  1. Same. She also now is selling merch which I am tempted to buy.
  2. Now that Trump’s picks and policies are coming out there is already voter remorse. An immigration lawyer said she is dealing with a Trump voter who is now terrified that his daughter-in-law and grandchild will be deported and she warned him before hand. People are shocked to discover that Trump is appointing horrible people to positions of power, favors school vouchers, wants prayer in school and wants to get to of FAFSA. Google had a 400+% jump on people searching “how to change my vote” starting on Election Day. Plus the people shocked that family members are going no contact. “I never thought the leopards would eat MY face”
  3. Yep. It’s the whole reason “nice guy” and “friendzoning” are common terms. Plus, many men think that any woman that is nice to them, even service workers who are just doing their job, are into them and get pissed when they don’t want to actually date them.
  4. Yes, but far too often (almost exclusively) the onus is on women. Rather than teaching boys to not be unsafe, women are expected to fix the issue. It’s not just that those men are horrible catches, it’s that women can’t tell who is safe because too many men enable horrible acts by other men. The 4B movement in South Korea is an example. Most women who are following that can’t even admit it because doing so puts them in jeopardy. If things are going to change for men it needs to come from parents/older family member and other men. Most women are done doing the work.
  5. I feel like there is a real danger in terms like average American because we are dealing with four different generations of voting age where “average” is going to swing wildly. Millennials are the largest generation so they have to taken into consideration and they are a group that is going to offended by complaints about “woke” culture and hyperbole about pronouns. The balance is shifting every election cycle. I feel like older generations have taken the approach that they didn’t have to adjust too much because the younger generation is going to get more conservative with age but that’s not happening.
  6. Yeah. I have concerns. I have no problem believing Musk and Trump would cheat and pretty much every proven instance of voter fraud recently has been by Republicans. I’m sure it’s being looked into but there is no way Democratic leaders are going to publicly express that sentiment without rock solid evidence. Sadly, I could actually see that being a strategy for Trump and Musk to obscure any fraud. If Democrats raise suspicions they will look like hypocrites to many.
  7. I really think this was a key factor. Trump’s major economic policies weren’t passed until 2018 and then with COVID protections they didn’t start to impact average Americans until Biden was in office. Just like Biden’s economic policies passed in 2022 will be perceived of a result of Trump’s policies (assuming they aren’t repealed). Economic policies have a lag that skews perspective. It’s a phenomenon particularly prominent in one term presidents. What most people think was Trump’s economy was the after effects of Obama’s second term and COVID subsidies.
  8. So much is being made of the shift red across the board that I think it’s too early to draw any conclusions. Asians made up 4% of the vote in 2020 and that dropped to 3% this year. Hawaii, in particular, had the lowest voter turnout and the largest Asian population. Is the demo actually shifting red or did blue leaning voters just sit the election out? More data is needed. I’m not sure if it’s a factor, but there are rumblings online that something might be suspicious in the voting patterns. Musk’s potential involvement on the tech end, in particular, is sparking some conspiracy theories. I have no clue if there is anything to it, but AOC’s posts are being interpreted that way by many.
  9. Very true but the problem is that most people do not understand the implementation delay in policy changes. They do not know that we are still under Trump’s tax plan and still impacted by tariffs from Trump’s first term. And if someone does point it out they refuse to believe and still put the blame on Biden. Just like any benefits from the Chips and Science Act and Inflation Reduction Act, assuming Trump doesn’t repeal them, will be credited to Trump. That’s because finance is one of the few areas that directly benefit from the wealth the one percent.
  10. Trump’s already demanding that those vying to be Speaker of the House, support recess appointments so that he can bypass the confirmation process. Apparently, it’s a move straight out of Project 2025. I’m sure democrats will try and stop it but we will have to see. He’s also demanding they the don’t approve in judicial nominees.
  11. This actually wasn’t the gif is was looking for, but it was there, and I couldn’t resist.
  12. It’s because they are implying that Democrats aren’t democratic. I’m assuming it is based in the same rhetoric that denies the party switch. Basically the same reason “anti-choice” and “forced birther” are being used by people who don’t like the implication that people who are against abortion are the ones who are pro-life.
  13. I get it. Absolutely. I like them from what I’ve seen but that’s more of preaching to the choir thing. I think it’s because it’s ostensibly not a political podcast. It’s billed as a comedy podcast. The seeds were probably always there but it had a huge fan base by the time it began to get more political. Something similar happened with the Call Her Daddy podcast. It’s an entertainment podcast that gained as massive following of women. It was always somewhat feminist because the host is a feminist but wasn’t about feminism. Some of the followers didn’t even realize her politics until she interviewed Kamala.
  14. I agree. They care about the perception of power. They want to gloat. I find it interesting that you interpreted what I wrote in that way. That’s not what I meant at all. The right radicalization of young men and boys is a massive problem and they need a strategy to counteract it, not to caterer to it. Neither do I. I want to see left leaning men in the age group create their own media sources to present a different side. I’ve already seen a push for that happening online. A lot of voices who have traditional been silenced have become vocal through Kamala’s campaign and they can be what makes a difference.
  15. I just saw someone who really believed that the peace in Ukraine and Gaza are imminent. I can’t decide what is worse, that level of delusional belief in Trump or that they are honestly fine with the so much death and destruction while Russia and Israel were apparently just waiting for Trump to win. I’m lying, the second is so much worse.
  16. I don’t disagree with the description only with the idea that it is a larger group. I agree this is the real danger. It’s frustrating how many Latinos voted for Trump but they’re not the group that is responsible for Trump winning. That falls solidly on older white men and women. Kamala won with people under 45 and every ethnicity other than white. Data is showing the Millennials are bucking the trend of getting more conservative with age. The focus needs to be on reaching younger voters, particularly men. There’s a reason Republicans want to raise the voting age and give more voting power to parents. By 2028, the teenagers who lost the right to an abortion in high school will be of voting age.
  17. I have that same fear but I think whether or not that happens will depend a lot on what the first few years of Trump’s term goes. The portion of the voting population that decides elections are not voting on ideals and unless things get noticeably better quick they tend to vote against the party in power. Trump capitalized on the mistaken belief by the many that the president is responsible for prices and people honestly believe that Trump being elected means prices will drop substantially across the board. And that’s without factoring in his tariff and deportation plan. If the Democrats underperform in 2026 though, all bets are off. I think the subset of people you are describing is a lot more narrow than the working class or average Joe. Most people just don’t care either way. I generally despise the saying I am about to use but it is applicable here. For the average American citizen, it’s not that deep. They are struggling and they wanted relief. Biden/Harris/democrats are in power so electing them means more struggle. Trump is unlikable so they either voted for him in hopes he would improve their pocketbook or didn’t vote. Much is already being made of Trump’s gains in California, which is fair, but my moderate conservative county went red after being blue in 2016 and 2020 but turnout was down 30%. I’ve see people stunned San Bernardino County flipped but voter turnout was down 32%.
  18. Heralds? I knew before I looked the writer was a white man. Welcome to the world women and people of color have been living in for way too long. Which, if we’re being honest, is part of the problem. “First They Came” is incredibly applicable today. When I was first becoming aware of politics in the mid-90’s my mom told me that she could never join a party that wanted to force babies to be born but didn’t want to take care of them after they were alive. She also told me a story of a girl she went to high school with who died after having an illegal abortion. Both stories drove home for me that you are exactly right. Yesterday, I heard this poem that really hit home for me. I’m tempted to quote the whole thing but it’s long so all just quote a few bits.
  19. Yes but a constitutional amendment isn’t the only way to change the EC. States get to choose how they allocate their EC votes. 17 states and the District of Columbia have passed a National Popular Vote bills which have a combined 209 electoral votes. If they can ever reach 270 it will go in effect and those states will agree to give their votes to the winner of the popular vote even if that person didn’t win the state. It will definitely be challenged legally if it ever happens. It will probably depend on voting trends in the future but time will tell.
  20. Sounds like a DEI program. 😉
  21. We’re both slightly off. The House impeached him. The Senate acquitted him during the impeachment trial.
  22. No. During the 2020 election there were stories that he indicated to aides he wouldn’t seek reelection but he denied that it was true.
  23. The Senate could have impeached Trump for inciting an insurrection so he would be barred from running by the Constitution.
  24. I completely agree. At a minimum I’d like to see an elimination of winner take all and let each district get a vote or split the states Electoral College votes based on the overall percentage each state gets. I believe federal law is that it can’t he done past 90 days out from an election. Many red and swing states have passed laws that use poor methods of to determine who to purge and make it difficult to appeal. Some states even allow people to challenge someone else’s voter registration and a handful of people can be responsible for a ton of challenges. Last Week Tonight did a story on it awhile back.
  25. And the purging of voter roles just before the election. The people who never received their ballot. I even saw one person who had her voter registration changed to a different address just before the election. Fortunately, she got it them to switch it back so she could vote and it is being investigated.
