  1. Well, you know, blind man grilling. Maybe he throws a few pounds of meat on the grill, pokes it a while, and hopes some portion of it comes out just right.
  2. I'm a big fan of her mom, especially after that dead-on speech in Dr. Now's office toward the end. And god bless her for taking care of her granddaughter. But she kept saying she only gave Dolly a normal portion of healthy food. That's not what we saw on camera. There was a scene well into the supposed weight loss program where she handed Dolly a plate of what looked like several quesadillas piled on top of each other. Or something that looked like that, definitely not on the plan. I can't fault her for much for trying and caving in to the demands of her very dysfunctional daughter, though. Also, when they were discussing how the mother had recently lost 200 pounds, I was surprised they made no mention of how. Did she have surgery? Did she just get tough with a diet and excercise plan? I mean, it's kind of relevant in the moment. I was fascinated by the look on Dolly's face every time Dr. Now was talking to her. It was so... odd, like she was a child trying to understand the words of a grownup.
  3. So apparently Ryan spent the entire 19 months in the gym. As for the busses at the beginning, they all ended up leaving at the same time but maybe the producers were hoping that at least one team would be delayed finding the busses and the last bus couldn't leave without the last team on board. Could have created a real gap for two or three teams. Curious detail: What was the silver handle with a black knob that was so prominent on the back of each bus seat? Just a handhold?
  4. So you've met my ex-wife? That is exactly how she would have spun it. Especially the "preoccupied thinking of things to criticize your dad about." 🙂
  5. Interesting that the husband said his wife had "defoliated" much of the northeast, after the original reference to how his wife "deflowered" Nicky. Defoliation was a term that came into common usage referring to how Agent Orange was used to kill the foliage in Vietnam, to make the enemy more visible to U.S. pilots, and to destroy crops. Perhaps this was a subtle indication that Sally's husband also had been in Vietnam.
  6. Such a blah episode. But at least it was nice to see a spouse who was sensible and not actively enabling. Musa was delightful, and like someone suggested, I suspect she only enabled him in the sense that she felt she should not defy her husband because of their religious outlook. She seemed so nice and I hope she fares well.
  7. Interesting you mention that. During that scene Rebecca referred to "10 years ago, back when we were in our sixties" or something like that, and I thought, wait, they're supposed to be in their 70s? I was not thinking of those two women, or Miguel for that matter, as being that old. The makeup is pretty good but I get lost in the timeline on this show and wasn't thinking that age range yet.
  8. The automatic reply would have been "There is nothing exactly like this on the market." 🙄
  9. Loved the awkward dinner and aftermath. I thought it was feeling false at one point but it all came together. A large part of it was the actress playing Sally. Pitch perfect from the first moment. The Miguel/ Rebecca story is so good and needs more attention. He looked really sharp in that shirt and sport coat. They need to find a way to keep the big square studio lights from showing in Rebecca’s glasses. Wasn’t interested in the Deja storyline. And why was Malik wearing a doo rag after sex? Is that a thing??
  10. Agree. Second day he actually offered help instead of saying, “You do better, okay? Now my wife Robin will tell you about…”
  11. Today’s episode with the girl accusing dad of molesting her, wow what a storm of batshit crazy and therapist manipulation. “Recovered memories” are false. So well proven now. Did mom seem kind of drunk? Never a good sign when you are your kid’s best friend. Surprised he did the full hour instead of pivoting quickly to an app or face cream.
  12. Okay, I have to call it quits on this show. I was trying to stay with it just for the hate watching, but watching Memphis interrogate this young Muslim guy about his sexual performance on their first night together (disrespecting his mother) and repeatedly asking him if that's the way he normally ejaculates ...... ugh, just gross. Who does that? Who expects the first time to be like a porn movie, then berates and criticizes your partner if he got a little too excited the first time? Take it as a fucking compliment and stop asking what you can expect of his future ejaculation patterns. Some of these people are just disgusting excuses for human beings. I feel dirty watching them. Had to turn it off after that scene.
  13. That huge safe was so prominent in all the home scenes that I thought it was going to be Chekhov’s gun safe and fall on them in the third act.
  14. I’ve always liked Kevin Hart as an actor but wow, he is a really savvy businessman and investor. Totally hold his own against bully Kevin and the rest. Major props to Kevin Hart.
  15. The thing to remember is that the Challenger flight was very hyped over it being the first to take a civilian, and the civilian was to be a schoolteacher. The whole point was to bring attention to the space shuttle flights that had become ho-hum for the public, so there was a big campaign to get everyone but especially school children excited for the flight. That's why schools had televisions in classrooms and gymnasiums for them to watch the launch. It was a big event particularly for school kids. In the months prior teachers talked about it a lot, and I'm sure very many teachers said things like "Just imagine if it was me going to space! Maybe I'll go next time!" So young students had that kind of focus on it and a sudden tragic end would have affected them more than just a random space shuttle exploding. Kindergarteners might have been the least affected because of their age, maybe more confused than anything else, but I think it had more impact than a typical news event.
  16. I see your point and can't disagree, but I wasn't suggesting her outburst was inappropriate or some kind of burden to the others. I only meant it as a dramatic choice, that seeing her sadness could be as or more effective as seeing her frustration.
  17. If I were the writer or director, I would have had Rebecca kind of quietly and forlornly say, "...caboose" at the dinner table instead of shouting it. The others still would react quizzically because it came out of nowhere, but you would have Rebecca sad at the realization of what is happening to her instead of explosively frustrated. Maybe they shot it both ways and went with the more dramatic over the soft sadness.
  18. Kate is some kind of pscyho for standing there listening to that terrible breakup scene and then immediately walking in to the office. But then again, he did call her in for an "emergency," that turned out to be a birthday song for her. So maybe she felt she had to talk to him right away. The whole scenario just felt off, like nothing real human beings would do.
  19. I see with today’s sick woman episode he changed the chairs. Maybe just for her? I’ve always thought I could never be a guest on Dr. Phil because I’d be so awkward trying to get into those 10-ft tall high chairs, the ones where you have to back up to it and then climb backwards. But today’s club chairs? Yes, my favorite type. Now I can be on Dr. Phil.
  20. Oh that poor fat girl with the cheesy wigs. Just sad. Her friend knew it was bad.
  21. I want to see what is required for Ella to get on that poor horse. I’m 250 and won’t subject a typical horse to that (though I used to ride), and I could not mount a horse in the usual way.
  22. “I could be shitting the bed. They should be more grateful.” That is Tammy’s personality in a nutshell.
  23. Wait a minute. At the end they were talking about New York vs. Houston but there had been no talk or footage of travel. And that’s a long way. What’s up? What did I miss?
  24. That smug, entitled little snowflake who flounced out of his retail job was insufferable. The way he looked at Phil and the other guy with those heavy lidded, half closed eyes told me everything about him. He thinks he deserves everything, his way, and now, and if anyone tries direct him or, god forbid, criticize him then they are disrespecting him. Did he really say he quit “from the area where all the managers be?” I liked when Dr. Phil said, “I don’t care how flat you make it, someone wrote pancake on my forehead, and I ask why not?”
