Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
BlueSkies replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
I hear this from time to time: Why does our culture highlight celebrities so much versus people whose livelihood is finding cures for diseases. Here's the thing: Someone in middle school who really gave me like a hard time at summer camp once to the point of crying when I got home...... this person is now you guessed it a doctor who actually works curing diseases as his livelihood. Now I mean this was a long time ago so this person might have changed since when I knew him. Still: my perception of him from my brief experience is very negative and no cures will make me think otherwise. Unless of course I do cross his path one day again. Moral of the story: just because someone has a very benevolent sounding job don't mean their necessarily a good person -
A Case Of The Mondays: Vent Your Work Spleen Here

There's a co worker of mine that always goes directly to me asking abrupt questions whenever this person is confused. Like I know or have all the answers When the reality is I so want to tell this person, I pretty much feel like I'm winging it more often than not...... probably more than you do You used to sound like really stressed dealing with customers all day. And btw not that I blame you. That sounded pretty draining. I mean this is actually worse now? -

never really a fan but this one was good

Grand Canyon 1991. Well the movie actually had some pretty good reviews so I'm not sure it'd be considered mediocre even though I thought it was ll right. anyway there was a scene Danny Glover's character spoke of wanting to go to Grand Canyon because it dawns on him how sort of small and insignificant his problems would seem in the grand scheme of things. Very true and heartfelt. I even shed a tear thinking about watching that film with my dad many years ago now. The film was all right but that really sort of still stood out to me

FilmNight: Movies you watched recently

Dick Tracy 1990. Never watched it until recently. Not bad overall. Star studded cast and beautiful Madonna. Even then though Warren kinda gave off a little old vibes as superhero Dick Tracy. Al Pacino screamed like a lot. It wasn't bad though. 3 of 5 stars for me -
I definitely enjoyed the original..... I'm not too keen on a sequel series though. I have a memory of one in the late 90s

I like Cyndi Lauper for the most part but really don't like the song Time After Time. It just comes across as overly winey to me

Peeve: asking someone for help/empathy and really just being told there's other people that have more stress than you have. While that may not necessarily be wrong that sounds kind of like a passive aggressive way to not listen to a person. I think we all deserve to be heard out. -
Death to Smoochy was a real funny movie

The "HELL YEAH!" Movie Moments

The Wedding Planer. Like most Jennifer Lopez movies, beautiful woman, gives a pleasant enough performance. It didn't do well at the time with critics but it was all right. a solid 6 out of 10 stars. or 7 if I'm being generous I did enjoy though watching a film right before the cell phone/smart phone era took off. Yahoo got mentioned in the film so it wasn't like that old -
This song has been around longer than I thought

Perhaps its because I associate 90s dance music still largely with innocence for me but songs like this are still banging
