  1. same. I hope showrunners have some lackeys reading these pages and some of this gets back to them somehow.
  2. I'm glad they closed the case but wow that was dark. Can we please have some more stolen racehorses that end up back in their nice cozy barns? That's my kind of COTW I know they can't all be like that but yikes.
  3. I guess I AM the foodie they're writing for. I was literally fangirl squealing when TK showed up! And I absolutely loved all the chefs talking. I loved this episode mostly for this. Yes I've seen these stories on the cooking competition shows too but somehow here it actually seemed more authentic. They are not actually the focus of the show they can just relax and tell their stories. I loved every minute of it.
  4. I noticed too! I couldn't figure out what exactly was different about his face, but it seemed smoother and fresher to me. I thought maybe he shaved differently than usual. Did not notice but thank you both for calling attention to this in a man! Even if it was just to say he looked good.
  5. But try the grey stuff, it's delicious!
  6. Thank you so much for reminding me of Bonanza! A show I actually watched! My crush was actually Adam, but he was in so few I almost had to switch to Little Joe.
  7. Seems every season there's a classically trained European who makes it almost to the end and doesn't quite get there. I knew though the minute they each said what they were making that Alex would go unless Nikki made some huge mistake. The one thought I had was maybe the meringue would be underdone given the time but no one commented on that. It looks similar to a dessert I make - Thomas Keller's meringues - that's a riff on a deconstructed pavlova very similar to Nikki's. That is my hands down favorite dessert I make.
  8. Finally we got to see some fashion, and some fashion insider / history. I don't know why I had expected more of that and less of the ... other stuff? I don't know. I certainly didn't expect all that stuff about Coco Chanel - whose story actually got more screen time? I did find Catherine's story fascinating and moving. Also fun was Glen Close playing her 'Devil Wears Prada' character's precursor. Note to showrunners - next time more of whatever the title of the show is about, and if you're going to make a show about a famous fashion person .. maybe show some fashion? Would have liked a lot more of what was in the last episode and / or showing more of the creative process.
  9. So much to rag on in this show... One thing I did like though was acknowledging the CA wildfires. They typically don't bring in a lot or real world problems (seriously these characters have enough problems!) so I thought it was good to bring that in.
  10. OK so someone upthread asked if there had ever been a black woman winner, and I believe someone replied correctly that there had only been one (Amber Riley). There have been three non-white female winners (Nicole Scherzinger, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Laurie Hernandez) who were not black. This all sent this retired statistician down a rabbit hole exploring the demographics of DWTS winners, and then including 2nd and 3rd place (this list is readily available on Wikipedia). Overall, the largest share of winners have been white women (39%). For winners only, the next largest share is black men (19%), followed by white men at 16%. For either gender, there have been 3 Asian winners and 3 Hispanic winners (10% each) and 1 (Jordan Fisher) of mixed race. Looking at the top 3 places combined, still 39% white women but now 28% white men for a total of 67% white. 18% black men and 5% black women for total of 24% black. This is not too far off of the overall US population (75% white, 13.6% black). Hispanics seem somewhat underrepresented (4% of top 3 but 19% of the population) as do Asians (3% vs. 6.3%). Take all this with a grain of salt - it's based on me looking at the list on Wikipedia and making some assumptions about race and ethnicity (and gender in a couple of cases - here I'm going with 'sex assigned at birth' which is what we were using in studies that I was working on when I retired this year). So if we used race and gender alone to predict the winner, bet on Ariana or Alyson. An Xochitl win would improve the Hispanic representation so that would be nice. Jason and Charity hard to say. Personally, I think I'd be fine with any of them although while I like Alyson she is not the best dancer in the group. Maybe I'll actually vote in the finals... Ask me your DWTS stats questions, apparently I have nothing better to do (or miss analyzing data more than I thought I would).
  11. Yes this was a James Taylor song. I recognized it immediately - I have this album (yes on vinyl) and listened to it practically every day for a while when I was in high school in the late 1970s - was it really that long ago? Yikes. Loved hearing this song again, and I thought Grimes did a good job with it. My only disappointment was why weren't Clare and Isaac dancing to it?
  12. I watched that! I think there were only a handful of episodes.
  13. I would watch that! How fun would that be to follow a matchmaker around? Different story every episode built in. And more Rose with the fabulous clothes!
  14. ON 12/20/2021 AT 12:10 AM, MISSL SAID: I really do enjoy the show but I’m completely confused by the mythology. Maybe because I don’t remember the first season that well? Who are the nilfgauard again? I have no idea wtf is going on probably 75% of the time, but I'm still watching! I can't keep the names straight, I can't tell who is good and who is not... The finger snappy fire guy, Ciri's dad, the bearded dude running with Yennifer all look like the same guy! Still watching! So much this! Never played the game or read the books, but we're watching anyway! I get help from this forum and on the Witcher Wiki they have recaps with links to different characters stories https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Witcher_Wiki. I go there when I'm feeling particularly confused.
  15. So does Demerzel not have the three laws? And if she does how did she poison almost-high-priestess lady? I suppose Foundation was written before the I Robot series but still. If you're going to just pull stuff willy nilly from various Asimov works should be consistent. That needed explanation. Glad there are only 2 episodes left. Hope it gets better next season.
