  1. When the note came up at the bottom of the screen that the show was 'pre-recorded' on Friday, I deleted it from my DVR before Whoopi had a chance to talk. I forgot Jean Smart was a guest. Now I'm going to have to go back and try to restore it so I can watch if it's not too late (I think my system gives me 24 hours to reverse a deletion).
  2. Let's face it - if it were a white male host with their own TV show acting like she did , they would be long canceled by now. Imaging a white male host fawning over every female guest on his show and trying to score her like Wendy does with men ? Imagine a white male host trying to shame a female audience member into admitting she was bulimic ? Or calling an obvious male who is married to another man a 'wife' and a 'she' ? He would've never returned the next day. Why this one gets a free pass is beyond me.
  3. Wendy was so classy on Thursday. First she referred to one of the guys of the hot gay couple in the first row as 'she' and 'your wife' (because he had long dreadlocks?) and the other guy had to say 'he's my husband'. WOW ! A blind man could've seen it was two hunky muscular men (male strippers!). Then she has the 'shocked look' on her face, and stumbles for words to try to continue the conversation. Perfect - welcome to Pride Month, Wendy viewers. So far, no one from LGBTQ has called her out or asked her to 'educate herself' like they would any other TV host or public figure. Later on, an audience member says she lost 70s pounds in the past year. WW asks how she did it, and the woman hesitates to answer...so a horrified Wendy asks if she's bulimic. WTF ? Are you Dr. Phil now ? (Woman had gastric surgery, which she obviously didn't want to reveal on TV). Go ahead Wendy -embarrass her if she's bulimic, and call her a cheater for having the surgery. No cancel culture for Wendy, no consequences either.
  4. I noticed it. The bug crawling on the shelves behind Sheryl was much more interesting to watch than listening to her blabber on and on in her NPR voice.
  5. Ecchhh! Drew Barrymore ? Thanks, but no thanks. She'll be promoting "Drew Magazine" ? She thinks she's Oprah now ? The last self-indulgent talk show host to try to imitate Oprah with her own magazine was Rosie when she took over 'McCall's'. And we all know how that turned out before the magazine ink had a chance to dry. Please, EPs...book some INTERESTING guests for a change !
  6. Thank you! I did read that and I guess it went over my head she meant HR. It makes sense now. For the record, can I give a shout out to how handsome Abby's husband is ? WOW ! He's adorable.
  7. The fact that Whoopie apologized when they came back live didn't surprise me. In all honesty, I truly believe WG doesn't like to get that argumentive and emotional in public, in front of an audience. That's not the public persona she wants out there - as we can all remember back to July, 2018 when Jeanine Piro was a guest and the two of them got into a confrontation (not too dissimilar from the one we saw today). The next day, the first thing WG did was offer a heartfelt apology to us, the viewers, for her 'unprofessional behavior' and explained how things got 'out of hand and shouldn't have' because that's not like her to act that way. (She never apologized to Piro, though.) The apology from WG is genuine. Aside from that, I'm betting Rosie O'Donnell is loving every minute of this (and don't believe she doesn't watch the show). She loves when MM goes on the attack - especially with WG. MM treats WG the way Rosie wishes she could have back in 2014-15, but let's face it - MM has bigger cajones than Rosie ever did.
  8. Where in the article does it say she had gone to HR about the work environment there ? I don't see that at all.
  9. Looks like Victoria's Secret won't be advertising on ABC anymore.
  10. Sorry Megaphone and Whoopie - apologies don't cut it. The milk is already spilled, and we know how you two truly feel about each other.
  11. Whoopi: "Well, then, you can be like you always are..." McCain: "And you can be like you always are..." Advertisers are loving this ! This is what they invested in...
  12. Abby Huntsman was recently interviewed by PEOPLE Magazine, after her year-and-a-half departure from 'The View'. Despite the headline's claim that she tells "Why she really left The View", Abby does not get into details - she remains vague about it, and wraps up her season on the show in one long sentence: "I don't talk much about that time, and I won't, but the decision that I made was probably the best decision I could have made for my life, for my mental health, for my happiness, for my family," she tells PEOPLE. Still, here's what's been going on with the former host since leaving the show... https://people.com/tv/why-abby-huntsman-left-the-view-how-her-family-survived-covid-whats-next/
  13. She picked the cutest guy - bachelor #2. When he turned the corner to meet her, I think he had no idea who this 'celebrity' was - just like I didn't know (although what little I did see of her, I did like her very much). I'm really not certain what prompted Bolton to take this thankless job on the show. He sits like a corpse, and then tries to warble a few notes in between as the others use him for target practice on lame jokes.
  14. According to reports which were released last week for the all-important "May Sweeps", the show saw a touch of improvement in some of the ratings demos, but not enough to keep it grounded in last place among talk shows. ("The View" lost viewers in certain demos from a year ago, when everyone was staying home with the pandemic, but is still the #1 talk show on daytime TV). May sweeps is what the network makes decisions off of this summer on which shows to keep and which to cancel for the Fall, and how much advertisers will be charged for buying 'commercial time'. If CBS, for some ridiculous reason, decides to keep this show going in the Fall, they will probably be losing money since no advertiser is going to pay big bucks for a show which can't get out of last place. Interestingly, while daytime talk shows shed viewers during May '21 compared to May '20, game shows and soaps were up in viewers compared to last year. Networks point out it's because last year during May sweeps game shows and soaps were airing repeats during the pandemic, while talk shows were still airing new content, albeit the hosts were 'remote'.
  15. Yet there are so many reasons it should have done well. The target audience LMM was going after (the LatinX community) just didn't buy tickets for the movie. It's as simple as that. It's a huge audience of all ages in the LatinX community which regularly goes to the movies (from 'tweens to senior citizens) and they bought tickets to other movies instead of this one. THAT is what Sunny and Ana should have discussed: Why ? Why didn't LatinX support LMM ? ETA: Here's a link to a Variety report which explains why HBOMAX had nothing to do with 'In the Heights' flopping at the box office this weekend. What they report is very interesting about the movie, and how much it needs to make back ($200M !) for it to be profitable. Ana and Sunny should really be pushing this film every chance they get to their community, rather defending LMM for his flaws in casting... https://variety.com/2021/film/box-office/in-the-heights-box-office-hbo-max-1234995410/
  16. You mean the movie ? If those three hadn't watched it yet, they should have never given it such a positive spin, and given LMM an @ss-kissing'. That's hypocritical. I, too, was looking forward to this movie (I hadn't seen the musical on B'way). I figured it would be a fun, exciting musical - something we can really use right now. Instead, it was an over-blown, over-produced musical like 1978's "The Wiz". Too many stories and characters to follow, which became one big mess. As for HBOMax interfering with the box-office, just the opposite has taken effect with other big-budget films such as 'WW84' and "Kong vs Godzilla" . Those who saw it on HBOMAX went to the theater the same weekend to see it on the BIG screen. In this case, those who saw it on MAX (like me) thought once was enough, and those who were heading out the the theaters this weekend - including the LatinX community - chose to buy tix to 'A Quiet Place' instead. I think LMM and WB failed in their marketing campaign to the LatinX community. If this doesn't earn it's budget back to at least make it 'break even' (not even profitable), LMM and other directors are going to have an up-hill battle trying to get more films directed to the LatinX community made. It's an interesting, pivotal time in Hollywood (IMO). (Keep in mind, Spielberg's eagerly anticipated remake of 'West Side Story' gets released at the end of the year.)
  17. There was an awful lot to chew on today with 'The View', but here's what struck me the most: "Bennifer": Sunny and the rest of them seemed so tickled and delighted that the two of them are back together. On the other hand, their friend Wendy WIlliams is much more realistic - she's been saying for weeks Lopez and her children deserve better than a man who is addicted to alcohol and gambling. I agree with Wendy. (WW also pointed out how 'staged' that PDA was this weekend, for the paparazzi to take photos). I believe it was Ana who said how cute they were together years ago, and then they 'broke up for some reason'. The reason was very public - "Gigli", the movie which they starred in back in the early 2000s was a box office failure and a critical disaster. JLo was trying to be taken seriously as an actress at the time, and she dumped him when she realized that the repercussions from this movie (and their relationship) would damage her aspiring film career. Affleck was an Oscar winner by that point and didn't have much riding on this one film. She had everything riding on it (movie-careerwise) and couldn't afford the negative publicity and ridicule. "In The Heights" : Of course, Ana, Whoopi and Sunny just loved this movie by the 'amazing' Lin Manuel Miranda. That was expected. Therefore, they forgive his flaws in casting since he's a Latino and went soft on him, especially Ana ( Sunny was a bit more vocal in her criticism, but said it with a mouth full of sugar and a smile on her face. Not the furrowed brow and anger in her voice she uses for other strikes against her community.). This only points to the question: If it was a Caucasian who directed the same movie with the same results, would they be forgiving and play softball with the criticism ? Would Ana ask everyone to 'cut him some slack' and explain it's a musical, not a documentary or a Benneton ad ? Not in a million years. What they didn't disclose today on the show was that the movie was a box-office bomb this weekend. It was projected to do $20M opening weekend, and instead came in at a disappointing $11.5M. I don't think WB studios is too happy with this (The musical had a budget of $55M which means it has to make $110M at the box office to be profitable and cover production expenses plus added on promotion and advertising expenses. " A Quiet Place" in it's third week at the box-office came in number one, beating 'In The Heights' debut at the box-office.). Ana and Sunny better promote this movie to the Latinx community to fill those theater seats quickly! BTW: Notice they didn't include Joy or Sara in this conversation at all ? Just Whoopie, Ana and Sunny - and then a commercial break. Until tomorrow....
