Eeeeeek...whose name just so happens to rhyme with that same one-cent American coin!
-
I'm with you on that score! She's vile.

I think the poster was referring to a former contestant whose name is the same as a one-cent American coin. Nothing wrong with Palak.

Lost In Transition - General Discussion

I honestly think Leslie's hair holds her back from looking more like she wants to look. Maybe a wig would help? Because $28K for facial feminization surgery seems outside of her and Stacy's budget. Speaking of Stacy, what a sweetheart she is!! Leslie is so lucky to have her. -
Manny is over the top, personality-wise. A little of him is going to be plenty. Mr. Burger-and-Fries Jacket figured that a colorful jacket would take him into Jason Smith territory, but nope.

Info on Jacob's condition The above was from February. Poor kid was and is still in bad shape! Apparently he was given only a 5% chance of survival when he was first brought in. Also, isn't his mother a critical care nurse or something? Because she'd be a lot better choice to care for him than David and Annie. April update on Jacob Poor Jacob!

Going on appearances alone, Annie might want to lower her expectations. She might well be a lovely person, but she is not exactly arm candy. I also realize there is only so much hustle she can put forth without her green card, but she can cook, read, take some online courses (there are free or cheap ones out there on a variety of things), go out walking around the city and try to make some friends...

I know for a fact that it is extremely difficult to prove your child is unfit to raise his/her own child(ren). My child is estranged from his entire family, and we can't even get visitation, despite criminal activity and far too many other issues to list here. Nicole doesn't seem like a very good mother to me...oh, who am I kidding, she seems like a crappy mother...but nothing she is doing is reason enough for authorities to remove Mae from her care. From what I understand, the doctors didn't want to remove the bullet from Jacob's face until the swelling went down. I know that plenty of people are walking around with bullets or shrapnel in them, so it's not going to kill him for them to wait a bit, and I know there are lots of nerve endings there that could be nicked or damaged during surgery, causing facial paralysis and other problems...and that's with surgery done under optimal conditions! Poor Jacob, though...he looks so miserable!! I think Annie is mostly annoying and has a pretty inflated opinion of herself (and she is one hard-looking 25 year old...I'd have guessed 35!), but I thought she was very reassuring to David and her prayer bracelet for Jacob was sweet.

Lost In Transition - General Discussion

This show has the potential to be so much more than it is. I understand that it's TLC, but still... Whoever "transformed" Troy into Lucy? I hope she wasn't paid for that!! Lucy's body type is very obviously top heavy and muscular, and putting her into a snug little sweater dress was never going to look good. Actually, aside from a wig and some eyelashes, Troy and Lucy looked exactly the same. Leslie needs some help with that hair. But if she did her own makeup, her skills are not bad! I like Lawren. I like Jennifer. But they make me sad. And Karen, if you're going to pay for hair...pony up for something with a little style! I liked Beverly much better this week, but she's going to complain about her spouse telling the real estate agent that she's (Karen) transgender, when she just told a bar full of strangers the same thing?? Miss Fame should be the transformation consultant for the show...I bet she could even make Lucy look good! -

Yes!! When her friend asked that question, I melted. It's a response of tolerance and acceptance and support. Leslie now has at least one person outside of Stacy who will have her back, and I'm glad for that...because I think she is going to need all the help she can get. Not a big Beverly fan so far. She acts willfully ignorant, and she sure talked a lot of personal stuff to a large group of people she seems to have just met. She's not really considering how her behavior could impact the safety of her family. -
Maybe we could get a group rate and work out a carpool??

Lost In Transition - General Discussion

My heart goes out to both Lawren and Leslie, and Jennifer and Stacy have got to be two of the most loving, tolerant people alive. I fear that Lawren's too emotionally fragile to be doing this show right now, and I hope it doesn't backfire on her. And Leslie, wow...it just seems like her job situation and financial problems are only going to get worse, after the way she was treated at work. As I mentioned, I have a FtM trans person in my family, and his partner (a woman) was completely, immediately accepting of the issue. (At least, by all accounts.). That may have been because his partner was bisexual...or I guess, actually pansexual...to begin with, or maybe she is just as tolerant and loving as Jennifer and Stacy seem to be. I don't judge Cindy for not wanting to remain with Troy if he chooses to transition and live as Lucy, but at the same time, I feel nothing but respect and admiration for Stacy and Jennifer for loving their partners in spite of their biology. But yes...sad all around. I watch because a) I'm easily hooked and b) it's an interesting, current topic. But it hurts to watch, because I worry that there won't be any one of these participants happy after it's all said and done. -

I was very interested in this, having a FTM transgender person within my extended family. I wish there had been both FTM and MTF people represented, and yes, a variety of ages, but so far I am watching. My heart breaks for Leslie, coming out to his coworker in what looks to be a redneck-type bar. I can't imagine how difficult that has to be for her...indeed, I can't imagine how strong you have to be to endure any of this! Stacy seems like a perfect partner, though. -
Well, I'm going to put my two cents in and say I don't find Sharna sleazy or untalented. I think she's sexy as hell, very beautiful, and mad talented. I loved her partnership with Josh, and especially her partnership with James Hinchcliff. I don't think she and Adam would've made a great pairing, though, because although Adam is a fine performer, he's not a good enough actor to have that smoldering, "are they or aren't they?" connection with Sharna. I didn't mind him with Jenna (although I wasn't crazy about that freestyle), but I think he'd have been adorable with Witney or Lindsay, too.

I cross stitch, and when I saw what John wanted them to stitch, I knew it wasn't possible. Stitching on fabric, it would have been barely possible, but on pegboard? Nope. i want the light fixture in Genevieve's room!

I like Aquaria...I like all of the remaining queens, really. I have a friend who performed with Aquaria quite recently, and I was told she's a bit shy but very sweet to work with.

S09.E06: Pizza Boards & Industrial Doors

The throw pillows would be great for kids to lounge on the floor with, so I'd keep them...but maybe pile them in a basket over in a corner? I agree, there were so many small changes you could make to that room to make it work for a couple with small children...the problem was, this couple was pretty inflexible and set on their own, hideous style. -

I went back to look at Laurie's room again, and I honestly still can't see why they disliked it as much as they did. I would have removed the sliding mirror over the pass through, and I'm still not a huge fan of the TV enclosure thing. I'd also ditch the leopard print chairs because they made the room feel overstuffed to me. But the wall color was gorgeous (loved that it was a greenish grey) and I want that drapery fabric in my home. It was a pretty room! I don't understand the reasoning that every room in your home needs to be decorated around the children. They have their own rooms, probably a playroom in a home like that, and outdoors, too. Why do they need to be able to race cars through the dining room or run races through the living room? (And for the record, I have kids, and grandkids, AND teach preschool.) I may be an old fuddy-duddy, but why not teach the kids how to behave in a civilized way? -
S09.E06: Pizza Boards & Industrial Doors

I thought both rooms were beautiful, but the couple who got Laurie's living room really hated it, didn't they? I'm not personally a fan of the sliding door idea for that room, but the colors and fabrics were just so pretty. And honestly, that ugly olive green that was on the walls before, paired with bulky, oversized black leather couches?? The homeowners clearly had style issues. The sliding doors would have gone great in Sabrina's room, to block the view from that lovely dining room into the playroom next to it. Maybe when the blue couple inevitably tear them out of the living room, they can pass them on to the red couple. -
Kameron had so many talking heads I was almost certain she was going home. Glad she won instead; I think she's an interesting queen. The Vixen really showed her ass all season long, then leaves the workroom in tears. Too little too late, and I'm guessing some of the other girls felt the same...I only saw a few letters, not enough to have gotten one from each of the other queens. Asia has become quite the complainer, hasn't she? If some of the other girls chose to (correctly, as it turned out) interpret "glitter" as sparkle of any kind, including sequins, rhinestones, and crystals, there was nothing to stop her from doing the same. There was a chance the judges wanted the sparkle they got, and an equal chance they wanted strictly glitter and would have dinged the queens in any other kind of sparkle. That's a chance they chose to take, and it worked for them. Sorry, but you could have done the same. And anyway, they LIKED her glitter look, it's just that her Cher was pretty abysmal. I still love the quirky Miss Cracker. I don't think she's going to win this season, but I hope she at least makes the finale.

S09.E05: Stripes and a Stripper Pole
CraftyHazel replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Trading Spaces [V]
I hated everything in Hildi's room except for the pillows. On the other hand, I loved Clinton's room for a basement party room. I'd have lost the stripper pole and the stupid artwork, but I loved the bright orange bar stools with the cool blues. -

I loved Vern's room!! The photos with the silver leaf behind them, the bed and especially the bedding (I love birds!), and even the big, white globe lights...although I think those would have been better in a more natural, jute-like color. I did not like the hardware on the dresser (wish it had been smaller and more subdued, color wise), and I think the tables over the chest were too modern and too tall. Aside from that, I liked it all. Gen's room was also great, but I think the alcove is still a wasted space. I do love my needlework and my books, so if I had a room like that I'd want that space for those things...not an uncomfortable looking bench and a handful of pillows. But since she was already over budget, I suppose she didn't have money for anything like that. -

Ty and Carter both did really lovely, polished rooms...wow, that was nice. I was nervous for the homeowners to see Ty's room, because it wasn't what they wanted but it was actually very well done. I didn't want them to hate it and ruin Ty's experience. (I really don't believe they liked it, but they didn't react badly.) It was cool to see what ever became of ANTM Cycle 6's Joanie!- 90 replies
