  1. Not necessarily. Maybe the opponent was bad, making for a really lopsided battle (which tends to be bad TV). They still won their battles, after all. (I believe Cassadee Pope had a montaged battle and still went on to win the whole show, so montaging doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the battle's winner.)
  2. Yes, the risk is botulism spores in unpasteurized honey - making it a huge no-no for the under-twos (whose immune systems aren't yet up to protecting them).
  3. Yes. Very very basic cha cha. I commented to my husband "hey! Paula's doing almost the exact dance we learned!" Which is not a knock on Louis' choreography at all; it was probably the smartest thing to do - superbasic relatively easy intro cha cha steps. (I say "relatively easy" because it was definitely the easiest for us of all the dances we learned. Rumba is wicked hard!)
  4. Some of his songs at least still sound like country music. Unlike, say, the dreck that Sam Hunt has put out (that also makes it to #1). Or the ten-or-so other young male artists that all sound the same as each other. So, that means that Cassadee and Danielle *ought* to stand out. And that *ought* to help them be successful. Maddie and Tae's second single made it close to #1 here (if not actually to #1; we only tend to hear parts of the countdown while running our Saturday errands) so I'm hoping that sets a better precedent. (Or is Canada just friendlier to female country artists? I know we have a couple of homegrown ones that do well, but Kacey Musgraves has gotten good airplay for most of her singles. I suspect she got backlash from Follow Your Arrow - which I love but which I can see not going over well with the crowd that objected to Girl Crush because they thought it was about lesbians.)
  5. I hated the twins' rearrangement of Thank You, but their harmonies were good enough that I wouldn't mind them sticking around for a couple of rounds.
  6. If it was Nashville Star, they'd have to actually be able to write their own songs.
  7. This. I "learned" how to do laundry in the laundry room in residence by reading the instructions. I already knew about lights vs. darks so it really wasn't that hard. It just wan't on my to-do list when I was living with my parents (too busy cooking for the family, vacuuming, ironing, doing homework, etc.) - and it was much more efficient for one of my parents to do everyone's laundry together than have us each do mini-loads.
  8. Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle. Apparently, studies show that they make each other work better. So, the two together is better than the sum of them individually. I can't say 100% that they worked for me. Something worked but, like I said, I was on a prescription as well. Found a link that talks about the pair: http://www.nbci.ca/index.php?option=com_content&id=21:herbal-remedies-for-milk-supply&Itemid=17
  9. The biggest problem is that the herbal industry is almost completely unregulated (and the manufacturers are fighting to keep it that way). So, you get natural foods stores selling pills that don't actually contain any of the herbs they say they do. As long as the pill won't kill you, they're allowed to call it anything they want. And say anything they want about what it will supposedly do. Which is really unfair to the natural remedies that actually do work (of which there are several) - because it's very difficult to tell the difference without a lot of research. My experience has been that my doctors have been in favour of eating healthy and preventative medicine (as all doctors should be) and herbal remedies that actually work. e.g. When I was seeing a lactation consultant, she had me taking a prescription *and* two herbs that had been proven effective (and were distinct enough in flavour that you'd know if the pill didn't contain what it was supposed to).
  10. Well, yes, "oops" babies happen. But breastfeeding does offer some level of natural hormonal birth control. (And they could be abstaining - which would have been my doctor's second choice. We went with the first choice of "woman goes on pill until nine months has passed". "Increased risk of uterine rupture" is scary sounding enough that I'd think even the hyper-religious would want to avoid it.) Anyway, all I was getting at was that I'm not at all surprised she isn't pregnant again yet. Jill and Derrick have very very good reasons to wait at least another few months before beginning to try for #2.
  11. If their doctor was anything like mine, they were recommended not to get pregnant for at least 9 months after the surgery to minimize risk of harm to mum with the second pregnancy. While they may not be actively trying to prevent pregnancy, I doubt they're actively trying to get pregnant yet either.
  12. I did okay (30,000ish) but was not impressed that they excluded any word that was remotely scientific. Many scientific terms are part of the common vernacular (and many more should be). Showed a strong anti-science bias, if you ask me.
  13. That also explains how they've "coincidentally" avoided any male-male (or female-female) ballroom pairings. That and having barely any ballroom at all this season. :-p
  14. Our wedding photographer included an engagement session at minimal cost (which included her making the guest book for us using the pictures). It served as a "dry run" for the actual wedding photo session, and I think it was a really good idea. There certainly weren't 500 pics, but there would have been more than 50 to choose between.
  15. Jennifer Nettles is A-List in country circles (more famous as Blake was pre-Voice). She's the lead singer for Sugarland and has had decent success as a solo artist too. Most of the major women in country music at the moment are lead singers for groups rather than solo artists - which gives them less immediate name recognition (but plenty of face recognition - and you just say "Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland" until people get used to her on her own).
  16. Of the three girls in the Trenchcoat routine, I enjoyed Marisa the most. I felt like she got the spirit of the dance the best (despite Hailee being plunked front and center almost the whole time - likely because she was tallest and probably had the "best lines").
  17. Best guest star they've had since the CW started making them have them for cross-promotion purposes. He was possibly the only guest star I've seen who really "fit" with the regulars.
  18. *sigh* Josh is boring (and not nearly attractive enough to make up for that). I would have preferred either Rob or Deanna (or keep both and lose Josh/Corey). They *really* need to randomize the order of the Twitter save. It's ridiculous that Adam's team always go last (especially since the last singer has won all but one of the saves)
  19. If his voice is in the process of breaking, he shouldn't be singing. It's bad for it, and will hurt him in the long run. He should have waited a couple of year.
