S05.E07: The Silence of E. Lamb
Chaos Theory replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
In Emily's case it's understandable she has a full blown case of sexblindness. Although between the convo with her mom and the call to Paige she is starting to come out of it. Quick Ali get Nekkid! Emmy is starting to think for herself. -
S05.E07: The Silence of E. Lamb
Chaos Theory replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
Emily has a major case of sex blindness and at this time it has no cure but at least it is usually not fatal but considering it is Emily, Ali and Rosewood so someone gonna die bloody!!!! -
Its funny the political stuff is the least interesting story for me. I actually really enjoyed Molly's name dropping. "Who the hell are you?" "Dr. Molly Al-Fayeed."

S05.E07: The Silence of E. Lamb
Chaos Theory replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
I have a weird fascination when Spencer has scenes with Ezra so I enjoyed that. My favorite storyline of season 1 was when Aria's mother thought Spencer was the one sleeping with Ezra. I loved Spencer's line "Wow, I forgot how enthusiastic you were about watching things." Hana's new drinking problem. That is going to be all kinds of fun. Plus we have her scenes with Sydney my new favorite character. I knew that was going to end badly. I love you Emily, I really do, but you are being a blind ass. A Blind blind ass Aria, crazy people hide under other peoples beds. Its Rosewood? The Vodka was little weird but I am letting it go because the dinner party was fantastically awkward and the conversation after between Pam and Emily was fabulous. The difference between the relationship between season 1 Pam and Emily and Season 5 Pam and Emily is fascinating. -
If the episode had ended with the Zoey stuff it would have been a great series finale.

People with pasts are interesting especially dark ones and so far Yewll's past has been played perfectly.

It looks like Pottinger had a crush on Connor and was obsessed with him . He followed Connor to NY. Connor may actually be the reason Pottinger is in Defiance. Didn't GhostConnor say something about Pottinger not believing the story about Connors death. It is possible he came to Defiance to solve his obsessions murder.....and in the process gets a new one, Ananda.

And there my friends I present to you the gayest episode of Defiance yet. This is your mind on drugs....and crazy Voltan experiments any questions? Doc Yewll continues to be one of the best characters on this show. She is funny, sad, with a bit of dark history we have only begun to see. Pottinger...oh Pottinger you have been a bad little arch villain, haven;t you? My favorite scene however was between Rafe and Stahma in the bath and then with the Tarrs and the McCawleys in the Tarr house when he tried to get back in with his family. Those were some classic scenes. Actually now that you mention it, this has been my favorite episode so far this season.

Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed: The Michael Corleone of the Middle East
Chaos Theory replied to David T. Cole's topic in Tyrant [V]
Its funny I think Bassam is probably the least interesting of his family. I think it was a mistake to make him the lead or at least to make the show about his problems. He has a good deal of potential in the short run but very little in the long run unless the show actually becomes a family drama based in the Middle East. I find his family far more interesting at least in the long run. I know Molly gets no love but once the writers actually give her some material (what DOES she do when her husband is running Fakistan?) I can see her becoming interesting. Their kids are at the right age to be intriguing if written correctly. I know the show got compared at one point to Homeland but it is not Homeland and shouldn't be expected to be but I will make a comparison anyway; Dana Brody. She was a divisive character but she was at least interesting and was written like a real teenager. Just think real American teenagers being forced to spend an extended time in the Middle East. The son is interesting because he likes the idea of being ELITE but is blind to the danger that surrounds him and his Cousins Asshatery. And the daughter is interesting because she is an idealist who is blind to the fact that her ideals don't always translate into the real world. Oh the drama. -
Good points but we are only 4 episodes in to what amounts to an ambitious summer show. If the show doesn't explainy muchy by episode 7 or 8 I will be more annoyed for now I like the show for what it is.
-
My guess rules don't apply when you have money and power. Even Fakistan has an upper class and inside a nightclub the rules would be relaxed. When the women walk back outside they would be covered in long coats. The show does need to say that though. Sometimes say not show dies work especially in these matters.

Its a weird thing when it comes to women and violence. Paige committed a single violent act against Emily and that same episode went out of her way to apologize for it and yet two? Seasons later people are still using it as a reason to hate her while the male love interests have done far worse and far more often and the pairings have a rabid fan base and insist that they are good people and need to be forgiven or even the acts were never really bad to begin with.

The show wouldn't work if the kids weren't teens. You'd teenage years tend to be your most turbilant. We are meant to draw parallels between Bassams daughter whose heart is in the right place but is still naive to how lucky and privileged she is with the daughter of the blogger guy who is fighting for her basic rights and has to chose between two evils; the tyrant in office now who is denying her and family basic rights or the religious extremists who don't think particularly well of women. The son on the other hand is more interested in the fun being part of the elite can give him and he was just hit with the cost on people who aren't elite. In theory both him and his sister can go home at any time. The people around them are home don't have the luxury to wring their hands and leave. I can see the son getting mixed up in his Cousins bad behavior while walking a tight rope with his homosexuality and the daughter finding friends who are as politically active but in the way the priveleged often are. They talk about change and the common man but they don't actually do anything about it.

I liked Molly this episode and I think the show is finally beginning to write her decently. I thought her stuff with Bassam was great. I think it was a compare and contrast her reactions between her husband and daughter just like it was a compare and contrast with Bassams friends reaction with Bassam and his own daughter.

I like Toby even if Keegan Allan is not a very good actor. I actually like Toby and Spencer as a couple. I think a lot of the problem was iffy writing after he was revealed to nor actually be on the A team. Plus sine KA is away doing other thins Toby is not around to defend himself like Ezra and others are. As for Ali; for the record I do not ship her with Emily but I so like the way the story is progressing. I think Ali is using Emily and I am actually enjoying the storyline. Personally I like Paige and would like Emily to ultimately end up with her but before she can do that she needs to get Ali out of her system. Ezra and Aria will always be awful but they were funny awful tonight. With the cop showing up at the door and the camera still in the hallway z Hanna and Caleb matching flasks....awww
-
I agree with you to a point about Emily but while Aria and Ezra are just awful for reasons top mamy to say mainly I have no understanding at all why Aria keeps going back to him. I at least understand Emily and her tunnel vision when it comes to Ali at the moment. Ali is and will always be her first love. Her unrequited crush who is suddenly requiting it. We all know (and to an extent Emily knows) that Ali is using her but when you have loved someone for this long and have lost them to death and whatnot there is no way you will be able to see the situation clearly f or the time being I can deal with Emily being blind to Ali and her obvious manipulation. Its a murder mystery if they did all that then nothing would happen and it wouldn't be a murder mystery. And honestly I am enjoying the season. I think having Ali as a main player as added to the show a great deal.

What I learned from this episode is that Rosewood is worse then death. Rosewood must be some kind of crime mecca because how else can a teenage girl get that some much cash and fake id? This A is not very subtle. First blowing up a house; now a rat in a locker/ Aria that's not a slip you just had with Ezra that is tripping over your feet onto the penis of the man who was stalking you for years but hey true love conquers all. Hanna pick your love triangle over Ali angst every time. Emily just say no to Ali sex. Trust me. She is like heroin. Might feel good in the short run but bitch will kill you,

But I think that is kind if the point Earth Republic is kind of heavy handed but I am not sure how I see them really. Defiance is an Old West type town and Earth Republic is the new World that infringes on them.

There is a term in sex called "Topping from the bottom". I think that is what Stahma has always done. Enforced her will from a submissive position. She is all smiles and bows and "You are so strong." She does this with everyone and yet it seems to be her that gets her way. If you listen to what she says even in the first season. Her words are very telling. She speaks softly but her words have great meaning. She tells her husband what to do and yet makes him believe it was his idea the entire time. She tell Amanda in season two she is so strong, so brave while handing her Adreno to ease her pain. This has never never been a woman you want to cross. It is only due to the society she was born into that she is a submissive as she is.
-
I still say it was a decent show. I probably would be harsher if it was on the weekly model but I think this show was made for binge watching.
-
I was thinking that too. I do think think that at best Pottinger is an opportunist who will use the rape and Amanda's addiction to get what he want....Amanda. Moral of the story. Never underestimate Stahma Tarr. She will cut a bitch...or more more likely get someone else to cut a bit for her. For the first time I am actually enjoying the Alak/Christie relationship. I think it is going to a place it couldn't season 1. Old ways vs New ways that are pulling at Alak. The line that Christie couldn't understand why he couldn't go after his father because she wasn't Castithan was interesting especially when his mother walked in ....just then. I am not really a Amanda/Nolan shipper but I thought there early scene in the bedroom was cute especially when Nolan said, "So I am not getting sex because you have to go to work in a whorehouse." I thought that whole scene was perfect. Plus actually long scene with drug use. I loved it. Question, do you think there are NA meetings in this universe. Well if there isn't that is the new think Amanda can set up. I mean she was mayor, now works in a whore house, next logical step...... "Hello my name is Amanda Rosewater and I am an Adreno addict." "Hello Amanda."

I like this show. It is fun. It isn't exactly quality television but It is fun. Two episodes into the 2nd season and I am still liking the show. Yes it lacks the quality of OITNB and House of Cards but it is still good showing for Netflix.

Who says it was justice? We are not talking about American justice which for better or worse is pretty ideal world wise. We are talking about the better of two evils. Lie the previous episode with the kids who took the woman hostage; if it was the US the would have been walked out and gone to prison for a few years with some counciling but even with Bassam taking them down and the kids not actually killing anyone they still got a bullet to the head. Bassam is trying to avoid that kind of justice where he can. The guy who got hung was going to get hung there was nothing Bassam could do about that. He was at least able to protect his kids and maybe avoid what happened last episode from happening again.

The show is about color scheme. Right now it is shades of black; everything is choking on darkness. The show would be silly and unrealistic if Barry shows up and suddenly law and order Ian's shades of white light are the norm. what he brings is shades of grey. Yes his brother gets to hang a dude bit the dude is actually guilty and only the guilty guy gets hung. Plus bro gets to look good by letting people go who he knows are not terrorists. Shades of grey. It will be interesting how long Barry can keep it up.

Molly is not a plant she is a passive aggressive WASP who sees that her family can have actual power in this country but like a lot of Americans ( I said a lot not all) is unaware of the real danger. Case and point her son who also wants to stay because he has his gay eye on a hot thing but is naively unaware of what Muslims countries do to homosexuals.
