  1. Actually yes @shapeshifter Part D does have a deductible.  What I get is timolol 0.5 gfs, gel solution, 90 days worth.  I think there is a generic version out there but I am not sure what it is, I will have to ask the doctor.

@StatisticalOutlier I checked and my last wellness visit aka physical back in November was no charge to me.  As far as the supplement goes I've only had it since May 1, so it hasn't applied to all my claims but I will see what happens for the ones that haven't actually charged me yet.  There may be a deductible involved there also.

  2. Just one comment about the annual physical under Medicare.  The first time I had mine with my doctor, the office apparently didn't code it as a "wellness visit" which is what Medicare insists on calling it.  They tried to charge me over $500.  I notified the office and after some wrangling the fee was reduced to the very small "wellness" charge.

No problem since.  I do live in New York by the way, in regard to some of the other issues.

I've recently had a couple of xrays and an ultrasound to figure out why I was having a lot of pain in my left thigh and am being charged very little although whether Part G is helping there I'm not sure.  (The pain is much less since I've had a lot of PT fortunately.)

Drug costs are outrageous I agree.  I take eyedrops (timolil) and can't get anyone to fill it for less than $100 though I swear they used to be closer to $10.  Fortunately the little bottles last a very long time.

  3. I've watched only Season 8 Episode 1, tonight.   Enjoyable comeback episode.  I  have to say that the extended opening featuring the return of the  Oades boys had me thinking of Larry, Daryl and Daryl.  That said, I did like the way the story ultimately played out.  It was interesting without being too obvious although I strongly suspected the guilty party well ahead of time.

I miss Mrs. Marlowe as well!  I hope she will be returning.  I have to say though that I always love a scene with the dreaded attorney Dennis Buchanan, I just find him hilarious although he didn't have as many classic lines as in the past.

As far as the message on Mike's phone goes, I hope/think it's not from Gina.  He still seems awkward in her presence for good reason!

  4. Am I losing my mind or were McEnroe and Fowler praising Joker for handling "off the court" issues this year?

You mean refusing to get vaccinated against Covid like every other player, going out in public after testing positive, lying to trying to get into Australia after said refusal, that kind of thing?

How can they make statements like that with a straight face?  How is any of that not totally his doing?

By the way under current US law he will still not be eligible to play the US Open, are they going to try to make that not his fault as well?

Sorry for Sinner, but I do think the young players have a great disadvantage in the lack of experience in best of 5 matches.   Maybe the experience will come with time.

  5. Here's the BBC clip of the parade of champions event.

It was so great for me to see Borg, Edberg and Federer especially!  So many great memories.  It seemed odd to me at first that they started with one time champions, two time champions but then it made sense as it built up to Roger the 8 time champ. Sad that Martina the 9 time champ got Covid and couldn't make it.

It did seem so random to see Martina Hingis who was once so dominant next to Goran the ultimate out of nowhere champ.  Nice though to see Petra, Simona and Angie Kerber though only Simona's still in the event.  Of all the clips the most memorable was probably Jana Novatna crying on the Duchess' shoulder.  At least she came back to win in a later year.

Venus looked great!   Too bad she and Jamie Murray lost that close match in the mixed.

  6. @laredhead, if I remember correctly it was implied that they were former lovers.  Usually the best thing to do is to re-watch any scene with Mrs. Marlowe, she always seems to reveal the relevant gossip especially about past events.

Looking forward to seeing this show again!  Not all mysteries can combine humor with sympathetic characters as this one does.

  7. I didn't see the match but Bublik is certainly known for...shall we say uneven play to the max.   And he has admitted not loving tennis.  As far as I know underarm serves are not technically against the rules though.

I did see Alcarez again today and it's stunning how quickly he is adapting his game to grass.  I can see him someday turning into an absolutely dominant player without ever becoming boring.

  8. I like Iga a lot, but I would really love to see Petra Kvitova make the comeback by winning her third Wimbledon title.  After what she went through with the attack on her hand, it would be amazing.  She won a warmup event so I don't think it's out of the question.

Sad about Felix AA going out already.

Glad to see Alcarez is still in the event after the loss of so many promising players early on.  Carlos does bring the excitement.

  9. I just read about Berrettini - who had just won 2 straight warmup tournaments - and Cilic.  It is so unfortunate.   Both former finalists who had a serious chance to go far.

The important thing is that both of them apparently self reported their Covid cases.  It is being stated that both were in close contact with other players.

Will Wimbledon institute daily testing?  I think they should.

  10. Watching Season 2 of Capitaine Marleau on MHZ, there was an entertaining episode (Sang et lumière or Blood and Light) guest starring David Suchet as a retired Scotland Yard detective who offers to help Marleau when the journalist wife of a small town mayor goes missing.

Marleau seems to get reassigned to a different town in every episode!  I am not sure if this was ever explained in the beginning but I guess it keeps the variety in the scenery and the guest casts going.

I just saw an ad on Acorn that the new Brokenwood Mysteries series airs July 1. I think they go week to week on this show if I recall correctly (and I may not).

    Great news, thanks!

  12. I just miss seeing Inside the NBA after every game. It's just not the same :)

However I don't really have a favorite team these days so I'm all right with a seven game series.

Was it Iron Chef Japan who was replaced? I remember it being Iron Chef Chinese for some reason. The replacement may have been late in the show's run, but I remember Iron Chef Italian being even newer and seemed to have been added as an afterthought. Heck, I don't think he always came up on the risers with the the other three,  but if he did, he was chosen.

Yes, there were 3 Iron Chefs Japanese it turns out.

Iron Chef Italian was Masahiko Kobe.  I read that he sadly passed away after a fall at his restaurant.

Yes! I noticed that! I'm disappointed that they no longer use the original music and now use this tinny synth crap and they removed most of the post-verdict interviews.

Yes! That's the one! That woman was insane!

Iron Chef (Japan) is also streaming on Peacock if that's any help.  Most of the eps I have seen are pre-Morimoto.   I didn't  realize how late in the show's run he joined as Iron Chef Japan.

  15. I finished The Art of Crime on MHZ, at any rate the 5 seasons they are showing.  Apparently there is at least another season planned.  Those who can't stand "will they or won't they" may get turned off, but I enjoyed the episodes with their artist based themes overall (however the Egyptian episode was pretty weak to me, though it did somewhat address the story of Florence's mother).  The final episode of Season 5 was really excellent, involving a victim who left clues based on color codes corresponding to parts of paintings of Delacroix, and a young boy with an amazing memory.

I've gone on to Capitaine Marleau, an MHZ series also from France about an eccentric woman detective.   I've seen the first two episodes and they were good 90 minute stories with fine casts including some well known French stars.

  16. I wish TNT would run Inside the NBA during the finals even if they can't carry the games.

I'm going to miss Charles on this show so much whenever he retires.

  17. Thanks @dcalley for the link.  Not that I expect too much from Peacock, but I'm disappointed that their coverage is basically only weekends with little more than NBC.  But at least there's no chance of getting Chris Fowler this time with Mary Carillo and Johnny Mac!

  18. Speaking of one-season shows, I really enjoyed The Good Guys with Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks.   Whitford's senior agent was caught in his past "glory days" and there was entertaining use of music, one episode even using the Stones' version of "You Can't Always Get What You Want"! (which would never be allowed in syndication I suspect, if the show had lasted that long)

I see the show is on Prime, I still have one three episodes I purchased.

  19. I've also subscribed to the pay version of MHZ, and my new nightly show is The Art of Crime.  I really  enjoy having a show that deals with art every week, and I get to see how much of my high school French I can still remember.  I like all the characters/actors though my favorite is Florence's eccentric and cranky art-expert father.  I hope they keep finding reasons to keep him around.

The stories have been decent I think in that I don't generally guess what's going to happen ahead of time.  I have to say though that the first 2-parter of Season 2 with its subplot with the beautiful, compulsive thief - felt at one point like something out of Leverage.   She even was blonde like Parker!
