  1. We clearly see it differently. I chose to believe what those celebrities have said publicly. I found the post to be exploitative.
  2. Yes. There is another option that does require some work and vigilance when you are scrolling, Check the username on quoted posts before you read the content and if it someone you want to ignore hit the down arrow next to the quote heading and the quote will fold up. Send them thoughts & tariffs.
  3. I consider myself close with most of my family but it isn’t unusual to go two weeks without talking and we all live in the same city. Occasionally I worry, particularly if I don’t get a response to a text, but for the most part I assume I will hear if there is anything to hear. When my mom was sick, I know she would go that long without talking to my siblings at times. They didn’t worry because I was there. If something catastrophic happened, I could see it taking some time before anyone realized. But, when things got really bad we were in daily contact.
  4. Since one of their causes is to hate me, I’m good with it. - Sincerely, a non-white, woke, childless cat lady
  5. All I can find is a facebook post that says nothing about heavy drinking. And reading that post made my opinion of Paul Petersen take a nosedive. As far as I can tell, Michelle did not talk about her health other than to tell people to stop speculating. Even if he has inside information, for him to post it is wildly inappropriate and exploitative. I can’t imagine any of the people he named would appreciate his post. He also misspelled Michelle’s name.
  6. Wait, Trachtenberg had PTSD? It was reported that she recently had a liver transplant and it seems likely that was why her appearance had changed recently. There is no information available about the cause of her health issues or her cause of death. As for Ariana, I feel like “yes, and?” is her clearly saying she is over people commenting on her life. She talked about it last month during Oscar’s press and your recollection appears to be dead on. She describes it as something she dealt with in the past through extensive therapy.
  7. I understand the talk about what Democrats should or shouldn’t do but I honestly don’t think any of it matters. You can’t reach potential voters who aren’t paying attention and it’s impossible to effectively counteract the confirmation bias of those that are listening. We have reached the point that National elections are determined by reactionary voters who see everything they want slipping farther away and are just voting against whoever they currently blame.
  8. Absolutely. And becoming a sanctuary city does not increase crime. I swear people get some rapidly anti-immigrant that all reason and logic fly out the window. In the previous administration, the same people would be outraged that ICE wanted to deport an accused murder. That would be evidence of all America’s immigration failures.
  9. How is it preferable that he be deported rather than staying where he currently is, at Rikers being held without bail, so that he can stand trial for murder? I far more outraged that ICE wants to deport him where the victim’s family will always have to wonder if there were any consequences for his actions.
  10. I love Libby. As an FYI for anyone who uses or is thinking about using Libby, you can link multiple library cards to have more available loans, holds and a wider catalog available.
  11. Decades before? Trump hadn’t been cut off from Epstein for decades even if you go exclusively by his own account…just sayin… Epstein died in 2019 and in 2002 Trump told New York magazine that Epstein was a “terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” Clinton’s flights were in 2002 and 2003.
  12. Costa is the rep for part of the city I live in and I am not surprised. You have to lean conservative here to get elected. I actually thought he was a Republican. This reminded me of his others deceptions he used to justify his anti-trans decisions. With the volleyball story, no one actually knows if the injury was caused by the trans athlete. And when he told the story about a trans woman breaking a record against cis women, he left out that the race was co-ed and the previous record holder was a man. Fact-checking Trump's anti-transgender comments in his address to Congress Not only did he say it, there is not a whitehouse.gov page on it. Complete with phrasing like “The Fake News losers at CNN”. Based on the site, I am even more disturbed because it seems like all research into the sex hormones is in jeopardy.
  13. I’m sure I will never get a satisfying answer, but I truly wonder how Trump supporters have any level of happiness over the state of our economy. I don’t agree with it, but I can understand that some are happy to see social programs ended, mass deportation, certain groups losing rights and the end of perceived fraud. It represents a very fundamental difference in values from me but I can still understand the train of thought. But I can’t even fathom how anyone could look at what is happening to food costs, the housing market, energy costs, gasoline costs or the stock market and be happy. I can only imagine that it comes from not realizing what is happening but I know smart people who still believe that Trump is going to be good for the economy even as we are watching things get measurably worse everyday.
  14. Social security payments automatically end at 115. And before anyone claims that is an absolutely absurd age, the current oldest American is 114 years old and the oldest ever recorded was 119 years old. GN 02602.578 Termination of Entitlement for Title II Beneficiaries Who are Age 115 or Older Musk misreads Social Security data, millions of dead people not getting benefits, experts say I am far more concerned about the millions in revenue that is going to be lost from DOGE’s cuts than a small percentage of SS scammers. Like decimating Yosemite’s budget even though it brings in $10 or revenue for every $1 spent. I imagine that the numbers are even worse for Yellowstone.
  15. For all the completely valid anger directed at the Bezos and the Washington Post, it’s worth noting that the staff isn’t toeing the line drawn by Bezos. Their social media accounts are also very critical of Trump and Musk. And it was done by the same people who were outraged at the idea that democrats wanted to replace Scalia’s 9 months before the election. 🤬
  16. Heavily gerrymandered. The precinct map gives a more accurate picture.
  17. 🙄 Sure give the exemption to the automotive industry and not lumber, food or electricity. Really shows where the priority is.
  18. The one day total boycott was just the first planned step. Next is targeted week long boycotts through a July 4th boycott. Amazon is first up to be boycotted starting this Friday.
  19. I agree. I’m guessing we will find that it also comes from insecurity because the other two seem to have more in common. There is probably truth in all the barbs being thrown.
  20. As some who lives in a city that is the political inverse of Austin, TX, I found that incredibly believable. If anything living a liberal city of a a red state would make someone like Kate more entrenched in her conservatism since the opposite is everywhere. I think two faced is right. She’s an instigator who pretends to be concern to stir the pot and cut the other women down.
  21. There is local chatter that she will be stepping down at the end of her current term. AOC’s former chief of staff announced in Feb that he’s challenging Pelosi for the seat.
  22. Hey, now. He did sign an executive order saying they are going to look into expanding access and reducing the cost of IVF. There is a plan to form the concept of a plan. 🤨😏 Yes! I can get the cooked whole chicken for $6 or $7 ($5 if I feel like going to Costco). Even when I can buy a raw one for less, when you add in the time spent cooking and the energy costs, I’m not saving anything. The summers where I am have long stretches of 100+ degree days. Easy meals that don’t require the oven have nothing to do with laziness.
  23. NVM. Not worth it.
  24. I’m guessing you’re talking about the retroactive payments and higher monthly benefits that have been in the news for the last few days. That it the result of a law that was passed by the previous Congress with bipartisan support and signed into law by Biden before the end of his term. It has nothing to do with how SS will be impacting by Trump and Musk going forward.
  25. Since the House passed the Republican budget I have noticed a lot of Republicans thrilled that it would mean no taxes on tips or overtime. But that’s not in the budget and I couldn’t figure out why so many people seemed to think it was. Turns out it’s because Republican politicians are lying. Shocking, I know. Lauren Boebert Called Out Over Tax on Tips Comment: 'Didn't Even Read' Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Hit with Two Twitter Community Notes for False Claims on GOP Bill
