the "new nursery" because she wants kids back in the house? Will Ryan and Kristin feel they can raise a kid together "right" this time? Or should the show burn off and finally end?

There was also the apparent "love of Texas" Jill's family had. From all the talk about "moving 8 times" growing up and everything. There seem to be this "love of Texas" and yes, Jill's mother was from there as by the actress's natural accent, but why? Was that were Fred and Lillian first started and once the girls were all grown and out, the Colonial Patterson could finally get his choice of where to retire? It's never brought up. Hell, we don't even know where and why they ever got together. Then again, we don't know how Tim's parents every truly got together. I mean the writers and producers at one point got it in their head that Jill was suppose to be like her father and hate everything their spouse did, as we learned from Lillian after Fred died. Then why the hell were they married for so long? It wasn't the kids, it wasn't about being "traditional". The way they told the stories right up to the one Christmas Episode, they were constantly arguing over the years and it had gotten a lot worst because Fred retired and apparently Lillian was a home maker. Now, it was the classic: "They see each other all the time and the kids are gone." It even goes back to Bud, here is a guy who has made good business decisions, worked hard to make his business. Then he makes big promises or does impulsive decisions that don't work or NEVER work. Yet, he is suppose to be this "all knowing man of business". There just comes a point, you have to 'explain' why things are that way instead of: "Well, we WANT it that way."

Right and there was nothing wrong with Mark later learning he had a passion for filming and video, but... Mark was involved in a lot of great things. The flying lessons would have been great, but it was just dropped because the writers wanted Mark to be "more different" until they got bored and had no idea what to do with Goth Mark. I felt they kept Brad and Randy consistent as the show went on. I get that things change over the course of 8 seasons, but there were times you could tell they were making it up as they went.
